This is a 10-acre part of a larger 110-acre property. This section is reserved for tents, camping vans, and small trailers 20' or less. The river is great for small children to wade and swim in during the summer. During spring, the water is up higher for kayaks and canoes. Your hosts live at 1010 205th Ave. It is just a vineyard for now. the winery we hope will be built in 2025.

Currently, the entrance might have ground bees. There has been no issue with other campers using that site, but we do want to make future campers aware. They are yet to be identified by species. We only see holes. We tried to get a picture of them, but they are inactive. We stood there for an hour waiting to see some activity yet saw no bees. We swept the ground filling in the holes we saw, and they cleared it the next day. Even when cutting the grass with a large mower, it doesn't seem to affect them. I'm not sure if they are bees, but if you are allergic to bees, please choose another site just to be safe.

Great space with the river winding through the property. A lot of the sites feel like you’re completely alone because of the forest. I definitely plan to stay here again.

This place is located on a beautiful piece of land. The directions are clear and campsites are well marked. There is some road noise as mentioned in other posts but The river was the crowning glory of this site! I would definitely camp here again!

First off, the sites are very close together. They’re also very uneven and small. Difficult to pitch even a small 2 person tent. Traffic lights and noise was a distraction. As was the constant gunfire.

This was a beautiful site. Carl and his wife were gracious and helpful hosts. The site is very close to the Rum River state Forest. There are beautiful trails. There is also a huge equestrian campsite I hope to use in the future.

Cabin 1 - A-Frame
Site was as described and easy to find using navigation and watching for address number. Bed was comfortable for one night. Location was great for peace and quiet after dark. Several other sites were nearby but empty - be aware privacy isn’t ensured if other sites are occupied. In warmer months bring bug spray as there’s flowing water, and be ready for muddy conditions if recent rains. Plenty of land to explore and wander if desired. One person is not likely to be able to lift the roof awning; two is better! Just enough space to sleep and rest and relax. The solar lighting is a nice touch. Not any storage off the floor other than the bed space, so be aware; perhaps a hook or two for jackets or gear? All in all a good first visit and an amazing find!

Was my first time using Hipcamp and booking a campsite my self. The owner Carl made everything so simple and i was beyond impressed with the campsite. I ended up booking wrong night and Carl let me switch my dates and was extremely understanding about the whole situation which took huge stress off my shoulders. Shout out to Carl and his beautiful campsite for making me and my finances weekend so memorable and stress free. The land is beyond beautiful, clean, peaceful, and over all 10/10. You have the river, the trees, the wildlife, and the location is hidden enough to where you feel like you’re escaping the world but still 15 min from a gas station incase you forget anything! Highly reccomend will definitely be coming here often and recommending to my family and friends.

Carl's lake is a nicely secluded campground a good ways away from any city, but still about 30 min from Mille Lacs so the days were able to be filled with nearby adventures and hiking. We loved the picturesque sites right next to the river! We were lucky enough to have clear skies on both nights of our stay and there really is zero light pollution so the stars are absolutely incredible at Carl's campground!! Highly recommend these sites!

Fantastic no frills private site on #9. We stayed on a Monday night in August 2024 and we were the only campers. Site #9 is right on the river/creek and we could see and hear the water babbling over the rocks! Owners were very responsive to questions. Great value! We will book again.

We had had an amazing time. Being right on the river is perfect if you enjoy fishing! It was very peaceful and secluded and we had plenty of space to set up camp while still having space for activities (: this site is definitely one of the best plus Carl stopped by and welcomed us. Thank you for sharing your land!

Beautiful sites! We only stayed one night but we'll be back for sure! Carl and Saeng were so kind and told us all about their land and the hiking opportunities near by. They were very responsive to messages on the app and even made a phone call to me to clarify parking questions. Our pups were able to be off leash and they were so happy to play around our site and in the water. Fell asleep listening to the water in the creek and the frog sounds. Sites are not too close and #9 felt very private. Easy drive from the Twin cities. Can't wait to check it out in fall and stay longer!

This was a great site! We did have a little trouble locating the site but after a little walking around we were able to find it. Carl was so sweet and chatted with us. Definitely very peaceful! We are going to stay here again!!

Absolutely GORGEOUS PRIVATE Retreat. Campsite 9 is private and next to so much land to walk. Site 4 has a darling tiny cabin that I definitely want to stay in next time! *Pack mosquito spray ( we forgot )

The land was beautiful and the hosts seemed really sweet: Location was still generally close to Minneapolis attractions, and gave us gorgeous quiet nights! Beautiful creek right next door and flowers everywhere! (Just make sure to bring that bug spray!😉)

Site 16 - Serenity Point
It is a nice and peaceful campsite. It’s located at the end of the road, so we didn’t have anyone driving by the site. Neighbors were not to close, try nice camping spot. There are a LOT of mosquitoes, so definitely come prepared.

We had a wonderful time camping at site 6. It was decently sized, easy to get in and out of, and right on the river. There was very little shade during the day in our campsite but there were plenty of empty sites we were able to go explore in the shade. We had a great time and would come back on the future.

We snagged a lovely site right next to the river for our first tenting experience with two young boys. My boys loved trying to fish and finding frogs right by our tent. We really appreciated the off-leash permissions too - our lab had a blast!

Such a lovely area and sweet owners. Booked on the spur of the moment to see the northern lights. Easy to find and had everything I needed. Owners drive down with the wood bundle and chatted for a few minutes. I look forward to their winery opening! They are so nice and would love to stay here again.
