Feels at most times like a private beach but site is not private. A-frame is away from the crowds of the park and just far enough off Route 1 that the noise of engines is barely audible. Lobster boats however will hum about the bay extracting their bounty from the sea. We encourage guests to fully maximize relax and spend their time here, rather than just using the site as a launching off pad for traversing acadia on MDI.

Privacy: Semi Private site. During the day you might encounter the seldom friendly hiker on the beach and trails on the neighboring preserve. There is a curtain in the cabin for privacy. More prevalent than hikers are deer, bald eagle, sea birds, wild turkey, friendly chipmunks, chattery red and black squirrel and the occasional porcupine. In the water are small whales, seal, loons, porpoise (dolphins basically), duck, heron, and schools of fish schoaling.

Cabin: is RUSTIC, from 70's, is also not hermetically sealed. In summer cabin is hot/cold proportionally to outdoor temps. You are camping. There are bugs. You’re in the woods. There will be a small woodland creatures or traces of them, please do not eat or store food inside the cabin! Pack accordingly. Maine has mosquitos, no-seeums, black flies, ticks, horseflies and fireants in the summer months. I can't control this. Pack good bug dope and smoke em out! If you are looking for a more luxurious glamping experience with electricity and showers, look up Terramor in Bar Harbor. Closest campgrounds if we are booked: Acadia East, Acadia Seashore, West Bay, Mainayr.

About us: We love hosting, making new friends, welcoming people to the property, and are happy to answer any questions about the area prior to your trip-- we provide campers with a Gdoc local's guide to The Point, the area & Acadia. We aim to provide a place for seekers of peace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with Mother Earth & the planet that sustains us.

About you: self-sufficient experienced.

Pets: We allow quiet dogs only no barkers but all must be on-leash or strict voice command and watchful eye as we have outdoor pets near the main house. Dogs must remain at your site/side and are not allowed to roam free on the property.

Guests are responsible for leaving the site as they found it. We have a no-shoe rule in the cabin, slip them off. It’s been very rainy/muddy! Guests who violate rules, break anything or track inside will be charged a cleaning fee.

This site is best suited for 2 adults; in an effort to have minimal ecological effects on the land if you have a bigger group you must book an additional site. In an effort to keep the peace and quiet we do not allow small children at this site, unless your child can use an inside voice. Kids count as people; if they use the bathroom they leave a trace. We take a total weekly guest count and get our potty pumped appropriately or rent additional ones.

Pls keep in mind we are not a traditional campground we are a private residential home and wood lot, just homeowners taking care of some acreage and slowly restoring and building things. Love hosting guests. No showers but who cares, ideal for short term stays, go for a swim to freshen up or baby wipes. Not like a traditional campground with normal amenities, we aim for more privacy between sites for peace and quiet. If you have an RV or large rig we cannot accommodate you at this site, if you book the cabin you must sleep in the cabin there’s no car camping, rv or tent allowed.. After reading all of the raving reviews of this site we were super excited to book and visit this gem. However, the experience was more of a let down mainly because we were woken up in the middle of the night at 1am due to a mouse that chewed into our bag of cups, then got stuck in it, knocked over some things, and also left droppings all over our personal belongings that were on the table. Since the droppings could carry infectious diseases, we spent quite of bit of time in the morning disinfecting all our stuff that came in contact with the droppings using the little disinfectant wipes we had. Please note, we did carry all our food items to store in our car for both nights. I would suggest a metal box to store food items in the cabin that would mice can’t chew through. Writing about it now sounds a bit comical in a way, but we ended up being very tired the next morning. So make sure you don’t leave things lying on the table at night. I understand that the A frame is an older structure with areas where mice could crawl in but there should be better pest control. Also because the cabin is older, the insulation from the colder nights is not great so be sure to buy a couple of Coleman propane tanks to use with the heater that’s provided. For $160/night we kind of expected to have a nicer experience.
Aside from not getting much rest, and the inconvenience of pests, the location was very special and secluded and the sunsets were breathtaking! Lily was very kind to offer us kindling since it rained the previous night and everything was wet. Her site was about a 20 min drive to visit Schoodic Point which was a perfect location to explore that part of Acadia. It is less crowded than the other side of Acadia.

Our stay was short but we had a great time enjoying the beautiful sunsets, walking along the beach, and waking up with the sun. The cabin itself was quiet and cozy and Lily was super hospitable and communicative.

We felt incredibly lucky to have stayed here!

This was such a perfect place! The a-frame was beautiful and the host has done everything to make it feel extra homey! The windows facing the water were the best part, making it possible to fall asleep watching and listening to the waves. Gorgeous views driving in and even more striking view once you arrive!

Absolutely unreal. Not for inexperienced campers. Perfect location to escape the crowds of Acadia. Only feedback would be is to maybe provide a wheel barrel so we can bring down wood to the site! Other than that, perfection.

Glad to hear you had a great time. The site is remote to cars a 1-2 min trail hike into woods; all gear and wood must be carried down. We do have a half dozen wheelbarrows and carts, next time just ask. For future guests reading: Bundles of wood are self-help self carry; if you’ve added on to your booking and pre-paid for multiple bundles of wood we make a note to fell split stack and set aside to ensure we have it wood for you, and deliver your bundles down the cabin so they are waiting for you on-site before your arrival. This has always been a service we provide and is clearly stated in listing.

This A-frame is so sweet and charming. Everything was set up and waiting for us on our arrival- water, lanterns, matches, little lights and chairs with cushions out on the deck by the coast. We sat out on the deck at night with a fire in the wood stove, and our little lanterns, and enjoyed the freshest, most delicious lobster dinner (highly recommend this add on!). I love the way the cabin is styled, its not cluttered, but its beautiful and warm.

I woke up a few times and couldn't believe it was really the ocean I could see from my pillow. The whole space is beautiful and thoughtfully appointed. Lily and Daniel were fantastic hosts and I hope to return someday to this beautiful site.

Perfect, a gem of a place. We loved landing here for a two night visit to the Acadia area. We loved sitting by the water in the mornings and evenings. Super cozy cabin and beach all to yourself. Lily was helpful with recommendations and other tips to make our stay great. Would love to return.
