2.Dogs A- Permitted on Leash: We understand that many campers enjoy bringing their furry babies along for the adventure. Dogs are welcome at our campground, but they must be on a leash or a run. The fields have some groundhog holes, and we would be devastated if your dog was running and broke a leg if a leg slipped in a hole. We just want them safe.
B- Awww poop! Alot of people use the camping area as a barefoot area so please clean up their poop.
3. Quiet time after 10PM: This just means no screaming. Play your guitar and sing until the sun rises if that makes you happy.
4. Alcohol: We would prefer you skip the drinks and just get high, but if your soul needs a drink please drink responsibly. (Don't be that guy)
5. Yurt comes down the end of September for rental.

Hello Campers! Our property is 16.5 acres, two of which are along the Tygart Valley River and the rest are within forest canopy on the mountainside. We are in the low foothills of the Appalachia. We have 4 riverfront sites and we are continually changing our space around This year we will be adding a tiny house on site 4 and a sweatlodge with soaking pool on Site 1 additional camping spots along the property near outhouse
Each site is equipped with a steel fire pit/grill and a picnic table. We have been busy building hiking trails and more primitive campsites on the 14.5 acres on the hillside across the road from the riverfront for all to enjoy.
Step outside your tent and enjoy natures bounty —outdoor activities including fishing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching are all at your fingertips and much more. There are 300+ acres of public land less than one mile away with miles of ATV and hiking trails and stocked ponds. If you're a fan of waterfalls just 4 miles down river is Arden Falls, one of our areas best kept secrets. The Tygart Valley River is one of the top kayaking rivers in the country. Audra State Park is less than 20 minutes away with lush forest trails with caves to explore. Well known hiking trails such as Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, and the Dolly Sods are all within an hour drive. Go to Nelson Rocks for the ultimate climbing experience on the Via Ferrata.

This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Cathedral State Park (WV) a virgin Hemlock forest with 400 year old trees about 45 minutes away. Deep Creek Lake (MD) is 40 minutes away and offers motor boat rentals, Golf, Skiing and swimming. There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore within 40 minutes of our farm. The best white water rafting on the east coast is 20-40 minutes away.Farm products are available for purchase on-site. Campers can choose to to have a farm to table meal cooked for them as an extra at checkout. We prepare most of our food from scratch using local produce, meat and bulk organic dry goods. We occasionally make yogurts, noodles, simple cheeses, and fermented foods.We welcome campers of all kinds!

This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den.
There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations :
Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. This property also borders Laurel Ridge State Park.
There is a Dollar General and a gas station about 15 minutes away for convenience needs.

Cathedral State Park (WV) a virgin Hemlock forest with 400 year old trees about 45 minutes away. Deep Creek Lake (MD) is 40 minutes away and offers motor boat rentals, Golf, Skiing and swimming. There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore within 40 minutes of our farm. The best white water rafting on the east coast is 20-40 minutes away.Farm products are available for purchase on-site. Campers can choose to to have a farm to table meal cooked for them as an extra at checkout. We prepare most of our food from scratch using local produce, meat and bulk organic dry goods. We occasionally make yogurts, noodles, simple cheeses, and fermented foods.We welcome campers of all kinds!

This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den.
There is a lot to do near by. Some note worthy locations :
Cranberry Glade Lake (good for kayaking or fishing), Ohiopyle, 7 Springs, Fallingwater, Living Treasures, Caddie Shak, and Hidden Valley are all about 25 minutes away. This property also borders Laurel Ridge State Park.
There is a Dollar General and a gas station about 15 minutes away for convenience needs.

We had a great time on Jim’s property. We set out to do a winter campout using our hot stove tent but the weather had other plans! We still used the stove at night, but the weather during the day was unseasonably warm and gorgeous. The wooden deck was a great spot to set up our camp kitchen and we enjoyed some smash burgers under the stars.
The site felt very private and was a great place to chill after spending the day hiking in Ohiopyle (only about 25 minutes away). Would highly recommend this site. Thanks, Jim!

It's a great spot for car camping! It was very scenic and the bathroom/shower area was hand built with amazing craftsmanship. The property owner was super friendly as well, it was overall a very comfortable and peaceful stay. I would highly recommend this spot!

Nice and quiet and secluded. Firewood was there. It was a cold night and was able to setup my tent no problem and park onsite. Directions to site were accurate. Note there is no phone service there, which was not an issue. Had the best night of sleep Ive had in years.

this place is absolutely stunning! it’s very remote but i felt super safe here! the showers and bathroom are wonderful and there’s really good hot water! this is the prefect get away and i can’t recommend it enough! the hosts are wonderful and super helpful!!! my only note is that the roads are a little gravelly on the way so drive safely!!

Had a wonderful experience at Laurel Highlands! Maggie is a super friendly and attentive host, and the space was perfect for our needs. It’s not as tucked away as some other campsites we’ve been to, but that did not dampen the experience at all. It’s a bit elevated from the surrounding area and it was really cool to see the fog roll into the lower elevations at night. Some of the space is on a slight incline but it did not affect our ability to find a good spot for our tents or placement of our cots. I will definitely be planning to return again!

Tommy's place is gorgeous land! There are nice fields and woods. It felt entirely safe for women to camp alone. It was easy to find using the instructions and we didn't need 4wd. Would definitely go back!
Tommy is delightful and didn't make fun of me when I said I saw a big bear. It was really a cow in the neighbor's pasture, way off in the distance.

We enjoyed Site #4. On end, no one drove by us. On bank of rive.r. little path through over growth to the river. Campsites side by side. Luckily only one quiet person next door to us for one of the two nights.
Def offf main road, 3 miles. About 15 minutes to town of Phillippi, WV.
Owner came first night with wood. Get what ya need then...like 4 big bundles for two nights. We ran out with just two. Enjoyed the moonrise and stars!!!!

The campsite was a little tricky to drive back to. Definitely a job for an SUV. That being said, once we pulled up it was nothing but fall leaves, green ferns and dense trees all the way around. Fire wood and a fire pit as promised. Perfect spot for our tent, camp chairs and the all important camp potty. We took our pup and had no issues whatsoever. It is a beautiful site. On Saturday we made our way to Ohiopyle for some hiking. We had a great time. I would definitely recommend this HipCamp.

We absolutely loved this spot. Very secluded, which was exactly what we needed for a reset weekend. Only one other plot we are aware of this property, and it wasn’t in use (a small cabin on the other side of a tree line).
Nestled in the Appalachian foothills, the lush greenery and vibrant fall colors made this plot especially perfect.
We loved the meadow, and having such a large, secluded space to ourselves for the weekend. We will be back!

This was perfect for what I was needing. Nothing fancy, a field on the edge of the woods with a firepit. It felt very private, but wasn't far at all from the road. I parked near my site so I didn't have to haul anything to my site. Great experience!

Wonderful Space removed from the road. Public Winery right across the street. Wildlife from wild turkey to Red tailed hawks were all around us. Hammock camping worked out well, but 4-6 Person tents also fit the deck quite well. I will be back!
