Located in Boyd County, Ky (less than two miles from US 23), our 50 acres are on a one-lane, dead end road which makes for a peaceful, quiet night’s sleep under the stars and amongst the trees.
Our sites are completely primitive (no running water, no electricity, no sewer) hike-in or 4WD accessible only, in several locations on the hills behind our residence. Potable water (2.6 gallons in a jug with spout) and portable toilet in privacy tent, or shelter, provided. *Permanent privacy shelter on two out of three sites*
All sites are ideal for tent campers, overlanding-style rigs, or possibly a small, off- road trailer/camper, with fire ring and firewood provided at each site. You will have access to all trails (for hiking only) and shared access to the fishing pond (Catch and Release only at this time). There are plenty of trees for shade, hammocks, etc. There is also an abundance of wildlife: Birds, deer, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, bobcats, coyotes, and even an occasional black bear.
Large firepit at pond for socializing, if desired (Quiet time from 10pm to 8am as a courtesy to other campers).
We are pet friendly as well as off-leash friendly (on leash on trails or pond area if not friendly). *We do have two off-leash dogs on our property as well*

From our parking area, our private campsite is a short walk (3-4 minutes) by way of a well maintained footpath which leads you alongside a farm pasture, to a wooded trail that empties on to a level forest understory ideal for your hammock or tent. Our campsite is equipped with the necessities: a firepit with a removable grill, a table, your own private outhouse, and unlimited sights and sounds of nature.
Trails leading from the campsite will usher you short distances to one of our best stargazing hilltops, to the shallow creek which runs alongside the campsite, through shaded forests and ridgetop views. Our pond, a short 7 minute hike, offers fishing, swimming or simply relaxing on the dock. For longer hikes, all trails connect to our larger network of maintained trails winding over hill and dale, through shaded forests and open (mowed) pasture trails offering the hiker farm-life views across our 80 acres.

Once known as Skyedanser Farms, horse ranch turned campsite. Five acres of land located “on the hill.” For several generations hay, gardens, and livestock have been raised on this land.
Our campsite is primitive & hosts a picnic table, fire pit, and a grill.
Our site is located to the right of our gravel driveway at the end of the field.
You'll see a sign for the campsite, walk approx 600ft to enter the site.
You must camp at our campsite. There are many other landowners surrounding our property. We are not responsible if you camp on someone else's land.

There are a variety of trees to see and plant life. We have deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, foxes, coyotes .... Many species of birds also. Whippoorwills usually begin singing late March. Screech owls, Barred owls, Great horned owl. Come and enjoy your stay with us at Long Hollow Campground and wildlife sanctuary.

Higher Ground Camping is located on top of a mountainous ridge in southern Ohio overlooking 7 acres of woods in Vinton, OH. It is in a remote location but also near an access road. The sites are shaded by 30-40 ft trees in a serene and picturesque setting.
There are many lakes nearby for fishing such as Lake Alma, Lake Rupert, Lake Snowden and Tycoon Lake. Old Man’s Cave in Hocking Hills is under an hour drive and other local attractions.
Primitive sites with potable water and portable toilets provided. Excellent camping location for deer hunters, many public hunting grounds nearby.

4 nights at Walnut Falls Escape
Highly recommend! This cabin is perfect. Not only is it beautiful, but it is clean and fully stocked with anything you might need. The wood burning stove keeps it incredibly warm and cozy in the winter. The property surrounding the cabin is beyond beautiful! There are hiking trails and a stream that can be heard from the cabin's porch. The site is very private and quiet. I also can't say enough good things about the host Craig! Incredibly nice, quick to respond, and willing to whatever to make your trip perfect. I can't wait to go back!!!

Weekend Trip to Walnut Falls Escape
Fantastic! Despite some of the drawbacks others have noted, my now fiance and I had a great time! I booked this cabin because of the incredible privacy, and mainly to propose in Hocking Hills! (She said yes 😎)
Craig was a very nice host and made sure the cabin was well stocked. Despite no running water it had everything you could think to need, and overall you can tell the cabin was built with safety/comfort in mind.
We will definitely be staying here again! Thanks Craig!

What a cool little place. Stanley and his family have something going for them. The cabin as your night time ambiance is great for any dark enthusiast. 4 German Shepherds for those lovers of the breed. Having the turkey as your white noice was a great experience. So many other cool city escapes scattered across their property (even pigs). Take out what you take in as always!

This site is perfect! Very well kept and private. Definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to drive to site if you don’t plan on hiking to. I had no problems with my Bronco Sport with A/T tires. Owners are very pleasant and accommodating. Will definitely be coming back to this site.

This place is a private spot on about 80 acres. There is a wonderful path through the woods to the top of a hill for stargazing at night. The catch and release pond is across the street on their property and just the perfect size. There are multiple trails throughout the property. Lots of wildlife and beautiful nature to immerse yourself in. The hostess is very friendly and accommodating. Oh, I would highly recommend getting the lights to surround your tent area to make it easy to find your way back if you night hike. This is the perfect place to unplug!

Roger was super nice and the trails he's got on the property are great! Loads of wildlife all over the place. Super knowledgeable about the local birds and just as a storm was rolling in, he rolled down the hill to come check on us.

Weekend Trip to Harvest and Hive Farms
Had a great stay at Stanley's "Mountain Trailer with Views" campsite! We needed a place to stay for a work weekend, and every nearby place was booked up, but at Stanley's we felt we had an even better time than our co-workers who'd gotten a hotel room. The views were beautiful and it was certainly a step up from tent camping! Maybe a little dusty, but the trailer was sanitary with a working stove, comfy beds, and hot water, so we didn't mind. Great potential and a fun weekend getaway - wish we'd had the chance to check out the trails on the property, but we'll be back next time!
