My buddy and I had a great weekend getaway to relax at the Woodsman Cabin at Starr Mountain Retreat on 23 acres in the Cherokee National Forest near Reliance, Tennessee. This place is the real deal. It is quiet, private, and surrounded by woods with that perfect peaceful vibe.
The cabin is spotless, well laid out, and seriously comfortable. The queen bed in the main bedroom and the twin beds up in the loft were both very comfortable. They have literally thought of everything. There is a full kitchen, gas fireplace, grill, and all the little details that make it easy. You could literally show up with just a suitcase and feel like you’re checking into a hotel room. No scrambling for basics.
They even had an abundance of dry firewood ready, and they thought of the little things like dry kindling in a bucket ready for use. The fire pit served us well for some great evenings chilling out.
The owners were responsive, and it really shows in how well the place is set up. We felt that the advertisements for this location actually undersell just how excellent it is. This is a first-class spot in the woods. Already talking about coming back. Highly recommend it for any guys looking for a solid relaxing getaway. Thanks Nola and Brian! 🙌

Absolutely the perfect cabin. The cabin had everything we needed and only needed to bring our clothing and food. Nola has thought of everything for this cabin all the way down to the kindling for the fire. The beds were comfortable and the hot water was hot. The AC worked great and we loved the fire pit and front porch.

The cabin was fantastic! It was so clean and comfortable. Everything about it was perfect! We enjoyed relaxing in the peaceful atmosphere. We don’t get a chance to enjoy the outdoor seating area but it looked great. It’s close to a fabulous Amish Farmer’s Market, a small winery and of course river rafting! Already planning our next trip!

Great little cabin! Owners were very responsive and available when we needed them. Our only complaint is that the couch is very uncomfortable and the chair is unsittable due to springs sticking up in the seat. We loved the grill and table on the porch. The grounds are nice, plenty of firewood available, & nice laundry facilities at the lodge! We would definitely come back again! Great time with our 2 teenagers- playing games and relaxing! The wifi was great the entire time we were there!

-Internet is not reliable. Streaming Netflix was hit or miss
-Beds and couch were saggy springs, not very comfortable for us

Wonderful home away from home! Fully stocked cabin with comfortable beds and full kitchen. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the creek they recommended just across the street. Free unlimited firewood and all the fixings for beautiful nightly fires. 10 min drive to the Hiwassee river with river rapid kayaking. This was definitely our favorite Hipcamp so far!

The Woodsman was a phenomenal retreat into childhood. The days of sitting around a campfire, watching the stars, and breathing in that fresh mountain air. The cabin is snug with everything you could possibly need to make the most out of your retreat. Truly our hosts know exactly what they are doing and we will for sure be back!

The whole experience was awesome! The cabin is set on a hill in the forest..it was set up with everything we needed. They have a library there with books and videos. Our granddaughter loved it. We would highly recommend coming here. We plan on visiting again! Thanks Nola!

We stayed in the Woodman. We were very impressed with the cabin. It was clean and had a great practical layout. We went hiking in the Cherokee National forest and enjoyed the waterfalls we found along the way. Our kids were big fans of "The Lost Sea Adventure" in near by Sweetwater. We wish we would have booked a longer stay!

Our stay at the Woodsman cabin was great!
The owners were helpful with how to get to the cabin and very welcoming when arriving. They were also quick to respond/help when we reached out for questions during our stay.
Overall great place to stay — quiet location, clean place, grill and kitchen supplies, nice bathroom/shower.
Definitely recommend this place.

We were upgraded! We had the opportunity to stay at The Mountaineer cabin (larger and with a private hot tub!) instead of the Woodsman. Nola and Brian are very attentive hosts. They took the time to show us where everything was and how everything worked in our cabin. They were both helpful with suggestions of activities to do around the area and even helped arrange one of them (a visit to an underground lake!) My wife and I are looking forward to future visits to this property.
