Thank you so much for the awesome campsite for the weekend on Crawdad #1..The site was clean, and although they are very close together, there was a separating screen, and the neighbors on both sides were very kind and hospitable. It’s hard not to enjoy the campsite creek in serene setting during our visit, and the campsite has all the essentials, including fire, pit, chairs, and all of the cooking screens you would need over a fire pit.
The porta-potty was clean and well kept and close enough to camp to find your way without giving off any unpleasant odor to the campsite.
The boys really enjoyed the dock where they were able to wade through the water, catching crawdads and looking for fishing holes up and down the creek.
Unfortunately, there was a bees/wasps nest located, just as you step onto the dock from the stairs, and one of the boys was stung on the foot when we first arrived. However, after they knew it was there they just avoided that area and avoided, stirring up the nest as much as possible.
Otherwise, the mosquitoes weren’t bad in this area, which is such a relief as we have been to some campsites where they are horrendous.
Although we couldn’t pull up to the campsite with our vehicle, we were able to park it very close in the parking lot in front of the cabin.
The picnic table was great to use for our items during meal time and keep stuff off of the ground since it is dusty around the site. Thank you again for hosting us and we will definitely be back!

We loved it! So amazing, the crawdad campsite is very close and not much privacy. Definitely still such a good place, and being by the creek was awesome.

While it is true that you are pretty much just camping in a side yard, I went into it with that knowledge and for a side yard, it is pretty sweet. We went M-W so we probably benefitted from a lack of people and it was pretty quiet. You can hear a bit of noise from the highway, but mostly you hear Crescent Creek. The water is great and having the little dock is cool. We rented both of the spots so we would go back and forth between the docks. I must add, if you are going to stay here, have a group big enough to take both spots. The 2 sites are close enough that it would be a bit odd. Might as well stay at a State Park at that point. It is a perfect base camp for exploring the lakes and trails nearby. I took advantage of the outdoor shower. You need to bring your own. The shower is essentially a 3 walled stall. The cute outhouse looked like it hadn't been used in quite sometime, but there was a port-a-potty on sight. I would stay here again.

We loved this camp site! Our favorite part was the deck along the river. It was close to the first campsite (Crawdad), but still peaceful and quiet.
This site has room for one tent (maybe two) and it includes a fire pit and a table with four chairs. The dock fits three chairs and an umbrella. We absolutely loved hanging out on the dock and playing. There is more privacy at this location compared to the Crawdad site right next door. A grass mat separates the two. If someone else stayed at the other site they would have to walk down the path, through this site to get to the other one. We could hear highway road noise.
This is the second time we've stayed at this site. They have done some updates, like a fire ring around the fire pit and added a picnic table. We love hanging out on the dock and playing in the water. Plus, we are close to the Cascade Lakes, Crescent Lake, and a store. The dock is bigger at this site, but it's very close to the rustic cabin. The cabin has a lot of stuff surrounding it, think visual clutter. No one has stayed at the cabin at the same time as us, but there is an AirBNB one house over and the guests who were staying there had music playing and a dog who roamed into our area. This site is very close to the second site, with only a grass mat between two trees for privacy. We rented both sites to ensure we'd have total privacy. And there is some noise from the highway. Otherwise it's peaceful and an enjoyable place to stay.

Wonderful space to decompress and relax by the creek/river. The sounds of the bubbling river is exactly what my soul and spirit needed.
In response to some other reviews - yes there are houses close by and the other campsite is RIGHT THERE but don’t let that deter you. Rent both sites for yourself if you are super worried about it.
This peaceful setting reset my body, soul and spirit and reconnected me with my creator. It’s was exactly what my son and I needed. Thanks for sharing this amazing place!

I was expecting a more isolated setting . With the word “ sanctuary” and no cell coverage, , I imagined a private campsite
Wonderful location along the creek.
My day was just what I needed. Thank you.
Site 2 - Rainbow was great! It is further from the house, which we appreciated! The river was so beautiful, it was lovely!
Great camp site with everything you need. Short drive to Crater Lake and other beautiful hiking

We enjoyed our stay camping on Robert’s land. The direct access to the creek was amazing during the day, as well as hearing it at night! The stars were absolutely INCREDIBLE. Note: you are VERY close to the other campsite, and although we didn’t have any other campers during our stay, that could deter you if you came uninformed! Overall enjoyed our time.

My favorite part of the campsite is the access to the creek. The dock with chairs and umbrella is a really great place to hang out. The campsite had a table and chairs that were comfortable and a fire ring as well.
There are a total a two campsites. I had read in other reviews that they are close together, so we reserved them both and invited another family to join. I definitely suggest to reserve them both. It was really nice to share the space and the kids really loved the extra running space.
Something good to know, is that these campsites are amongst what seem to be rental vacation homes. We didn't find it to impede on our experience but some might like to know that.
Over all, the camping is great. We loved the creek and all of the sweet little touches to the space.

