Mostly you hear chickadees, hermit thrush, and barred owls with an undertone of brook-music. Cold plunging in the brook, fire pit, and solitude are always available. Inside is running water, a composting toilet and shower...and lots of natural light. We provide linens, kitchen essentials, and some food, a notebook of tips for tiny home living, simple compost toilet instructions, and recommendations for dining out, groceries, trails, natur preserves and ski areas. It's worth noting that the tap water is not potable. Drinking water comes from a deep well near Brattleboro. It's wonderful. The tap water comes from an on-site well. It's completely absolutely fine for washing hands, dishes, and showering. While the gravel access road is nearby, traffic averages less than 1 vehicle/hour. In the summer, there are more bikes than cars. We want you to have your version of what we love to do here. Imagine: Drink sunrise coffee by the fire as the birds and brook sing nearby. Your meditation turns the sunny tiny home into a temple of light. Hike nearby trails for hours and come back hungry. Eat a simple, hot meal that tastes even better outdoors. Afernoon yoga practice is slow and rich, and there's nothing to do but listen to your body. You do waterfall pose with your legs on the wall, and through the skylights you see the trees waving in the breeze, or you watch the light change, or hear the raindrops splashing gently. You settle into the gentle rhythm of nature. You feel your nervous system down-shift and it's easier to smile and easier to sleep. You fill up with an energy that is clean, clear, and abundant. You get perspective on your life; urgency melts. Problems soften. It's as if you wake up to simple pleasure. Contentment replaces anxiety. The end of the day brings a natural fatigue that feels good. You sleep deeply. You wake refreshed and happy for another day--another beautiful day.
