Our little hobby farm was procured in December 2021. While we're just getting started our new home, we hope you'll enjoy sharing the orchard, meadows, forest, and swimming pond with us. "Roads go ever ever on, under cloud and under star. Yet feet that wandering have gone turn at last to home afar." Learn more about this land: Come relax atop the Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio. Enveloped in the heart of Tranquility Wilderness Area, our 11 acres has a mix of native pawpaw, peach, pear, and persimmon trees, deciduous forest, cedar woods, wild meadows, a small swimming pond, and a large, accessible field for ample flat for tents and room to play. Trails through the woods are being worked on, and facilities expanded as the seasons pass. Mellow nature’s soundtrack of birds, crickets, and frogs and enjoy an incredibly clear view of the night sky. Hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, hunting, swimming, and more are available at several state parks and historical sites like within 10-30 minutes of the farm. Amish country is likewise near at hand with several bakeries, markets, furniture shops, and greenhouses. Our primitive sites are spaced for privacy, with a gravel parking area near the cottage and additional field parking is available near the road on the opposite site of the main house. While most sites are walk-in only, the upper field sites may be able to be parked near and the Lower Meadow, Boneyard, and Oak Grove may be able to be driven to, as weather and site conditions permit.

Come try dark sky glamping at it's finest. Primitive, yet well insulated and cozy in all four seasons with the blue flame fireplace, our one room cottage has magnificent views of the forested hillside, pond, and sunset. Relax on the wrap around porch, take a hike, explore the woods, or wander down to the pond for a swim. The pond has some big catfish lurking in the depths, along with bluegill and more. Close to Serpent Mound and minutes from the trails and ranges at Tranquility Nature Preserve. We hope you'll think out little retreat is a real treat. The cottage has a queen bed, a full over full bunk bed, lounging bean bags, a large memory foam fluf, and a couch. A window AC does a great job keeping the place cool in the summer, and the blue flame fireplace keeps the cottage toasty on those colder days. Save on camp stove fuel with the full electric oven, and while full cookwear is not provided, there are enough plates, bowls, flatware, and pots and pans for light meals. There is a lighted outhouse on the opposite site of the mains house for camper use. Please note that the outhouse is on the house septic system and will be replaced by a porto in the event there are more than 12 campers on the land to avoid overloading the system. The outdoor shower house is open seasonally from last to first freeze (~4/15-10/15).

Bring your RV, trailer, or camper van and choose from several graveled or grass sites at the very front of the property. Home Afarm offers pristine dark sky camping atop an Appalachian foothill, enveloped in the heart of Tranquility Wilderness Area. Our 11 acres has ample foraging opportunities with native pawpaw and persimmon trees, deciduous forest, cedar woods, wild meadows, and quarter acre swimming pond. The driveway loop allows for easy camper pull through with 75' of parking and plenty of shade to help keep camper camp a cool oasis in the summer heat. Camper camp's grassy sites include the area just to the left of the barn just off the driveway where the fire ring is located, or the area within the center of the gravel loop itself. There are also ample level grassy sites in the main field's parking area for large events that could be alternate parking for campers if preferred. No hookups or trash service, pack it out.

Site 3: The Back Pocket

There's a secret clearing in the woods just off the northwest corner of the upper field across from the beehives. Set up your tent in the woods, or take advantage of the deep shade near the treeline to be able to sleep in and still get those fantastic sunrise views.

Just to the north of Ke's pond are two old oak trees sheltering a moderately sloped clearing, in the clearing is the entrance to the Cedar Wood. The site wraps around the side of the hill following the old logging road. A lichen and moss covered trail wends along the bottom of the grove, revealing a scattering of truly beautiful hike in spots perfect for backpacking tents interspersed in the woods, larger glamp tents can fit in the Oak Grove clearing or along the logging road. Slightly to moderately sloped, fully shaded. Unloading access along the old logging road is available for AWD/4X4 only.

First READ THE DESCRIPTION fully- the cottage only has an outhouse; the hot tub is extra, charged by the day. The cottage was clean and cozy. The outhouse was as you would expect. The hot tub was next to the cottage, which might feel weird if you were camping elsewhere on the property and could potentially be loud to a cottage dweller. It is also next to the outdoor kitchen, which could be weird depending. The outdoor shower was so cool- never thought I'd have a reason to say that in life. Close to Serpent Mound, Peebles, etc. Hosts were responsive and as friendly as we wanted- not intrusive.

Basil was a great host; quick responses and friendly. The eggs from her farm were delicious. The places is pet friendly . The property is beautiful with blenty of trees and trails to walk. The cottage comes equipped with lots of amenities such as, stove, mini refrigerator, microwave, window unit for cooling, cooking supplies, and coffee maker. You must provide your own towels and bedding. The cottage is close to Basil's house. Thank you for sharing your property with us.

We loved staying in the cottage. We stayed for almost a week with our dogs during an event and we found it to be very reasonable. Of course, taking a shower outside at 5 am in 45 degrees sounded daunting at first, but was surprisingly doable! And showering under the stars was an amazing experience. We did take advantage of the hot tub once and really enjoyed it. We cooked on the grill outside several times and were lucky enough to witness the Aurora Borealis one evening. They are attentive hosts but we were also given all the privacy we needed. I would absolutely recommend this place!

