We are also located near the Wolf Pen Gap ATV trails, and guests can ride directly to the trails from their RV site. Local rental companies are available for anyone not wanting to bring their own ATVs. There is plenty of overflow parking for trailers for those that do bring their own on the property as well.

We have several beautiful hiking trails and two breathtaking vistas at which to gaze at the picturesque mountains in the distance. “Meandering Trail” takes you to where the property borders the gigantic Ouachita National Forest. Keep going if you please. It’s 1.8 Million acres of wilderness made just for you! A true hunters paradise teeming with deer and other wildlife. The national forest is also accessible via Roger’s Pass and an easement. Bring your ATVs!If you like spectacular sunrises then this is the place for you. Just pray you have enough disk space on your camera! The Legendary Talimena Byway is just a few miles down the road; a 54 mile winding wonderland across the backs of the mighty Winding Stair and Ridge Mountains with dozens of pull-offs and vistas that are a feast for the senses. Plenty of Ouachita’s endless hiking trails can be accessed from the byway. Kayaking the incredible Kiamichi river can also be on your agenda. We are also located near the Wolf Pen Gap ATV trails, and guests can ride directly to the trails from their RV site. Local rental companies are available for anyone not wanting to bring their own ATVs. There is plenty of overflow parking for trailers for those that do bring their own on the property as well.

After years of searching, we finally found that one perfect place, our own slice of a mountain with spectacular views and access to so many of our favorite outdoor adventure activities.

Morning Light Mountain Lodge is our 5.7 acre dream come true on the side of Round Mountain in the Ouachita Mountains. We have several beautiful hiking trails and two breathtaking vistas at which to gaze at the picturesque mountains in the distance. “Meandering Trail” takes you to where the property borders the gigantic Ouachita National Forest. Keep going if you please. It’s 1.8 Million acres of wilderness made just for you! A true hunters paradise teeming with deer and other wildlife. The national forest is also accessible via Roger’s Pass and an easement. Bring your ATVs!If you like spectacular sunrises then this is the place for you. Just pray you have enough disk space on your camera! The Legendary Talimena Byway is just a few miles down the road; a 54 mile winding wonderland across the backs of the mighty Winding Stair and Ridge Mountains with dozens of pull-offs and vistas that are a feast for the senses. Plenty of Ouachita’s endless hiking trails can be accessed from the byway. Kayaking the incredible Kiamichi river can also be on your agenda. Check out paddlers websites and forums for details and ideal entry points. Anyone like fishing? Oklahoma’s premier Bass fishing lake, Cedar Lake is a short 20 minute drive. Just wait till you see this lake; the happy little lake you’d expect in a Bob Ross masterpiece. Morning Light Mountain Lodge is a beautiful and wild place with plenty to keep you busy enjoying God’s Creation. It has a remote feel but is easily accessible from Talihina, LeFlore, Wister, Poteau, and Fort Smith, AR. Come and visit this magical place. You’ll be glad you did!

We had an amazing stay here! The entire place was so peaceful and relaxing—exactly what we needed. The creek right behind our site was such a highlight; it was calm, beautiful, and our kids and dogs absolutely loved playing and exploring there.
We made a full day of it—explored the Ouachita forest in an SxS we rented from DLR Off-Road Rentals, then grabbed lunch at Big Fork Mall and treated ourselves to ice cream nachos after. It made for the perfect adventure-filled day.
Everything about this spot made it easy to unwind and enjoy time together as a family. We will definitely be back and will be recommending this place to all of our friends and family!

Weekend Trip to Eagle's Nest LODGE, OK
Probably the coolest thing about Eagles nest is the view. There is an open deck and a covered deck for all weather. The cabin has all of the amenities with the exception of Wi-fi, though the Cell reception is excellent. The keyword here is “rustic.” It is a log cabin on a gorgeous hillside overlooking Lake Sardis. we had a great stay and would definitely go back. The wildflowers were blooming, and the butterflies were flying.

This spot was tucked away from the main road and served very well for car camping. It was quiet and peaceful. The provided chairs were nice, we were able to sit outside to take in the nature before we departed in the morning. Bennie was also communicative and flexible. Would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Kiamichi Mounds
I loved my time spent on Drue’s property! Not only was he extremely helpful, but his property is very well cared for!
They also gave me the most delicious bright orange eggs!!! Anytime I noticed I forgot something or had a question, I got a message with a solution right away.
There is enough land that you can really be comfortable here and have a nice secluded peaceful time. Many oaks on the property and even oak firewood!! There was even a kindling pile ready to go when I arrived— there are a lot of small details like that.
It’s a real treat and a great weekend if you like fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, or just hanging out! Definitely recommend it 😇 !!

