200 acres of scenic farm paddocks with seasonal creek, and forested hills adjoining the Bournda National Park. See kangaroos, wallabies and wombats and if you are lucky an echidna or deer! Horses also live here and are separate from the main camping area.
Merimbula Camping is an ideal place to camp during Wanderer Festival 2024.
We accept only a small number of campers to ensure everyone has a few acres each and peace and quiet to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Sites are generally more secluded as go from 1 to 10.
Sites are walking distance to a composting toilet (check site details).

Our property is located on the far south coast of NSW in the town of Eden at the top of Nethercote Falls. Come and pitch your tent at any one of our several large, grassy sites along the beautiful Yowaka River. We have around 1km of river frontage right near the campsites, which has lots of swimming holes to enjoy. The property also has 3-4km of walking tracks on the property. There is plenty of wildlife all over the property and lots of native birds.We are a short walk from the beautiful Nethercote falls but please be aware that the walk to the falls can be challenging with some rock scrambling and climbing over logs.We are a 15 minute drive to both Eden and Pambula which both have stunning beaches, great cafes and shop access for all your camping needs. We have a pit toilet available and we are pet friendly but pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Campfires are permitted in the fire pit provided and firewood can be purchased at a small additional cost (see extras).Please note that reception is limited on the property- time to immerse yourself in nature and relax!

We intentionally only have a limited number of campsites on our large property, so that you can enjoy camping in a natural setting away from the crowd.
Our stunning property is comprised of open paddock areas surrounded by large areas of native forests, and we border national park.
Enjoy the forest trails here on the property, which take you on a tour to our peaceful back dam. Or explore further afield - our place links to both the Tathra-Kalaru bike track and the Bournda National Park, where you can access the Tathra Mountain Bike Trail Network, as well as the secluded coves along the Kangarutha Walking Track.
Our property was home to the former and well-loved businesses 'Kangarutha Nursery', and 'On the Perch Bird Park'. We have been busy re-imagining these spaces.
We have drinking water, flushing accessible toilets and one hot shower a short walk from the campsites.
Our property is dog friendly for well behaved dogs that don't chase wildlife or the horses on our property. No hunting dogs.

The small township of Wolumla is within walking distance and consists of a great pub and a general store. A short drive further you'll find Candelo, which has its own pub and general store as well as a showground and the country markets held the first Sunday of each month.
Merimbula is 10 mins away with great cafes and shops and beautiful beaches.

in dry weather you can get here in 2WD towing a small camper trailer. There is a steep hairpin bend so I do not recommend caravans with 2WD vehicles (4WD vehicle and caravan could handle this). Bunga Summit

Beautiful Coastal farmland near to Mimosa Rocks National Parks. Easy to access. Close to stunning townships of Bermagui just 15mins north and Tathra 30mins south. Observe an abundance of wildlife - spot an eagle, kangaroo, wallaby, possum, goanna, wombat or whale! Surf or swim any of the amazing beaches or lagoons -Bunga, Hidden Valley, Arraganuu, Bithry, Cuttagee, Camel Rock, Horseshoe Bay or Blue Pool. Walk the dog at Beares beach in Bermagui or Cuttagee beach, 10mins drive north. This is an incredible coastline to explore. Enjoy local fresh produce from Bermagui farmers market in summer on Thursday afternoons; Saturday market at Honorbread courtyard; fresh seafood either catch yourself or purchase from Bermagui Fishermans Wharf.
Please note there are 5 beehives approximately 20metres to the east of the shed. This is not a camping area. Please keep to the western side of the shed for camping. Beware, bees do not like dogs and will sting them if the dogs go up close to the hives.
There is a little shed on this patch of land and campers have access to an undercover area off the side of the shed plus half of the inside area of the shed not being used for storage. There is a rainwater tank and a compost toilet at the back of the shed.
To locate when heading south on Tathra -Bermagui Rd , Turn left into Hergenhans Rd which is approx 14km south of Bermagui, then left into Wrens Rd (Goalen N Rd on google maps) , follow Wrens Rd about 800m and you'll see a gateway on your right with Hipcamp sign (Bunga Summit). It is opposite gateway on left with Lot 3 sign. The next gate is padlocked where the shed and beehives are.
Please note the 1st gate on the right on Wrens Rd with the hipcamp sign and No.2 written on post is for Bunga Surf Shack which is on a separate property.
To access Bunga Beach, continue along Wrens Rd through neighbouring properties. Please note this road is in poor condition with deep ruts and whilst many 2wd cars do make it down to the beach, I would recommend a 4wd or a car with good clearance. This is National Park so you can't have dogs here.
To access Back Bunga Beach continue along Hergenhans Rd and left onto O'sheas Rd which is a much smoother road, taking you through neighbouring properties and ending at Mimosa Rocks National Park.
For dog walking beaches head to Cuttagee just 10mins north towards Bermagui, or Beares Beach in Bermagui.
For injured wildlife or any wombats with mange around the campsite please phone my neighbour Sara as she volunteers for Wildlife Rescue South Coast.

