  • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

Campers have shared mixed experiences at this campsite. Many appreciate the beautiful surroundings, friendly hosts, and spacious sites that offer a peaceful getaway, especially close to Lake Tahoe and local attractions. However, some reviews highlight issues like noise from nearby trains, unsatisfactory bathroom facilities, and unexpected interactions with local wildlife or neighboring properties. Overall, the site can be a pleasant choice for those seeking a quick escape into nature, but it's important to be prepared for some of the site's quirks.

    Doesn't recommend

⭐ 1 STAR – PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING I’m sharing my experience so other families know exactly what they may be booking. Before we arrived, I tried several times to contact the host by phone and through the app, but I received no answer. When we arrived, we discovered that the camping area is in the backyard of the host’s house, inside a fenced area, with 3 campsites very close to each other. This was not what we understood from the listing or description. We came expecting a family camping experience with enough room for our tents and vehicles. Once we saw the actual setup, we realized it would not work for our family. We did not camp, did not stay overnight, and left the property. I tried to resolve the situation fairly and requested a refund, but the host refused. I personally felt very misled by this booking and honestly felt scammed by the experience. I do not recommend this place to anyone. It is basically a fenced backyard behind the host’s house with 3 campsites very close together. If I had clearly understood the actual setup before booking, I would never have booked it.

Our family had a wonderful time staying here! It was a nice arrangement and not too far from Emerald Pools. The kids enjoyed it, the hosts were great, and we really had a food time. Our site had good shade as well for the hot summer heat. The dogs are freely as well. Very sweet 🥰 this was a nice camping trip and we would do it again 💯🤗🏕 Thank you so much ♥️

    It was okay

Overall we had a great time, however, few things people maybe aware of, Alta lake is not accessible to the public, so if you were planning on enjoying lakes, think again. My kids and I were disappointed about it. On our way to the camp site, we took the wrong path and we ended up in the neighbor property, I made a U turn once I discovered my mistake and on the way out I ran into the property owner (rude Karin), she immediately asked if I seen the no trass signs I apologized and told her we were looking for the camp sites she replied rudely and said you find it. Make sure you plan to grab toilet paper and take your trash when you leave because no trash bin. Lastly, we spent 2 nights, at first day 2 dogs came to our campsite, German shepherd and Pit bull, both were too friendly and old, we were bothered first night because they came by our tent in the middle of the night and started barking at any noise which kind was very annoying, next day I showed the dogs that they were not allowed to be near the campsite therefore we did had great quiet night sleep. I just wanted to share my experience.