Jeana had great communication! She answered all my questions leading up to our reservation. She also gave me lots of great information about the campsite and what was available or what we would need to bring ourselves. Although we did not get to stay at her place in the end, which was entirely on our end, we do plan on doing so in the future. We were absolutely happy with Jeana, her communication, information provided, questions answered and her follow up.

We really enjoyed the view from the porch and the night sky! We did bring an ez-up, which gave us a place to hang out during the rain—the porch is obviously quite small. It was a short weekend, but it was the quiet, private place we were looking for!

We had a great time at Haw Creek Outdoor Adventures. If you want to unplug and enjoy the night sky this is the place! We tent camped on the back of the property and the view was amazing. The owners greeted us on arrival and are very sweet people. We highly recommend.

Loved staying at Buffalo Tree Ranch! The owner was super accommodating, even with my last minute reservation, and communication was great. It’s only about 40 minutes from the Ouchita NF. So if you’re planning on running some trails on the Oklahoma side but don’t want to worry about finding camp, this place is perfect for you. Very private and very little traffic noise after dark. I’m definitely going to stay here again.

My experience here was 1000/10!! If you love everything nature I highly recommend this campsite. The owner answered every single one of my questions, & in a timely manner. There was so much to explore close by & at the campsite. A big plus for my stay was having the Wolfpen ATV trails close by. If you have ATVs i highly highly recommend staying here. & even if you don’t you can always rent them. I have a deep love for nature, specifically trees & waterfalls. Here you get the best of both worlds. The swimming hole has a decent size waterfall, it was so breathtaking! Right by camp 5 there is a path that takes you to the creek it is so beautiful. The full hookups for the RV were very convenient & a big plus in my stay. Upon arrival the owner brought firewood to our site which was amazing. It was very easy pulling in and out of the site as well. If you do stay here to experience the ATV trails I highly recommend going to little Mo falls & off the trails there’s a string of breathtaking waterfalls you can swim in (it’s down the windy hill to the right on the way to little Mo falls) If you don’t have ATVs you can also drive a car to Little Mo falls. The Big fork mall/cafe is very close to the campsite. They helped us out with directions/ navigating the ATV trails & getting to Little Mo falls.

Weekend Trip to Kiamichi Mounds
This place is awesome! First the host was great. Answered any questions i had and was very quick to communicate. The location is beautiful and peaceful right on the banks of the river with easy access to the water w a gravel bar and rock outcroppings. You have plenty of privacy and seclusion but it is only 5 min to town so very convenient too. They had fishing poles to use and i caught a fish on my 2nd cast. The area was all mowed around camp and very clean. There was a canoe and kayaks to use, a bbq grill to cook on, a fire pit with a fire already setup and plenty of firewood provided. The camper is older but perfectly clean and comfortable. Plenty of space to set up tents too. Drue and his family obviously put a lot of effort into setting this up and making sure i had everything i could need. I’ll definitely be back.

We had an incredible time on our trip to Heaven's Gate. We are hikers- not riders- so we weren't sure if it would be a great fit for us but it really was.
The trails out here are gorgeous and the folks are all real welcoming and friendly. Bridgitte, our camp host, was more than accommodating and made the experience even more beautiful than it already was on its own. She makes breakfast on request and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, all delicious (we missed Sunday brunch but heard great things about it). She even brought us her personal microwave from her own home when the one in our cabin sparked and stopped working. Bridgitte is the kind of camp host that makes you want to leave your cabin a little extra clean when you leave.
This is a phenomenal place for all different kinds of people who crave getting out into nature. We loved every bit of the experience and cannot wait to go back; truly worth the drive no matter where you're coming from. Heaven's Gate is a great place for your dog, too- we brought ours and he was just elated the entire time. He loved it just about as much as we did. He will be returning with us in the summer!!

The Eagle Drive camping area was a great spot, not too busy at all (even on a beautiful spring weekend) and easy to access. Beautiful scenery and just steps from the lake!

we also stayed at Reasoner point. It could have been a very good campsite, unfortunately someone had smashed glass bottles everywhere, and had left about 2 trash bags full of beer cans. This is what made the spot undesirable, but drove to some other places on the drive and didn't run into the same problem.

This was my first time to Hochatown State Park and I loved it. I've been to the adjacent Beaver's Bend State Park which is also beautiful, but this park has a little less traffic and you feel a bit more isolated which I love. I suggest the Reasoner Point along Eagle Drive for a more secluded camping spot.
