We’ve had this property in my family for over 30 years and it is been a potato farm, a cattle ranch, and a Lumber-mill site. We built our cabin from scratch from 47 tamarack large trees on our property.
This is a very rustic and remote log cabin situated on 120 acres that is adjacent to DNR state land. It is primarily forested and teaming with wildlife.
The cabin
is about 4000 feet in elevation on Lemonasky Mountain just 1 mile below and an historical fire look-out. It is perched on top of a beautiful large meadow with a 50 mile view that has wonderful sunrises and sunsets.

The lands include a number of geographic features including the Kettle River, upper reach of the Columbia River and the Selkirk mountain range, which is considered to be at the foothills of the Rockies.
Residents (including several Native American tribes) and visitors enjoy camping, nearly 500 miles of hiking trails, mountain biking, lakes, rivers and some too legit to quit wildlife including grizzly bears, cougars, bald eagles and the last remaining herd of caribou in the US. That was almost starting to sound like an indie music festival lineup! Did we mention it’s an inspiring place? So much so that close to a million smackeroos was recently rewarded for continued restoration projects.

This cabin was so cozy. We stayed for a couple nights over Christmas and it was lovely. The cabin is very private with amazing views of the meadow and mountains. We absolutely utilized the kitchen, the available board games , and the surrounding landscape for snowshoeing. The central wood burning stove (plus the little portable heater we brought) kept the cabin a cozy temperature. We would for sure stay here again. Our traveling cat also had a lovely time!

3 nights at Toby Mill Cabin
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this cabin . It was littlery everything i was looking for , for our adventure together. Our two dogs loved it to . There was a recent snow so it was like a winter wonderland , time went so slow on top of the mountain which made it even better. They have all of the basic camping kitchen supplies multiple beds, plenty of firewood and acres to explore. When we had a question joy was really quick with responding and kind. Overall we would defenatly come back to stay again in the winter.

My bf and I celebrated our anniversary this November at Joy's cabin. At first I considered moving our trip to the spring, but I *so loved* being in the wind and rain in a cozy cabin indoors. The remote location is absolutely magical. I would definitely try to get to the cabin before dark; barring that, make sure to have multiple offline versions of the directions: 1) Google Maps directions and map screenshots to the destination, and 2) Joy's written directions. She was very proactive and communicative via satellite phone when we were lost at night. Thanks again Joy for trusting us with your family's private home.

We had a great time at the cabin. The sunrise and sunsets were amazing from the view off of the porch. We had the wood stove going and made the cabin nice and cozy. We will definitely be wanting to get back up there.

Really lovely cabin! Cozy, comfortable, and super easy to settle into with everything you need on hand. Perfect spot to relax and recharge.
Putting water through the filter worked out perfectly, the stove was nice and cozy, and even the cows made for some entertaining "wildlife" viewing!

What a delightful stay we had at the Meadow Cabin. Our 4 night, 5 day stay was exactly what we needed. The fact that there is no wifi or cell service was a total blessing! The cabin is a great place to disconnect from the noise and I was able to relax deeply and reconnect with myself and my wife. I smiled more. Slept more. Rested more. Took gentle, ambling walks. I actually read for almost a whole day and ended up finishing an amazing 900+ page book—something I haven't done in years.
Our dogs loved it! Watching the cows was like a meditation. The colors and the weather shifted and changed throughout our stay, with a downpour with hail clearing much of the smoke from a southerly fire. So peaceful.
The peace and quiet at the Meadow Cabin seems a rarity these days. We will definitely be back. It is an inspiring stay for sure.

My sister and I absolutely loved it here! My dog as well. We spent most of the time on the porch. Was great to drink wine with a relaxing beautiful view. I expected it to be cold inside in the morning, but the cabin kept in the heat without needing to start a fire. My family grew up in a place like this, so it brought back so many great memories. This is a place I’ll come back to.

Fantastic special place full of history and family love. The fact that Joy trusts all of us to rent this place demonstrates her understanding of how special what she built is to everyone. The guest book entries made me cry several times and the views off the porch were memorable to say the least. I got to see a baby black bear standing on his back legs surveying the meadow at sunrise (before I hollered at my dog and scared everyone away lol).
The shower and bathtub under the stars or at sunrise are the chef’s kiss on top of everything else. Well appointed amenities, no real bugs or mice entry points to the cabin, everything you need for a rustic cabin adventure. But again this is their family’s legacy and you’re trusted to care for it with reverence so we can all go back please!
My dog Tony was in heaven all weekend enjoying his freedom and rolling in the dust to cool off - I swear he learned that watching the cows! It was a 92-96* weather weekend and while it did get very hot in the direct sun, the cabin’s porch had a constant cool breeze and I didn’t find the interior of the cabin unbearable. I hope to come back in every season!

The view is stunning and the cabin itself is rustic and charming; it has everything you need to enjoy a weekend getaway. We packed too much not knowing exactly what to expect. When we return, we only need to pack clothes and food. We hopefully can return soon! We enjoyed walking the property with our 6yo and the dogs loved the freedom of being being off-leash. Our 6yo loved the outdoor bathtub. The water wasn't working during our visit, but we were able to use the hose to fill it. We didn't see a single soul, with the exception of the quick visit from the owner to make sure we were all set. Joy's communication was great, she answered all questions we had before arriving. The mosquitos were out in full force during our trip, make sure to bring bug spray. The provided bug zapper was extremely helpful!
We absolutely loved the solitude and beautiful view and hope to return again this year. Thanks for sharing your lovely cabin!

We had a great weekend spent at the cabin. The directions were very easy to follow, the kitchen was well appointed, and the views are unforgettable. Make a packing list and don't forget extra water, insect repellent, and a great book. We didn't have cell service, which we consider a plus.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Getting there was a breeze thanks to Joys directions. When we got there the cabin was generously stocked with firewood. The views were fabulous. Electricity, propane stove, full refrigerator, comfy bed, made this glamping. Doorless outhouse (don’t worry, there’s no one to see you doing your thing) and heating our water for cleaning up made it rustic. The best thing about this spot was all the space! Our dog got to run, sniff, splash in the snow-melt without us worrying about strangers surprising us.

Weekend Trip to Toby Mill Cabin
This was our 3rd time at this cabin and we had over 3ft of snow and it was amazing. Roads were plowed all the way to the cabin and the host cleared a spot for our car on their property. To get to the cabin we had to use snow shoes. The host is very responsive and friendly. It continues to be my fav hipcamp spot and I can’t wait to go back!! Thanks Joy <3
