Peaceful farm setting on a working horse property. Offering limited, laser levelled fully turfed sites, to allow space. The large lake is a feature of the property and abounds with bird life of many species. This campsite suits fully self sufficient campers with own drinking water and toilet/shower amenities. Pets are welcome by arrangement, especially your horses (please contact us to arrange holidaying with your dog or horse before booking). In summer you may see mumma swan and her baby cygnets, as well as lots of ducklings. Drop in your paddle board or kayak for a leisurely paddle. Please note these campsite are for 2 people with one car only (children welcome to visit with adults). Take a relaxed stroll around the property and depending on the season you might spy a wylie fox or a turtle laying eggs. Deer occasionally visit and echidnas and wombats, although nocturnal animals sometimes are a precious sight. There are platypus in the creek and fish in the lake. Pre-booked riding lessons available. We have a state forest over the road suited to bush walking or mountain bikes. Ammo the horse who galloped out in the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony is buried here at Lakestead Farm. We love to speak about our Olympic experience. We are located minutes from the M1, easy to break your journey, 40 minutes from Wahroonga and Newcastle exit. Just 5 minutes drive to Wyong Centre with shopping centre and good restaurants, and 20 minutes drive to beaches. Off the ground fires are allowed outside bushfire season. Wood to be supplied by campers. Our property is designed to welcome small groups of people who want a quiet getaway. Because we like to keep it more intimate, The property is not designed for large groups of 10 or more wanting a social gathering or party. We are an easy 40 minute drive to the Hunter Valley wineries and concerts in the vines Locally we have some great festivals to visit the Glenworth Food and Wine festival, Yarramalong valley Spring fair with Scarecrow comp, Wyong Love Lanes festival, Harvest festival, Ratmines Catalina Festival, Brisbane water Oyster Festival to name a few.

Lakestead Farm - Rustic dairy stay

We loved camping in the swags in the old dairy shed, it was perfect for an easy overnight camp. Slightly perched on an incline- we had lovely views across the farm and the lake. Lots of wildlife around, esp the birds on the lake. Sandy was very helpful and communicative, and we would definitely go back. Many thanks 😊

Level, grass area! Tea Tree site offers shade in the morning. Stunning lake view. Great spot to bring a paddle board. Great location for a quick weekend get away from Sydney. Host Sandy very helpful with booking :)

Tranquil two day camp

Seriously some amazing views over the lake. We woke up both mornings to mist rolling in. The sounds at night of all the birds and small creatures was very soothing. My daughter does show jumping and had a lesson with Sandy. It showed her a whole different aspect of horse riding. We paddle boarded on the lake which was quite warm. It is really beautiful country out there with plenty to do.

Dry camp

We loved staying here. We picked a site on the lake and watched as the sun set a multitude of birds fly in and settle for the night. Sandy was very friendly and we were able to walk around the farm and visit the horses. Highly recommend.

Sandy was good to deal with. We stayed 2 nights on "the bend" campsite as the others away from the road were boggy from all the recent rain. We didn't realise that the farm is so busy with people attending horses , and lots of cars arriving for horse clinics and feeding horses etc. The site was spacious over looking the lake . The lake was nice , lots of birdlife. The farm is very close to the highway so the traffic could be heard. This would be a great spot for those wanting an overnight stop off if travelling with horses

Amazing spot by the lake

The properly is immaculately kept. There are a number of camping spots right next to the banks of a large lake which is gone to bass, golden perch and an assortment of birds. Alternatively there is paddock space to camp if the banks are too wet. Sandy was an amazing host, very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to visiting again!

Relaxed and Reset

The Location of Sandy's Farm was exceptional we stay for 4 days in our caravan on the high side over looking the beautiful eco lake so many birds and wild life felt like we were in the Savannah. Sat in the old milking shed watching the amazing Sunsets definitely relax and reset Thank you Sandy for sharing such a amazing place Cheers

Exquisite starry night sky

Loved how quiet and serene the landscape was. Loved watching the starry night sky next to our cosy warm firepit. Sandy was a super star and provided the best first horse riding experience for our kids! It’s all they have been talking about :) Thank you again Sandy! We will be back!

Great Camping

We had a really nice evening/morning at the Lakestead Farm - rustic dairy stay. The original Lakestead sites were still very wet from the rain and Sandy happily offered us the dairy stay instead, which was really appreciated :) Lots of birds and a very enjoyable stay!

A slice of caravanning heaven

Lakestead Farm is just such a beautiful spot to camp and caravan. We have been back 3 times now and I’m sure there will be many more. It is only 20 minutes from home for us but we could be 3 hours from home and not get somewhere so lonely.

Beautiful lakeside camp!

We absolutely loved camping here. We always hunt down more private, picturesque spots and this one nailed it. Sandy is awesome and so friendly helping us find a spot despite all the wet spots due to the recent rains. I can’t believe how close this is to Sydney and dog friendly too. 5/5