Kiah Wilderness Camp

Full privacy with only one group per secluded site. Spacious level grassy campsites on the Towamba River, a pristine estuary that runs into Twofold Bay. 10 minutes on bitumen south of Eden and close to many of the Sapphire Coast's stunning coastline, National Parks and attractions.
We are not and never will be a 'caravan park' - your group will have exclusive use of the campsite. Each are far from each other, both are right near to - or very close to - the river. Our guests love the tranquility and not having to share!
Fish the river for flathead or bream and enjoy it for dinner by the campfire. Bring your kayak or SUP or just enjoy a swim in the clear sandy-bottom river.
Once you have booked let us know if you need more specific directions so you can find us easily.
Well behaved (spoilt) dogs okay but please no hunting type dogs. Both sites have access to separate taps for fresh drinking water. Site #2 has access to our composting toilet. You'll need to bring your own chemical toilet for Site #1 (near) Boatramp site.
Firewood can be collected from the property or supplied at a small fee (you can book this when you book your site). Feel free to collect your own kindling - plenty around). Good mobile reception on the Telstra network.
PLEASE NOTE: the property is currently listed for sale. We are happy to take forward bookings with this understanding and will contact all booked parties well in advance if we sell. The market is very slow so we do not expect a fast sale and will ask for a long settlement so please still book :)

Riverview is just a five-minute drive from the famous Bega Cheese Factory located in Bega, NSW. Our 33-acre property has 360-degree views of mountains, rolling farmland, and countryside and it overlooks the beautiful Bega River.
Tathra is just 15 minutes drive away, with Merimbula around 25 minutes, Bermagui 45 minutes, and Eden 35 minutes. All of these towns have beautiful beaches, fishing, boating, whale-watching tours, and much more.
Pack a picnic and walk to the river just down the hill from your camp site. The Bega river is clean fresh water and is well worth a visit on a hot day to cool off. Your hosts can show you a secluded area of the river that you can access easily. The whole area has an array of beautiful spots to explore both on the property and along the riverside. Jackie is always willing to give fresh produce from her veggie garden during your stay just to make you feel welcome. There are horses you can pat and a few sheep that are very friendly and love to be given bread.
The historic Bega Cheese Factory and Heritage Center is just a couple of minutes away. The main shopping center and mall in town is just a five-minute drive.

Our little farm is part of the original Dairy farm of the area and we are currently renovating and revegetating the property. We have two spring fed creeks on the property with a swimming hole, we are surrounded by National Parks, pristine beaches and the beautiful Nethercote Falls is only 5 minutes up the road. Close to two sweet coastal towns, Eden 7minutes and Pambula 15minutes drive.
Lots of bird and insect life along with our little herd of sheep and geese.
We are currently developing permaculture systems for our home and garden and part of the system is we have a composting toilet for campers!

Overview
Merimbula lies at the heart of the Sapphire Coast, so-named for the sparkling blue waters that form the spectacular backdrop to this oyster-farming hub where the Merimbula Lake meets the sea. Activities revolve around the water, including fishing, beach hopping, coastal bushwalking, oyster sampling, and whale-watching during the winter months. Campers have campgrounds and holiday parks to choose from in Merimbula itself, with plenty more options in nearby towns and national parks.
When to go
The best time to hit the beaches of the Merimbula region is between the warmer months of October and April, though crisp winter days are also ideal for bushwalks and cosying up beside a campfire in the evenings. Visit in March to gorge on local produce at the Merimbula Eat Festival, or in late October or early November to catch the Eden Whale Festival in Eden.
Know before you go
- Merimbula is just under a six hours’ drive south of Sydney, and about three hours southeast of Canberra, with bus services available. Merimbula also has a small airport with flights from Sydney.
- Oysters are available year-round on the NSW south coast. Sydney Rock oysters are usually at their peak during the warmer months, Pacific oysters can be enjoyed throughout the year, and Angasi oysters are best in winter.
- Checking up-to-date rules before starting a campfire is particularly important on the NSW south coast.
