Our family started vacationing in Tennessee years ago. From the very first time we stayed in mountains we knew we had to make it our home. After years of dreaming we took a huge leap of faith and sold our house in Illinois, packed up everything we owned into a moving truck, and headed south. No jobs, no plans, and everything we knew in the rearview mirror. We landed in Knoxville for a bit while we figured out where we were going to work because paying bills is a necessary evil and started house hunting. We stumbled across this property totally on accident. Turns out it was exactly what we were looking for! My husband dreamed of living in a cabin and I dreamed of hosting guests. Here we have the best of both worlds! We are travelers ourselves and have stayed in so many unique placed all over the country. Wanderers by heart we have met so many lovely people and are excited to meet like minded travelers <3 This property was slightly abused before we found it and is a work in progress but aren't we all that way? The previous owners harvested the trees so it is our goal to bring the property back to its original beauty. You will see us buzzing around planting trees, wildflowers, veggies, and fruit whenever time and weather allows. Gnomaste y'all! Welcome to our little piece of paradise! Located perfectly between Knoxville and Chattanooga this little cottage gives you access to everything the area has to offer. There is so much hiking, boating, fishing, etc nearby it is impossible to list it all. Enjoy the rural setting with gorgeous sunrises/sunsets along with the amazing night sky! Message us for details :) A Gnome Away From Home is the perfect launching point for a relaxing East Tennessee retreat. This is one of two rental units on the property. We also have a 24ft yurt available beginning September 2022. Within an hour you can be in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Tellico Plains, Ocoee etc. Within 1.5 hours you can be in the Smoky mountain national park or nearby in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg for any tourist activity you can imagine. Sweetwater itself is home to a beautiful downtown! We are minutes away from Watt's bar along with SO many outdoor activities! Just a lovely country setting to relax and recharge. Please be sure to read the entire listing <3 it creates much less stress for both the traveler and host. Inside the cottage we have local recommendations for food, drinks, drives, and attractions. We are always more than happy to give recommendations :) The guest cottage/tiny home are yours to enjoy. Please also feel free to wander around the property which is mostly fenced. Please note we do live on site and run a small hobby farm. There are chickens, peafowl, honey bees, goats, alpacas, and dogs on the property along with whatever other animals wander this way. We are not responsible for any accidents involving wandering the yard. This may include tripping, running into a thorn bush or poisionous plant, seeing a cute animal you fall in love with, having a dog run up to you to say hello, finding an egg the chickens have stowed away, being followed by Apollo the peacock, getting a little too close the hive and being stung, noticing the alpacas quietly following you, etc. The chickens are free range. If you have such a fear of birds that this bothers you then our cottage may not be the best fit for your stay.

Welcome to The Hive! This is the second unit on our hobby farm and a nature lovers paradise :) Gorgeous views and abundant wildlife both day and night. After parking near the main home you will take a very short (under 300ft) walk down the hill to the 24ft yurt. On the walk down stop and say hello to the farm animals. Inside the yurt you will have all the amenities to keep you entertained and cozy. Venture out to hike, kayak, shop, etc or just stay in with a good book. The yurt is entirely yours to enjoy. Equipped with a queen size bed as well as a queen size futon you'll have plenty of sleeping room to sprawl out or snuggle up. If extra space is needed we can provide a queen size air mattress as well. The rainfall shower with on demand hot water along with natural lighting feel incredibly luxurious! Sit on the deck and take it the surroundings possibly catching a glimpse of the deer residents or dozens of wild turkeys. Go out and explore on a sunny day or cozy up with a good book on a rainy afternoon.

I absolutely LOVED my stay at the Gnome Cabin. A beautiful cabin nicely adorned with everything you would need. Spectacular star gazing at night. A truly magical place to stay. I would definitely stay there again.

A Gnome Away From Home

I spent six nights at this wonderful little cabin. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the surroundings. The animals on the property were a wonderful and so we're the fresh eggs provided by the host's. It was a wonderful break from the busy hustle and bustle of city life. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet little get away!
