Earn this patch by being the first to spend a night outside at a new Hipcamp.
Blue Bear Adirondack Camp is a private 80-acre woodland retreat in Hadley, New York, tucked into the southern Adirondacks. Two small mountain peaks rise from the property, with logging trails winding to summit views overlooking the surrounding forest and lake country. It's a place built for slowing down and reconnecting with nature. Just 2 miles away, Great Sacandaga Lake offers swimming, fishing, and paddling, with kayaks available upon request. Back on the property, wander the trails, watch for birds and wildlife in the meadow, and pick from a cultivated blueberry patch in late summer. When night falls, minimal light pollution reveals some of the clearest skies in the region—ideal for stargazing, spotting the Milky Way, and astrophotography around the campfire. The property sits about 30 minutes from West Mountain, Saratoga Springs, and Lake George, making day trips easy, though most guests choose to stay put. Your stay is in a rustic, off-grid loft cabin with a wood stove and composting toilet—a true unplugged escape with room to breathe, trails right from your door, and 80 acres of quiet largely to yourself. We welcome campers of every background to feel at home here and to find safety, belonging, and joy beneath the trees and stars. Bring your boots, a sense of adventure, and a little curiosity—the mountain will take care of the rest.Blue Bear Cabin is a rustic off-grid loft cabin tucked into 80 acres of private Adirondack forest, two miles from Great Sacandaga Lake. This is a true unplugged escape — no electricity, no running water, no Wi-Fi, and no cell signal — built for hikers, writers, paddlers, and anyone ready to trade screens for woodsmoke and birdsong. The cabin is a sturdy, weather-tight structure with a sleeping loft. It sleeps up to 6: two twin beds, a futon, and floor space for a few more in sleeping bags (bring your own); an air mattress can be set up on request. A wood cook stove provides heat and cooking, there's a private composting toilet, and an outdoor campfire area right outside. Trails lead onto the property directly from the front step. Please read carefully — this is a camping experience in a cabin and does not have traditional amenities. Bring headlamps and lanterns (no electricity), drinking water or a filter (no running water), and warm layers. There's an experimental outdoor shower (a filled water barrel, 12V pump, and propane heat) — treat it as a bonus, not a guarantee. Winter stays are for experienced wood-stove users only. Great Sacandaga Lake is 2 miles away for swimming, fishing, and paddling; kayaks are available by request. At night, with no light pollution, the Milky Way is stunning. Hadley is 10–15 minutes away for supplies, so stock up before you head up the mountain. Perfect for experienced campers, backpackers, stargazers, and small groups comfortable roughing it. Not a fit for first-timers who need an indoor bathroom, running water, or electricity. Message us with any questions before booking — we'd rather help you find the right stay than have you arrive unprepared.
