Sugar Pine Camp &amp; Cabin

I had a great experience camping here! I used my hammock and that worked perfectly. Tara was super easy to communicate with and directions to the campsite were fairly easy. The stove there worked great with a pan, pot, some mugs, and cleaning supplies as well. There is a water spout making washing up very easy. I was the only camper there, and the area is very quiet making my stay very peaceful and relaxing

This camp is a dirt driveway with no flat spots and very rocky we couldn’t find a place to set up our tent. The platforms they provided are rotting away and did not seem safe to camp on. Seemed like a scam.

The camp stove was so slick. Big propane tank with a double burner. Porta potty was clean and well maintained. Gate was straightforward and felt very safe. The sunrise was awesome. Would definitely go back. The drive up the mountain to get to the property was memorable :)

Sorry, but this wasn’t a great place. Quiet and private, yes, but very uneven ground and rocky. I’m glad I’m not a tent camper. I can see how an effort had been mage in the past to make it nice, but all has not aged well.

I could tell this was a great site but we arrived at night. It was a little difficult being all alone at the campsite. Probably a great view during the day. Directions were also a little difficult to manage

I’ve stayed at quite a few hipcamps now, and this had me realize that not all hipcamps are created equal… it’s a fine site for the night if you have nowhere else to go and can car camp, but would recommend other established campgrounds in the area… they’re cheaper and have way better amenities…. I didn’t even stay the night here, i saw the site and went somewhere else. Glad i did too.

Mosquito Paradise

Overall this was an overpriced mosquito filled place to park your car or pitch your tent. Directions for getting to the campsite were clear, however once inside no campsites were clearly labeled, which led to confusion between us and other campers. Photos of the sites make it look like a grassy wildflower field, however in reality it’s rocky and covered in poison oak. The kitchen area is not much of a kitchen, although the drinking water in jugs was appreciated. Additionally the tent platforms are warped and need a few extra screws to secure them. I would try to find anywhere else to camp before here, but as a last option it does the job.

Tara's land was easy to find and a good spot for an overnight stay... Tent pads aren't too level, but we opted to sleep in back of SUV, since we arrived late ... also a nice quiet place to wake up in the morning. Thanks Tara.

Wonderful, quiet, authentic campsite with nicely placed basic amenities. Located in the hills and away from just about everything, giving you a quiet restful evening with a beautiful sweeping view of the stars. Gas stove for cooking and drinking and running water aplenty. Authentic mosquitos are also in the area, so bring along some repellant (candle or spray) or wear long pants and sleeves in advance.

It was a beautiful spot. The toilet needs to be serviced a little better. You could clear out some of the poison ivy in that area. Other than that you’re a great host. Thank you.

Unexpected issues

Our stay here was okay. Beware that google maps WILL take you the wrong direction up a bumpy dirt road. Make sure to closely follow the hosts written directions and not gps. We ended up essentially scaling the mountain in an suv that barely made it. The host attempted to be helpful but it was difficult to communicate. Once we got there the board for the tent was on a slant so we had to prop some wood under in attempt to level it out a bit. The sign says beware of poison oak which ended up being right where you set the tent up and pretty unavoidable. We threw some rocks on top of it for the meantime. We were lucky there was only one other person there but 2 of the campsites are very close together and one is directly in front of the porta potty. There was also nowhere to sit besides the trunk of a fallen tree and 2 little trunks (Pictured) As for positives, the service was great at the site, the gas stove was great and there were some dishes supplied, soap, and a sponge. The host provided drinking and dish water but the drinking water was “rain catchment” which had us a little worried. It felt safe as there is a gate with a lock to enter. There’s a sign labeling the entrance/ camps and another sign by the “kitchen”. The host seemed friendly it was just a little bit of a frustrating experience. Other than that we had no problems with animals/ noise. Overall I’d say if you’re looking for a more rugged experience this would be fine but just not what we expected.

We followed the directions and found the place - a nice little secluded patch in the woods. There’s plenty of space to set up a tent and our host even set out a table with propane, stove, water etc. we had a lovely stay. Portapoty is at the top of a small hill where you can park your car.

The campsite was clean and I loved having a platform to put the tent on. We had the site to ourselves which was a plus, and it was great having a camp stove and toilet available. The dinner was absolutely delicious and the veiw was beautiful. Both of Tara and Josh were kind and the dogs were very cute.

Starry nights and amazing sunrises

Tara was responsive and helpful. I arrived at night & went to sleep in my campervan right away. The road to get there was a bit scary at night, but in the daylight was no problem. There was water provided & a campstove. A little community kitchen area. Three platforms for tents. The very best part of this land were the breath taking starlit night and gorgeous sunrise. Tara had cute signs throughout the property, as well as stones making paths and campsites. The worst part was the poison oak - there was quite a bit of it - make sure you know what this looks like. You’ll need insect repellant if you want to spend time outside, too.

Great, easy, intimate camping spot

This was such a good find for an overnight near Willow Creek! They set out a Coleman camp stove, pots, soap, and water which was super nice! Two other cars came after us, but we were all able to find our own space and it wasn’t overly crowded. Just be aware you might not have the place by yourself, but we loved our stay. Thanks so much!

Mountain stargazing + great host

Great little spot tucked away in the mountains! Amazing views for stargazing - was able to see the Milky Way. Tara is also super cool and made my stay a wonderful experience. She provided a yoga session + meditation on top of the nearby lookout with a delicious veggie breakfast prepared right after. Highly recommended!

Excellent spot for an overnight stay while traveling to the PNW on motorcycle. Primitive, but all basic needs were met: Clean port-o-potty, stove and drinking water supplied as described in the listing. I would stay again.
