One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. The cabin is nestled in a forested community next the hood canal, famous for its rich waters and shellfish harvesting. This is the perfect base for your adventures on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a great central location close to endless amazing hiking trails, including Olympic NP and multiple state parks less than 10 minutes away. The highlight of the cabin is the log bridge across the creek! You will feel like you are on an amazing hiking trail or in a fairytale on the rainforest-like grounds with a babbling brook or rushing creek running through it depending on how much rain we have had. Our property is directly across the street from access to the national forest service roads with miles of roads and trails. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: The cabin is older and rustic, and we are renovating it over time. There is a very steep/narrow staircase that excesses the second floor, and the twin bed artea is part of the lofty and is not an enclosed bedroom. The living space and kitchen are open concept, and there is seating for 4 at the dining room table and 2 countertop barstools as well. The adorable farmhouse style kitchen has everything you need to cook meals during your stay, including all cooking essentials and basic spices. We also have pancake mix and quick oats for our guests in case you forgot to bring your own breakfast. If you are lucky enough to stay in late summer, you can walk across the street to pick wild blackberries. The living room has a large TV and a nice selection of DVDs to choose from. We also have Starlink for both internet and streaming services. Cell service can be hit or miss depending on provider. The bathroom is on the lower level, as well as the first bedroom which has a queen bed. The 2nd bedroom opens up with a barn door and also has a queen bed as well as beautiful views of the creek and trees. For this reason it is my favorite bedroom! At the bottom of the stairs is the mud room which is a an enclosed patio and is a great place to store recreational equipment or wet/muddy items. It also allows excess to one of the decks which features outdoor seating and a bbq.

Incredible location! This sweet cabin is nestled at the base of Mt. Jupiter, directly between Dosewallips beach and the Olympic national Park. There's lots of gorgeous, mossy maples, shaggy cedars, and elk herds roaming free. The Cabin is easily accessible from the road, and has parking available. There's a secluded fire pit behind the cabin with a seasonal stream running by. Its a relaxing place to hang out for a few days, and/or excellent basecamp to explore the amazing forests, mountains, and beaches nearby. Also, there's lots of great foraging to be done (nettles, mushrooms, and oysters; oh my!) GPS LOCATION: When driving to the cabin, your GPS will tell you that 'your destination is on the left'. This is a lie. The cabin will be on the right. There is a metal gate that is closed with a chain but not locked. CABIN LAYOUT AND SLEEPING AMENITIES: The Cabin is just a little guy; only 16'x20'. There is a kitchen, living room, and dining room area, and the bathroom is a separate room - we call it our 'studio cabin'. We have a fold out couch for which we provide linens, pillows, and a comforter. There is also an inflatable mattress that is a tight squeeze, but can allow for four people to sleep (with a little furniture rearranging). There is a deck that is large enough for a two person tent that would also make a four person camp-out comfortable. All linens and towels are stored in the trunk and the bathroom cabinet. There is a 4' round dining room table with four chairs and a small table on the porch with two more chairs. All the cushions for the chairs are in a cabinet under the table inside. ACCESSIBILITY: Unfortunately, the cabin is not wheelchair accessible. There are 5 stairs up to the deck and the bathroom door is only 27" wide. SURROUNDING AREA: There are small trails leading away from the cabin; do not walk down them! They lead to neighboring properties and I cannot guarantee that there won't be neighbors who would be very surprised by a stranger showing up on their land! There are lots of public trails only a few minutes drive in either direction from the property :) STOLEN LAND: This property is on stolen, indigenous land. If you are Coast Salish or Makah, please get in touch with me for a discounted stay.

2 nights at The Plank and Pillow on Pirate Cove

We had such a great time staying at this pirate-themed cabin for two nights! We came to celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday, and the host made it extra special by leaving her a birthday shirt. There was also a welcome box with everything we needed for s’mores, which was such a thoughtful touch. The lake was definitely a highlight. Having our own private pier and access to kayaks, boats, and floaties kept the whole family entertained for hours. Even when it rained, we had plenty to do with all the games and movies inside the cabin. The only thing I wish had been different was having an indoor bathroom. The portable restroom worked fine, but it’s at the top of the driveway, which could be tricky with kids. It definitely wouldn’t keep us from coming back, though! Overall, it was an amazing stay, and you can tell the host has put so much thought into making this a fun experience. We made some wonderful family memories and would absolutely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to The Plank and Pillow on Pirate Cove

Our family had an amazing weekend at the Plank and Pillow at Pirate Cove. Before our weekend began Kevin was a gracious host, answering all of our pre-trip questions and giving us all the helpful information to make our trip great! The location was perfect, felt like we had the cove to ourselves and the views were spectacular. We have a couple of teenagers and a one year old in our family and there was plenty of fun to be had by all! The teenagers were out on the water the whole trip except to eat or sleep. They loved all of the water crafts and really enjoyed learning to kayak and paddle board! We brought some fishing gear and had some luck fishing off the dock and even took the row boat out for some fishing too! The cabin itself provided everything we needed and it seems Kevin had thought of everything! The sleeping arrangements worked perfect for us, one of the teenagers had the bunk room, one stayed upstairs on the pull out bed and the captain’s quarters had a comfortable bed with enough room to put a pack n play for the baby! The portapotty may remind you that you are camping, but a nice warm shower after a swim in the lake in a the outdoor shower gives you some relaxing resort vibes! We had a fantastic stay and hope to that the winds have us sailing back in for another stay in the future!

