My kids and I had the best time at the GeoDome! A much needed break from the city. We played games all night. But first enjoyed our hiked in dinner on the patio with the sunset. The rainstorm sounded lovely as it put us to sleep. Accommodations were comfortable. And the visits from the goats were a delight. We look forward to coming back in the fall. Hopefully to make use of the wood burning stove.

The dome was a unique stay! The ambiance inside the dome was surprisingly homey. We got to enjoy a beautiful sunset and saw the goats and sheep on their morning walk about.
The walk up to the dome is a little steep and rocky at first, but otherwise not too bad.

We cannot possibly recommend thunder dome any more enthusiastically! Our weekend was so relaxing. Heather greeted us upon arrival and helped us get everything to the dome. The dome itself is perfectly cozy and quaint. Wood stove was so nice and warm on a chilly spring night, and the bed was comfy. This is THE definition of glamping. And the property is gorgeous with several trails into the woods. Last but not least, their goats are absolutely adorable, and one even bonded with us and followed us back to the dome. Absolutely perfect place for a weekend getaway in nature!

The dome itself is cozy while being secluded. I loved being able to see the sunset. Perhaps not a universal experience, but we were escorted to the dome by a baby goat, and that was delightful. The views of the mountains make the stay pretty magical

My sons and I had an awesome winter weekend camp out at the farm! The dome was really cozy and Heather made sure we had everything we needed. We felt right at home from the moment we parked our car until we said our goodbyes on Sunday morning. The property was perfect for exploring during the day and it was quite peaceful at night. The farm animals, especially the goats, were really cool. We even got to be there to welcome a new baby goat into the world! 10/10 recommend this place!

We had a great stay at the Thunder Dome! The wood stove kept the dome cozy on a chilly night and we were lucky enough to witness the northern lights while we were there! Heather is a great host and we loved meeting the goats, would stay again!

Very nice site very nice view comfortable stay and the hospitality was top tier definitely will be bringing my kids back next year before school start. They definitely enjoyed waking up to animals outside the tent.

Heather’s land is gorgeous. Moderate hiking up to the Dome, but she provided a wagon to carry our stuff up and down, and an ATV that she packed up with the heavy stuff and drove, which made the hike more enjoyable. The Dome is fixed with windows facing the west so midday onward is very hot inside, late July. She has sturdy patio furniture to sunbathe and enjoy the deck, as well as a few camping chairs to move about with. Small fire pit with loose stones and a grate to cook over the fire with. We did bring our own propane cooktop for faster cooking which made the fire pit more for marshmallow roasting and enjoying. It was nice to sleep in a real bed off the ground, yet less glamping than an RV due to a small compost toilet and no shower. The goats roam up and down around the Dome several times a day and that was a super unique and cool experience!
On day 2, Heather gave us a goat milk soap making class in her little shop and that was awesome! She shows you the quantities of each ingredient and lets you choose your own scent and color and you get to take home your own handmade soap to cut up and use! The whole experience was delightful. Heather is a great host and honors your time while offering many add ons like a battery, firewood, towels, sheets, cold water, etc. Highly recommend for those that want to camp but don’t want to sleep on the ground and do the whole camp from scratch. :)

Heather was an excellent host, making sure we had everything we needed before we camped. The site had a wonderful view all around, The dome was very homie and welcoming. We also decided to purchase the goat walk. I believe this is a must as you walk 30+ goats up to a pasture in the hills. Definitely a unique experience that I recommend to everyone.

I had a few reservations after reading the last review, but I am SO GLAD I went with my gut that that last camper might have been complaining over nothing. Boy was I right! Heather was the best host and accommodated me from arrival to departure. She indeed asked if I had a headlamp and I did fail to bring one - she had several charged, ready for me to borrow. She helped me get my gear up to the dome, situated on top of this beautiful ridge and walked me through how everything functions. No surprises, as everything was as pictured and described on the website -- it was clean, cozy and cute! I don't "rough it" much and this was a great way for me to unplug, read some books without all the distractions, while still being comfortable & relaxed. All of the animals that I encountered were such a bonus experience, from Porkchop the pig, to the chickens to the goats and all the pups. At first I wished I could have taken my dog, but he would have been overwhelmed with all the critters, so I understand the no pet policy and totally respect it! Since I'm a novice "hipcamper," Heather made sure to go above and beyond to answer all my dumb questions and make sure I enjoyed my stay, educating me on so many aspects of farm & rural living. I wish she had more locations I could visit, but I'll be sure to come back here soon. What an incredible value for such a phenomenal experience!!!