The site was perfect, roomy and a good tent area. The hosts were super accommodating with a last minute booking and helpful with directions and firewood. The beehives were a pleasant surprise and the lake was gorgeous. We had a wonderfully relaxing evening from our everyday.

This stay was beyond perfect. The camping sites are awesome. The owners are kind. We stayed on the summer solstice and the view of the sky was lovely. This place provided a beautiful experience. Looking forward to returning next time I visit Serpent Mound again.

The sacred land is beautiful, well kept, crafted, and peaceful. I enjoyed my cottage stay, breakfast on the porch overlooking the pond and wildlife, and circled around the fire. The farm fresh eggs, firewood delivered to the pit, and the outdoor shower were delightful! I would definitely come again for a few more nights.

Hipcamp/Home AFarm is aimed more for tent camping - for tent camping I’d give Home Afarm 5 stars. The camp site is lovely. We were in a 32ft RV and although do-able getting to the site was a tight squeeze and we’ve got new tree branch scratches along the sides. Navigating the rocks on the driveway was also tricky & swinging it around to get out. We were initially asked to park off the gravel driveway on the grass that sloped slightly so cars could still pass. This isn't practical / comfortable in a larger RV (small slopes feel a lot bigger!). One of the reasons we booked was because of the shower, which was wasn’t working & cold only - refreshing but not ideal. Overall I would recommend but not for larger RVs. The driveway is long enough to fit on but getting in/out could cause some damage.

Site 5: The Low Meadow

Home Afarm was a beautiful camping spot! It's in a really dark part of Ohio so you were able to see so many stars when the sky is clear. My girlfriend and I went here for her first ever camping trip and it could not have gone smoother. The pond was also very nice as we were able to swim in it. It is not very big but the deeper parts of the water were very cool and refreshing. Basil was also an amazing host. She was extremely helpful leading up to the trip answering any questions we had, and once we got there, she personally helped us get to our campsite. Could not recommend home Afarm more! I will definitely be returning at some point.

Basil was very accommodating to us. We were able to get a spot on her land within 10 mins. as we were driving through town, looking for a place to stay! The campsite was shaded and large! There was a shower and an outhouse, as well as a fire pit and wood to purchase. I would definitely recommend Basil's site. She was also nice enough to recommend a Winery, Living Wright Winery, that we did go to and really enjoyed!!

Great location, hosts, and vibes!

Hi HipCamp Fam, this place is a beauty! We have been eyeing this location for a while and when we decided to go to the Serpent Mound this was in the area so it was a match made in heaven 🥹 I really liked going there in the winter months because we had the land pretty much to ourselves which is great for us since we have our 2 fur babies who ran until the stars came out! The hosts house is right next door but Jonah and Basil are fantastic hosts; they have the basics you need in the cabin and they are no bother plus they have cute dogs, too. So, it didn’t bother us one bit that their house was next door 😇 oh and the views there are gorgeous, you have an excellent view of the stars at night. Honestly can’t wait to go back during the summer equinox! Lastly, don’t forget to check out the Serpent Mound then stop by local fountain of youth. Such a cool experience. Side note: there is this donut place like 15 minutes away with the best donuts I have ever had with great customer service, it’s called BEEKAYs and it is a must! You’ll be dreaming about those donuts 🍩

Basil's property, Home Afarm, is exactly as advertised. The tent sites are clean and really varied. The ones in the Oak grove are super private and shady and very close to the swimming pond. The site called the "Back Pocket" is at the very crest of a ridge, and faces east, so it gets full early morning sunlight, vampires be advised. I'm looking forward to staying there again, next time with more time to invest in actual camping, not just sightseeing. The camp hosts are very pleasant, civilized and fun to talk to! Although the hot shower was officially shut down for the season, they took the time to temporarily set it up for us, which was really considerate of them.

Overall a great experience. Loved the nature and the owners were great! Only downside was that the curtains in the cabin were pretty sheer. Any other weekend probably not a big deal but it was our anniversary weekend and the cabin was closer to the house so, not as much privacy as was hoping for. On the balance though, it was a nice get away for us as well as our two dogs and we will happily return. Just maybe not for a romantic getaway.

Had an excellent stay at Camper Camp. Had a nice flat and private spot to park. Being back from any main roads made for quiet evenings, but still close enough base camp to adventure around the Adams Co area. Basil got us set up with a new fire pit but the weather had other plans. We were able to connect to the wifi though and enjoyed a rainy night movie in the camper. Camp shower on site was most excellent! Instant hot water and plenty of room to clean up. This site is great value and we will definitely be back.

We stayed in the cabin and loved it! The property is tranquil and beautiful. It is a wonderfully quiet at night you can see all the stars. The cabin was fantastic and has everything you need - except make sure to bring your own water (as mentioned in the property description). The kitchen has a lot of dishes and pots and a super stove. The bunk beds are double sized. Between the bunks and the beds, you could sleep 6 people no problem. I think it would be a great place for a friend or family reunion- or for a study or meditation retreat.

My girlfriend and I had a great time staying at “The Cottage” at Home Afarm! The property was beautiful and it was really nice being able to let our dog roam leash-free. It was a very comfortable and clean space which felt like a steal for the price. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area!
