Peace Park Campsites on the Towpath
Joe's great, spots are as advertised. I think it's pretty cool you can camp IN a portion of dried up canal away...! Joe can clue you in on quite a lot of history and background of the area. Super close to several great restaurants in the Bolivar business district. Great jumping off point to do more exploring of the zoar valley trail, the village of Zoar, Dover, and New Philadelphia.

Joe was really nice. Super informative. The campsite was primitive, but had everything we needed. A fire ring, a portajohn, and electricity nearby. Only a mile away from downtown Bolivar, where we enjoyed a couple of cold brews and dinner.

Towpath Hideaway
We loved tent camping on Joe's land! My girlfriend and I booked this spot as the last stop on our Ohio Tow Path journey. Joe provided firewood and a free lesson on the history of the area. The spot is located right off the Towpath and is a great alternative to Bolivar/Zoar sites.

Towpath Fun
This was our second time staying here and it was just as great as the first. Wanted to come back for Fall camping to see the beautiful area around the river. Joe was once again an excellent host. We will be back!

Great Spot, Great Host
My stay at Peace Park was great! Joe is an excellent host, very welcoming and full of knowledge about the area’s history. I’d planned on staying here during my ride down the OE Canal but didn’t make any actual reservations. Upon arrival, I just rang the doorbell and Joe sprung into action. Very low key site, there are neighbors to be mindful of which didn’t bother me at all. I stayed on a weeknight pretty late in the season (last week of September) and was the only camper there. Doesn’t seem like the place to have a camp party or be blasting music. The neighborhood coyotes were a joy to hear at night. There is a active railway pretty close by so if that bothers you, you’ve been warned. Sounds like Joe has a lot of improvements to the site in the works. Will definitely recommend this site to friends, and look forward to visiting again if I’m ever back on the OE Canal. Thanks Joe!!!

Hip 'Historical' Camp
We enjoyed wandering the pathway adjacent to the cam area. Joe has quite a historical site on and around his property. Ask him about the local significance...

I loved the quiet space, close to nature but not too far from town we could get things we forgot. The train is a little annoying but doesn’t bother me as I grew up with the noise.

Joe, was amazing, helpful and super knowledgeable of the area. I stayed 2 nights just needed a quiet quick getaway and this was the spot. Campsites are clean, safe and easily accessible. Each site has a nice picnic table and fire pit. I will definitely be back. This weekend was everything I had hoped for and more. Thank you Joe..

Peace Park Campsites on the Towpath
There were a few good features at this campsite - it was close to the towpath for a nice walk (or bike-ride), the ground was flat enough for 2 tents in one site, the porta-potty was large and pleasant, and there was water available (we didn't use it, but I appreciate it was there), and a nice fire ring. The host was genial and helpful when a light on the shed kept coming on and disrupting our quiet campfire. I didn't realize the site was so close to both the road, and the host's house and the neighbor's house. There was traffic all night, a train passed by which drowned out the cicadas and there were lights on both houses. If you are looking for something secluded - this is not it, and it wasn't clear from the pictures how close everything was. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, and it was reasonably priced, but I prefer more seclusion.

Towpath Bikepack Campsite
The campsite is extremely convenient to the Towpath and we were bikepacking so it was a perfect location. I appreciated having a picnic and campfire ring onsite. The host was kind and friendly, but a little too chatty, coming to our campsite on both days and spending 30 min rambling is overkill friendliness. The Port-o-Potty was undesirable. The date of the last cleaning was over two weeks prior. We peed in the woods.

Probably the best little hidden gem in the entire state of Ohio. Stayed 2 nights and would have liked to stay 2 weeks. The owner Joe is a very remarkable person that has a vast knowledge of the area. He has plenty of interesting stories to tell. He also makes the place very welcoming to all races , genders. What a great weekend. Clean campsites and priced very friendly for any budget. Directly on the Topath and just a few minutes walk to the canoe livery. Tremendous experience. We will be back.

Joe came out to greet us and was super friendly and explained the history of the property. The place was super well set up with trash cans, a portapotty, drinking water, and an outlet. The sites are perfect for tent camping and the location was easy to find. The nearby road stays pretty busy overnight and there is a train that ran as well. It was a really nice campsite and you can see the work Joe puts in!

Great camping and location!
The host was great and well versed in the history of this property. It is right next to a bike trail and has some cool camp spots. I had a great night's sleep ... but must mention the one train. The horn was very loud but brief and I don't mind the sound of trains in the background while camping. Overall it was a great place to stay!

Bikepack Camp
Great property that is well maintained. Could never be overcrowded the way Joe has this setup. Electricity and a bathroom to boot and less than a mile to restaurants and a convenient. Joes care and enthusiasm for what he has going here is super apparent and he’s the nicest guy as well. Oh, and he supplies firewood, something a bikepacker can’t exactly bring along. Only negative would be that currently there’s only a few hammock spots and the site closest to the trail can be a little loud until it’s pretty late. Definitely not something that would keep me from using this spot again. Five starts Joe, nice job!

GREAT for cyclists. Not remote.
This is a great site if you're a cyclist- it's right on the towpath, and near lots of breweries within cycling distance. If you're looking for a quiet, remote spot with privacy, this is not quite your jam. It's a beautiful space, but all sites are close together and right next to a busy road, the tow path, and working train tracks. Joe and Kyle are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. If when you book, you tell Joe you want to hang a hammock, he will accommodate that. He is a great conversationalist and offers many great amenities at this site, such as ample dry firewood for sale (at a great price!), nearby and easily accessible power outlets, nearby and easily accessible water hose, and nearby porta potty. Parking is also very close to the campsites, but they are next to a slope. If you have mobility problems, ask for photos to gauge the walkway from parking to the campsites. There is a picnic table and fire ring at each campsite. Joe will work with you to make your stay enjoyable; he is on-site and immediately answered all of my questions and gave great recommendations for hiking trails and historical points of interest nearby (like the town of Zoar). I recommend this site, especially if you are a cyclist. It is not a private spot - it is clearly intended to cater to active campers looking to explore the area, and to cyclists stopping for the night along the towpath. I had a lovely experience and will undoubtedly return.

We really enjoyed our stay on Joe's land. Everything was really well set up and well maintained. Joe met us when we arrived and gave us some history on the land and its surrounding areas. The property itself is right next to a trail and was really great for exploring. Joe was a really great host, helped us with getting firewood and we got meet his daughter and their puppy. Communicated with us the whole way and was really helpful with any questions we had. There is a train that runs nearby so if you're a light sleeper just bring some ear plugs and you'll be all set. For our first time with HIPCAMP this was a great experience, would definetly come visit again.