We enjoyed our stay at Rainbow. Having the dock and the creek at our site was really nice. The site table was perfect for playing games at. The road noise wasn't super noticable over the peaceful sounds of the creek. The site stayed reasonably shaded during the afternoon heat, which made a nice reprieve after spending the day at Crescent Lake. Would camp here again!
We loved camping here!! The dock was perfect for floating and reading. The creek was perfect, it made the best soundtrack to sleep to. There are lots of spots to put hammocks up. It's very dusty but that's to be expected. Just don't wear shoes or clothes you care about. The porta potty was very clean. There are lots of chairs, we definitely didn't need to pack any of ours. There were picnic tables available too. The directions on how to get there were very clear. It was great for star gazing too, the stars were super bright. There were neighbors but they were very quiet. Gorgeous spot, I would definitely visit again.
Lovely plot of land in an amazing part of Oregon and it’s clear the owners love this place, but it felt less like camping, and more like sleeping in a stranger’s side yard.
I get that the pictures in the listing are highlighting the features, but they felt like they were strategically excluding the sites’ proximity to buildings. If I had read more of the reviews, or checked the location before booking, I would have seen this, and probably opted to stay at a state site or found something on a forest road.
The good:
- proximity to amazing recreation
- owner responded to questions lighting fast
- relaxing on the docks watching the misty river in the morning
- cleanest dang porto I’ve ever experienced
The meh:
- highway & train noise all day and night
- thin woods offer no privacy from their vacation home or neighbors
- camp pads are right next to one another
- could not drive up to camp pads; had to use our roof to tent in parking area

We had the place to ourselves. Easy to find, quiet, and well set up with a bathroom close by, private dock, picnic table and chairs. It’s a beautiful spot. You will be near permanent homes but we didn’t see or hear anyone during our stay.
We reserved both spots for 8 people. It was very nice. We visited the nearby lake 2 days, salt creek waterfall for a hike and just staying at camp with the awesome docks on the creek. This was our 5th year visiting and we plan to keep coming back.

This was our second time staying here. We love the location and being right on the creek with our own little dock with chairs. We also make good use of the provided cornhole! The two sites are close, but we've never had any issue with other campers. Highly recommend.

This was our second stay at this hipcamp and the location and space are incredible. Only issue is how close the sites are. The couple staying at the other site were loudly & consistently fighting the entire weekend which made relaxing and enjoying hard.

Such a cute site! Great space and so fun that it’s right on the little river. We only booked the one site and no one had booked the other so it felt pretty private. If I came back I would probably book both sites to make sure not to have neighbors as the sites are right beside each other. Porta potty was very clean! Lots of little lights left up at the site as well. Highly recommend.
We stayed here two night, using the place as our base for visiting Crater Lake. The site was the last home / property down a private road. No one was in the home and the other campsite wasn’t booked, so we had the place to ourselves. The owners put some thought and effort into making the two sites appealing, like solar lighted pathways and picnic tables. They left a dog water bowl for our two dogs. We loved sitting on the deck next to the creek - so relaxing. And the freshly cleaned porta-potty was nice too (the outhouse is being repaired). But the site was very buggy in the mornings and evenings, and our Sprinter van took up most of the very limited parking area. My husband and our dogs liked this place very much so. I didn’t like the mosquitoes. I think a big reason why we mostly liked this site was how secluded it felt. If another group had booked the other campsite (which is separated by a Cost Plus-type screen) I don’t think we would have enjoyed the place as much.

Rainbow campsite was fantastic! We were in the area for a music festival in Redmond. It was a short drive from the campsite to Redmond or Bend. The scenery is beautiful. The river is about ten steps away. You might bring some bug spray for the mosquitos, but other than that, it was perfect!

We loved camping here. The site is great and very relaxing. Just what we wanted. The parking does not directly connect to the campsite though, so we couldn’t use our car tent.
We had a wonderful stay at Crawdad campground. The private dock was such a highlight and the sound of the creek was so peaceful. The picnic bench and chairs were a really nice added bonus. There was another camp very close but the other campers were lovely neighbors. We would definitely return for another low key vacation!

My friend and I really enjoyed our time at this site. It’s an absolutely beautiful creek and the dock is great! We did feel a bit awkward doing our tent camping, camp stove and dishpan using, picnic table eating, lantern/headlamp flashing, and tooth brushing routines right next door to a large, occupied home with windows facing our site. That said, I’m so thankful that this owner shares his beautiful space and that the neighbors don’t seem to mind. Just something to consider if privacy is important to you.

The campsites are right next to each other, as stated in the description, and there is also a cabin/house on each side. The creek is really nice. The campsite is all sand, so it is very dusty. There were also a LOT of ants around the site, which the people who stayed in the other site commented on as well. I always expect mosquitoes when camping, especially in the woods, but definitely bring bug spray! Overall, it was a nice experience and I would probably stay again if we are ever back in the area.
