Within a 60-minute drive from the Mesa Verde.
A quiet, beautiful spot with 360 degree mountain views of the best of what the Animas Valley has to offer. Sip your morning coffee and watch Durango's famous train chugging up the valley each morning, the red cliffs behind, the deer (and elk if your lucky!) grazing in the open space before you. Enjoy the Durango Hot Springs, James Ranch, Dalton Ranch Golfing, Hermosa Creek Mountain bike trails, and Honeyville Honey all in easy access up the valley. Centrally located 8 minutes to Durango, 20 minutes to Purgatory.Accommodations include a grassy, 36x18 area w/ easy gravel driveway access, next to a small playground w/ sandbox, slide, two 'tree-house' platforms, and swingset. (Currently under renovation, please ask before using.).

Animas Valley View
Our family loved camping on Kammie's land. We had a truck camper and 2 tents. There was plenty of room for each. The signage and lights were very helpful. The porta potty was exactly as described, very clean and pleasant. It is situated just a few miles north of town; the market just a mile away has coffee and morning pastries. It was a very pleasant stay in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It is on the Durango Silverton Railway, but that just added to the charm!

Kammie’s Hipcamp was not only met our expectations but exceeded them! Electricity was also provided (an absolute necessity in the IPhone age!). Kammie welcomed us upon arrival and directed us right to the site. As a bonus we enjoyed several starry nights in the valley.

We spent one night at Kammie’s and it was lovely. We had water, electricity and a portable toilet. The site is pretty and very quiet. The hosts are very friendly but not invasive. Great place for tenting.
