I had been searching for over 2 years for a property where I could make a difference in the environment and live in the wilderness.
I was looking for water on a large tract of land that was remote.
In 2017 I found the perfect property and to my dismay it had sold 2 days before I saw the listing.
I was shocked because this was the perfect property.
In my 2 years of searching I knew exactly what I wanted and this was the property.
It had a private lake with fish.
A solar cabin with a flush toilet and hot shower.
The cabins 8 foot windows faced West for magical sunsets and view of the storms that roll in from the coast.
It was beautifully treed with just the right amount of open meadow and forest with Hemlock, Ponderosa pine, and Larch.
How could this property be sold?
I tried to let it go but thought about it for the next year.
After a year and a half had passed and my search continued I came across an advertisement for this magical property, it was up for sale again.
I called the real estate agent immediately and found that an offer had been made but the buyers could not commit for 5 more months.
I made an offer that day not really knowing how I was going to pull off the money.
I knew this property was meant for me.
I wrote the owner a letter explaining that I was a land steward and that this land would never be developed.
I would be putting it in a land trust where no developers could put up condos.
The owner happened to be a environmentally focused human
and he ended up selling to me.
Come to find out when I had first saw the property sold a year and a half before, that transaction had fallen through.
The owner had just taken it off the market for the winter.

Staying at Nirvana Gardens feels like such a gift. Matt has created a peaceful, thoughtfully designed place that invites you to slow down and simply be. The cabin is incredibly comfortable and generously stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the gas stove and solar power system were both simple to use. During the long, sunny summer days, we never came close to running low on power.
We spent hours on the deck birdwatching, cooling off with swims in the lake, paddling in the on-site kayak, and watching water birds and their chicks, deer (including two fawns), dragonflies, damselflies, bees, the resident yellow-pine chipmunk, and more. We left feeling immersed and deeply rested. Our old dog was in heaven.
We stayed only four nights; next time we'll stay for at least a week. It's by far one of the best Hipcamps we've ever stayed at, and we'd love to experience it in every season.
Helpful notes for future Hipcampers: the only bathroom is accessed through the main-floor bedroom – worked great for us, but good to know if coming with friends. Also, bring your own sheets and towels as requested, but the beds may already be made when you arrive (ours were). We simply swapped in our own bedding during our stay.

Went on our first camping venture (11yr old and I). Even my kiddo remarked on the beautiful scenery. The cabin was cozy and had a power outlet. We were able to experience our paddleboards for the first time with the water so close. Keep in mind that there is a steep stairway to the dock, but we managed several trips up and down it. You will hear passing traffic with the close road, but we barely noticed with all the fun we had and the scenic greatness!
No one occupied the other cabin so we had a lot of space to ourselves. There was a most lovely gal who lived on-site, though. I can't say enough about how wonderful and helpful she was!
Oh, and we saw animals and my son was happy to get photos of a stag walking by.
Already considering a return visit.

Moose, deer, butterflies, and so many birds! Rugged views that go on and on - sometimes above the clouds. Comfortable beds, a full kitchen, an outhouse connected to nature and an adventurous bathing set up. Joy’s cabin brought days of peace and a needed reset to my family. Just rustic enough to truly feel like “real” camping - still civilized enough that those who need security and comfort will enjoy. I hope to bring my family back. June is an epic time to go with all the greenery and flowers on the mountain.

This spot is truly paradise! We felt so held by the land and the lake during our time here. Matthew is a joy of a human being and clearly cares so much about this special part of the world.
Logistically, on summer days, you have no worries about solar power. We never even got close to being worried about energy during the time that we were there. The beds are so comfy, there is every amenity you could ever expect to have while camping/clamping, and swimming in the lake every day feels like some sort of baptism.
My kid wants to make this or go to vacation spot year-round!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Daisy Station Cabin! The location is stunning, but the hospitality really made it special. The host was fantastic, and we loved meeting Gretta, who lives on the property. She was so welcoming and made us feel right at home the second we got there.
The best part of the property is definitely the beach. It genuinely feels like you have the whole place to yourself for a quiet, private retreat. We visited in late May when the water level was a little low, which just meant we got to take a short, scenic walk down to the water. They told us that by the 4th of July, the water level rises, so you won't even need to do the short hike!
We were also really impressed with everything that was provided. The property comes with sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, outdoor chairs, and even a kayak to take out on the water. It made packing so much easier for us. If you’re looking for a relaxing escape near Colville National Forest where you can just unwind in nature and let your dog explore, this is the perfect spot. We can't recommend it enough and will definitely be back!

This cabin was so cozy. We stayed for a couple nights over Christmas and it was lovely. The cabin is very private with amazing views of the meadow and mountains. We absolutely utilized the kitchen, the available board games , and the surrounding landscape for snowshoeing. The central wood burning stove (plus the little portable heater we brought) kept the cabin a cozy temperature. We would for sure stay here again. Our traveling cat also had a lovely time!

3 nights at Toby Mill Cabin
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at this cabin . It was littlery everything i was looking for , for our adventure together. Our two dogs loved it to . There was a recent snow so it was like a winter wonderland , time went so slow on top of the mountain which made it even better. They have all of the basic camping kitchen supplies multiple beds, plenty of firewood and acres to explore. When we had a question joy was really quick with responding and kind. Overall we would defenatly come back to stay again in the winter.

My bf and I celebrated our anniversary this November at Joy's cabin. At first I considered moving our trip to the spring, but I *so loved* being in the wind and rain in a cozy cabin indoors. The remote location is absolutely magical. I would definitely try to get to the cabin before dark; barring that, make sure to have multiple offline versions of the directions: 1) Google Maps directions and map screenshots to the destination, and 2) Joy's written directions. She was very proactive and communicative via satellite phone when we were lost at night. Thanks again Joy for trusting us with your family's private home.

We had a great time at the cabin. The sunrise and sunsets were amazing from the view off of the porch. We had the wood stove going and made the cabin nice and cozy. We will definitely be wanting to get back up there.

Really lovely cabin! Cozy, comfortable, and super easy to settle into with everything you need on hand. Perfect spot to relax and recharge.
Putting water through the filter worked out perfectly, the stove was nice and cozy, and even the cows made for some entertaining "wildlife" viewing!

What a delightful stay we had at the Meadow Cabin. Our 4 night, 5 day stay was exactly what we needed. The fact that there is no wifi or cell service was a total blessing! The cabin is a great place to disconnect from the noise and I was able to relax deeply and reconnect with myself and my wife. I smiled more. Slept more. Rested more. Took gentle, ambling walks. I actually read for almost a whole day and ended up finishing an amazing 900+ page book—something I haven't done in years.
Our dogs loved it! Watching the cows was like a meditation. The colors and the weather shifted and changed throughout our stay, with a downpour with hail clearing much of the smoke from a southerly fire. So peaceful.
The peace and quiet at the Meadow Cabin seems a rarity these days. We will definitely be back. It is an inspiring stay for sure.
