Homesteaders came here in 1890, prior to that there was no human habitation. A perfect base camp to explore the many varied facets of the West side of the Olympic Peninsula. The campsites are on acreage of a very small off-grid farm. Relax and forget the stress.
There are 6 tent sites and 2 small RV sites. Toilets are available, as well as trash bins, potable water, and picnic tables. We do not allow pets.

The campsite was tidy and exactly what we imagined. Plenty of room
between us and our neighbors, and we barely knew that they were there. The outhouse is basic but clean and charming.
Imagine the friendliness of staying at a distant cousin's organic farm, with the facilities of a top-notch campsite. Only regret was that we were crashing there quickly, and weren't able to stay longer and relax on-site. *We are a small, private campground. As such, our site limits are set to 2 ppl, 1 vehicle, 1 tent. You can select to add up to 2 more ppl on select sites, for an additional charge. Our sites are simply not large enough to be considered group sites. For your comfort, we recommended that you book multiple sites if you have a larger party. As always, we can help you choose the best site for your party, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

I continue to try to be a good steward to this little piece of land with very big trees. One side faces my studio with drive through access to a bunkhouse and hookups and the other is tent camping with room to explore. With a dog yard available you will be able to relax and enjoy.

The campground was in a beautiful corner of the earth and owned by a kind, friendly couple. The campsite felt private and had it all; a bench, water, a fire pit and a tent platform. We enjoyed cooking in the communal kitchen with a wood stove. I highly recommend!

We stayed at Wandering Joy for 4 nights, and I am so glad we did! Erin was so nice, came and chatted with us and shared information about the land. The campground was easy to find, and very close to Lake Crescent. The campsites are cozy and just the right size for 2 people. The porta potties were spotless, and the campground was quiet and peaceful. We saw little critters and stargazed, followed a trail in camp through an old growth forest, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Erin!

It’s absolutely perfect. The in a beautiful area, clean campgrounds, and the cleanest porta potty’s I’ve ever used ! It’s about 10 mins from the absolutely amazing and beautiful Crescent Lake and about 30 mins from town if you need any last minute supplies, but there is also a General store directly next to the campground. The sites are perfect, wonderful area for your tent(s) and equipped with a picnic table and fire pit!! I absolutely cannot wait to stay here again.

Sites 0 and 1 are great! Site 0 has a covered wood tent platform. Site 1 is the largest site, with room for 2 tents.
The wood shaving tent pads are terrific. The porta potties are immaculate. There is a small market just past the entry to Wandering Joy from 101. We enjoyed the proximity to Lake Crecent and swam there every afternoon
The only downsides to Wandering Joy are:
No potable water and
noise from nearby hwy 101.

We enjoyed our campsite and the communal spaces provided by the host. Our nights were quiet, but we still enjoyed the hoot of an occasional owl. A mist-covered mountain is a great view with a morning coffee. The property location is perfect for enjoying nearby hiking trails.

We had a fantastic stay at site 6 and would love to come back! Erin was so welcoming and friendly and puts sooo much love and care into the campsites and forest. The porta potties were also the cleanest I've every used! The sites all have beautiful thick foliage around them so feel private. I was a tiny bit concerned that the sites looked close to the main road on the map but the sites are set back enough and really feel in the woods that we didn't notice traffic noise at all. We loved our stay so much and highly recommend Wandering Joy!

We loved staying here it was so much fun! The campsite was clean and didn’t feel too close to the other lots which was nice. The cleanest porta potties I have ever seen and a couple really cool trails we could access from the site and the lake was only a 5-20 minute drive away depending on what end of it you wanted to go to. Already planning our next trip back!

Found one of my new fav camping spots! Will def be making my way back here at least once every camping season. I was lucky to bump into Erin and chat about the campgrounds and she shared about how intentional they are with the sites and the impact they’re making in the area. She also left me with the cutest souvenir! I felt well informed so that I was prepared for my trip and have never felt so safe while solo camping. Highly recommend!
