It was a perfect spot for us. Right off the highway! John went above and beyond before our visit to ensure we knew where to go and how to hook up. We will definitely tell our family and friends that camp and we will be back!

Great stay near New River Gorge NP

Camping at John's tent in Oak Hill was a wonderful experience! John kept us stocked with towels, blankets, propane, and snacks. He even gave us a flashlight to use to navigate the property at night. We were the last to camp in John's tent, which will soon be replaced by a bunkee. The site was clean, comfortable, and private. I look forward to seeing what John does with the place next.

It was wonderful staying here at John's site! This was the perfect base for exploring New River Gorge and the surrounding area, and it also offered lots of privacy and natural beauty. John is an incredible host and person who went out of his way to make everything comfortable. It was heartwarming to see the amount of thought and care he's put into this space and the guest experience. He was very welcoming and made us feel right at home, and we appreciated his wealth of knowledge on local food recs, history, and attractions. We're so glad we found his spot and hope to come back!

A Perfect Road Trip Stop!

The urban wall tent site was the absolute perfect stop for us on our road trip! After an unexpected detour that made our travel day much longer than planned, arriving at John's place was a breath of fresh air. It's super easy to access and perfectly located for getting right back on the highway, but it was also incredibly peaceful, private, and relaxing. We slept great! Even though it rained a little, our tent stayed completely dry and we had plenty of space. Waking up to the sound of birds and a little fountain, then being able to step out of the tent and have a hot shower just a few feet away made for a really lovely morning. Since we arrived after dark, I also very much appreciated that the commode was clean and well lit on both the inside and outside, too. John is an excellent host! He was so friendly and helpful, even when we ended up arriving much later than we'd originally planned. He was so patient and understanding and still took the time to show us around the site. He clearly loves hosting and is constantly making improvements to the site. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we could possibly need, and we really appreciated his thoughtfulness! Highly recommend this spot, especially if you're on a road trip like us. We'd absolutely love to stay again if we pass through the area on another trip.

John was incredibly welcoming and so friendly! Offered to show us around the site and help us get the generator going. We were there during/just after some heavy rain and the hill is no joke when it’s wet, so be prepared. A little loud being right next to the highway, but it becomes white noice after a bit.

I really enjoyed my stay at the "Urban Wall Tent" in Oak Hill. The sunset was amazing (as advertised 🙂) & I think I may have been the first person to take advantage of the new shower. Traffic noise was pretty constant through the night, but not terribly loud. John was a great host.

Amazing stay

I thoroughly enjoyed camping at John’s property. John went above and beyond what was expected of a host. He worked his tail off getting the water heater installed for the shower prior to my arrival and gave me updates along the way. I stayed 4 nights for the Spartan trifecta world championships, so the steep trail to get to the tent didn’t bother me. However, I brought a large cooler and that thing wasn’t making it up said trail. John not only provided me with a smaller cooler to have in the tent, he even went out of his way to buy me a large bag of ice for it. The tent is quite roomy and has a nice inverter connected to two large lithium batteries to allow 120VAC power readily available in the tent. John also provided paracord for me to use as a clothesline. Provided in the tent also includes: a coffee pot, a fan, potable water, cups, paper towels, toilet paper, nice air mattress with linens, cutlery, end tables, chairs, ottoman, and even some snacks. This man has been thinking it through and told me he only plans to make it better as time progresses. You’ll have complete privacy, as this location is elevated above everything around it by 20 feet or so. The porta potty was extremely clean, but keep in mind it is located at the base of the trail. I will book with John again for future WV Spartan events. The venue was only a short 5 minute drive from his property, which was perfect. Sure, you’ll hear traffic, as hwy 19 is right beside the property, but didn’t bother me a bit.

Just what a van camper needs. Very close to many attractions Met John (Great guy) He is intending on updating the van life area with a covered patio and shower. The Porta potty was clean and well maintained. I felt the price was fair

I had a great time staying here! The description was completely accurate and John went above and beyond to make sure I knew about the features of the site. Like the listing says, there is road noise present, so it won’t be really quiet at any point , but it quickly became white noise that didn’t bother me at all. I will definitely stay here again if I’m ever passing through New River Gorge.

Convenient and Easy to find!

This spot was easy to find, close to town and the New River Gorge. Had access to electric, and I had great service. The Host responded quickly and was more than willing to help if I had needed anything. Would recommend this place and I would stay here again!

Hilltop sunrise was a great urban camp for us while we explored New River Gorge NP. Really close to the northern visitors center and close enough to explore the entire park. John the host was great, had fire wood available and a trash can for our convenience. The site has full hook-ups and all work as they should. We would recommend this site for exploring the NP.

Not in an RV Park. A Single site.

This RV Site is super clean and easy to get into and out of. About 1/10 mile off US 19. This is NOT and RV Park, it is a single RV site with a very nice grass yard, picnic table, and fire ring.

Perfect for our needs. We had a day and a half to explore New River gorge with our five young kids ( 14 months to 6 years old) And this was the perfect base for that. Site was side to side level, full hookups worked great with no issues. Be advised that it is right on a state highway, but there was plenty of grass for the kids to run around in without too much worry of the kids running out into the street. John was very welcoming. 10/10 would base here again for a similar trip..