I guess i thought it would be more,
The view was outside amazing, but the dome looked nothing like the pictures.
it was dirty, no electricity ( it was 35 degrees), so no heat.
there wasnt a light in the whole place, and they did give us a large battery to charge our stuff, but it wasn't ready until after we arrived ( i booked 2 months ahead)
they asked us when we arrived if we had headlights to walk to the camp, im glad we did.. what if we didnt?
The toilet was under the porch and we booth didn't trust it.
the wood we bought from them, im glad we did, it wasnt prepped for burning and we had to cut it at 3 am to get some kind of warmth.
the lighters they left us didnt work, glad we had our own.
the extra blankets in the bin, were covered in bugs, and in the morning we found out the bed was to.
the dome pictures are what got my booking, but it wasnt anything like it showed, the dome was dirty inside and out, so you couldnt see the view as shown the in the pics.
im so surprised they are able to rent this out, it was so bad. our truck stop shower the next day was the best thing about the whole night.
i normally dont write bad reveiws but this was bad..

You’ll meet heather down by the road, and load up your stuff in the bank of her 4 wheeler. SO HELPFUL. She’ll walk you behind the house, up through a gate, past the chickens a goats, and up to a large clearing and overlook where the dome is located, then come bank with the 4 wheeler. We brought our pillows and a small propane stove where we cooked breakfast, and we cooked one meal over the fire place. Loved being greeted by goats in the AM. They are so friendly and love being pet! We also drove to center hill lake one day for a reprieve from the heat. The dome starts cooking as soon as the sun comes up and doesn’t cool down until sunset. You’ll want to be out and about during that time if you visit in summer. You’ll want to bring your own cooking utensils, but don’t need to bring your own drinking or washing water.

We love staying in unique, peaceful, beautiful settings and Heather’s Thunder Dome definitely checked off all the boxes. Heather is super helpful with taking your bags and gear up to the dome and back to your car when leaving as long as she is available. The 5 minute walk was perfect to see the scenery whether it was chickens, goats, sheep, or just the trees themselves. The Dome itself had everything we needed. The bed is super comfortable. Everything was clean, there was a battery to us if we needed it, and a fan if it got too hot. The deck is amazing with great views!! A few things that made our stay even better…Heather was a great host, it rained while we slept the first night, the sheep and goats coming to see us each morning, fried bologna and ribeye steak for dinner, knowing that we would love to come back in the winter to see it with snow.

Wonderful experience all around. Heather is a delightful host and very accommodating. She introduced us to the goats and gave us a ride on the 4 wheeler to the dome. The dome was very comfortable. Views don’t disappoint and the whole experience was quite relaxing. Would recommend and stay again!

The view was absolutely amazing. The host was friendly and we did the goat hike and that was fun. So many goats lol. The dome does get very hot during the day. The toilet is under the deck kinda uncomfortable and hard to get to we always bring our own camp toilet and shower and id recommend that. You can not park at cite and it's prob 5-8 min hike to and from car to cite. Over all it was pleasant

BEAUTIFUL view! Sad we didn’t have more time to explore. This is a great place to get away from the city life but still pretty close to civilization (I had 3 bars on my Verizon phone). The view of the stars was simply AMAZING! It was peaceful and relaxing. This would be a great place for someone that wants to get into nature but doesn’t necessarily want to deal with all visitors in state parks. Heather was a great host! We had a few mishaps that set our arrival time back and Heather was very gracious and understanding.

We loved Heather’s Thunder Dome. Such a unique experience, and Heather was a great host that made sure we had everything we needed. The second night of our stay we had the pleasure of being put to sleep with a rain storm. Loved this hipcamp and will definitely be returning.

We loved the dome! Would reccommend. Pictures don’t do the view justice. Also Heather is very helpful and sweet! The dome was fairly warm when we arrived (as expected- it was 80 degrees) but opening the “windows” on the side helps a lot with air flow! Not that we’re complaining. They also provide a fan and battery to plug things into. The dome was tidy, spacious, and like I said the view was amazing. It’s a good walk from owners home so feels very private. We plan to stay again :)