Weekend Trip to Coffee Creek Community & Gardens

We had a fantastic stay at this farm ranch in Centralia! The cabin was small but incredibly cozy and had absolutely everything we needed for a quick stay, including a fridge, stove, and running water. The staff was incredibly helpful and made communication super easy via text. One of our highlights was the outdoor hot tub, which was so relaxing and fun to enjoy in the evening. We also loved the farm tour. It was so interesting to see all the different animals like the sheep, chickens, turkeys, and goats! There was a separate, large kitchen built into an old school bus; while we didn't use it, it looked very well-stocked and unique. Lastly, we really appreciated the welcoming and LGBTQ+ friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend!

This is more than just a cabin. It feels more like an oasis away from reality. Scott is a fantastic host, the property is gorgeous and the fenced property is an immense joy for people with more than one dog! I can’t recommend this place enough

We had a lovely time at Mokey’s adorable treehouse cabin. There’s nothing like waking up in the forest. The animals were pretty loud in the morning (some ravens were loudly yelling lol) but we found it more entertaining than intrusive. Loved the cedar hot tub! Mokey was welcoming and responsive and made everything easy. The cabin is super cute and compact—we crammed in 4 people but would recommend keeping it to 2 or 3 for maximum comfort. The compost outhouse was the cleanest and least smelly I’ve ever used. We had a fun outing to Centralia with its historic charm, and enjoyed beautiful farm fresh eggs for breakfast at the cabin while looking out at treetops. Would definitely stay here again!

2 nights at The Plank and Pillow on Pirate Cove

Argh!! Absolutely loved staying at The Plank and Pillow! Fabulously themed pirate cabin right on the lake with all the water crafts needed to enjoy the surrounding area. The lake is huge with lots of fingers but quiet due to motor boats being limited to 5mph. The hubby caught 2 big fish off the pedal boat, the kayaks were used till we could paddle no more, and my 17 year old loves herself a paddleboard! Roasted hotdogs and s’mores at the fire pit. The evening lighting that kicked in on its own was very cool! My crew has stayed at many a lakeside cabin and this is our new favorite spot. We had such a good time, even with cloudy weather and using a portapotty. Exceptional location, exceptional hosts! We highly recommend and will definitely drop anchor again in the future

Beautiful cabin with hot showers, stocked kitchen, and plenty of cozy blankets! We also camped outside and had a great fire. Great spot close to perfect hikes to round out our weekend getaway.

It was a lovely place to stay. I enjoyed hearing the chickens and turkeys in the morning. I loved the farm tour and the wood fired hot tub was a treat. Mokey was friendly and had everything stocked well in the place. I would definitely recommend this place for a great place to stay.

1 night at Cole's Cabin on Anderson Island

A quick getaway to the island was just the reprieve we needed. The cabin was comfortable and clean. We had a little trouble finding the beach access but Fred was helpful and guided us in the right direction. There's mixed messages about if the store on the island is open -- to date, it is NOT. Neither is the coffee shop, even though Google maps says it is. Be sure to buy and bring what you need before you go. The only thing open on the island is the restaurant, which was open 12-8pm the days we were there. We were a little under-prepared but it worked out and we had a nice time.

Weekend Trip to The Kings Cottage-Adventure awaits!

I didn’t know this spot could be improved upon from last year - but it’s even more beautiful now! We had 7 in our group and also rented 3 of the A-frames this year. Everyone was so happy with their own comfortable, private spots and lots of space to gather for meals, campfire and games. So much thought and care has gone into this property and we were constantly finding new charming little things that made us smile. The outdoor kitchen is so well equipped and we didn’t want for anything. Spent a day at one of the private beaches, got brunch at a local restaurant and did our grocery shopping all nearby. You can’t go wrong booking this spot and we hope to return next year!

Weekend Trip to Cole's Cabin on Anderson Island

Fred’s cabin is magical! My partner and I live in the busy city and it was so healing and fun to spend time quality time at the cabin with our two dogs. The cabin truly has everything you need and it’s very cute and cozy. We spent a lot of time down at the private beach as well and never even saw another person. We will definitely be making a trip back to stay at the cabin.
