We try to keep your need to bring much to a minimum, so we provide plenty of blankets and pillows ( or sleeping bag if desired), dishes and some cookware for over-the-fire meals, towels and wash cloths if a rain barrel “cat bath” is in order :), hand soap and toilet paper too! Wildlife, including eagles, hawks, turkey, fox, rabbit, deer, fireflies and more are abundant on the 66-acre property. If you are interested in history, ask John. He will tell you about the Civil War battle fought here and the tobacco baron who once owned the estate. Two of our cabins are off grid — no electric and no plumbing but with alternative water and light. The third and newest enjoys electric. While there is no "running" water, we bring you fresh spring water. And while there is no electric in 2 cabins we make up for it with solar and battery lights and fans. We also offer a propane heater in all 3 to keep you toasty in cooler weather. Both off-grid cabins are equipped with a comfy, luxury queen-sized bed and box spring with fresh linens and plenty of pillows, a chair, and tables. The cabins are approximately 12x14 of interior living space plus a semi covered 16’ x 8’ deck with chairs and table. The original cabin is slightly smaller interior than the lower cabin. The newest third cabin is called the Boxwood Overlook Cabin, because it is surrounded by huge boxwoods and overlooks the entire property. It sits where the original main house was located, but burned down in the 1920's. It is more luxurious that the other 2. It's 12x20, includes an organic queen bed, refrigerator, reclining chairs, interior and exterior lights. And you can drive right to the front door. Each cabin gets a propane heater which keeps you toasty even on the coldest winter nights. In warmer months, the 2 off-grid cabins have battery-powered fans with plenty of industrial batteries. They also enjoys plenty of solar powered torch lamps which offer a terrific ambiance. We do recommend you bring flashlights and or headlamps. If you forget, no worries, we got you covered. The Boxwood Overlook cabin has electricity with interior and exterior lights, refrigerator and AC in the summer. All the cabins enjoy 5-gallon containers of fresh spring water and their own private Loo House/bathroom. The Loo Houses or bathrooms are semi open air. They have roofs, a solar bag shower, and bedside commodes with large, disposable, biodegradable bag inside with special sand that solidifies your waste. You dispose of the bag at a nearby trash box off property, just like a diaper. Extra bags are available. Each cabin has its own fire pit and grill with everything you need to make a fire, including split wood, kindling, newspaper and lighter. Firewood is $7.50 per crate. And if you need help starting your fire, no worries, John will help you. The "Jefferson Sea" is a description many attribute to the nation's 4th President, Thomas Jefferson, who enjoyed the same ocean-like view (but better) of fields and trees below his home at Monticello, that is located 15 miles down the road. Enjoy giant Ginkgo trees (especially in the Fall), boxwood gardens, colossal Tulip Poplars, and Osage Orange trees, and wild organic raspberries in July. We support BIPOC and all are welcome to enjoy our property :) There is a 2-night minimum on weekends. Had a great time!! It is a very special property and Jennifer was kind to show us the animals and tell us more about the history. The little cabin was comfortable and had all the basic cooking items we needed as well as plenty of water for dishes/handwashing! We enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting at a nearby winery that Jennifer gave us, but overall just hung out at the property and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Also, the outhouse is difficult to see if you arrive at night, but it is there, just a few feet off the trail by the solar lights :)

Quite a beautiful drive up to the top of the hill with the changing trees. Very secluded property, cabin and outhouse located at the base of the driveway with the main house just behind. Adorable porch, so so cozy and clean inside, great little woodstove. The toilet is conveniently located in a shed and very clean. It was my friend’s first time ever camping and she happily used it! Lol. Such a great place to unwind after a day of hiking!

My fiancee and I had a lovely and relaxing stay at this glamping site. It was beautiful and scenic, and the stars really came out and popped at night when the skies were clear. There is a toilet right behind the tent and a shower on site, as well as wifi provided, which is very convenient. Jud was incredible and very accommodating for all of our needs. We had a great time time chatting with him about how he arrived to the area and he gave great recommendations on things to do / check out nearby. We are already planning our next trip back, next time with more of our friends! Lovely stay - couldn't recommend enough.

The tiny home was so well equipped and cozy. Clinton was communicative and kind, and even cranked up the generator when we arrived later than intended after a hike. The directions were clear and helpful upon arrival and we had a really special time. We look forward to coming back here soon and enjoying the walks, home, bon fires, chilly morning arc and beautiful foliage.

We absolutely loved staying here. It was "roughing it" without really "roughing it". I.e., we had access to a toilet and an actual bed. The night we arrived was unseasonably cold, but a propane heater was provided and the bed was warm, cozy and really felt luxurious. So comfy! Jud taught us about the berries on the bushes that kids loved to eat and also feed the goats with. The location was perfect too. Allowed us to be flexible with our plans since hikes and other attractions were abundant, some as close as minutes away. Has easily become one of our favorite places to camp.

I made it to the site right as a big storm was rolling through, barely threw my bags and dog into the tent before the skies opened up. Heavy rain on the tent was pretty loud, but I stayed dry and cozy and since my campfire plans were dashed, was so grateful to have the wood stove inside to still get some crackling wood and warm glow - and also to heat up my apple cider! Michael was quick and responsive to messages, his directions were clear, and I very much enjoyed my quick stay in the spacious and comfortable tent!

We had a great experience glamping. Everything you foul ever need had been thought of and provided. The host gave us a warm welcome and provided detailed instructions. We are used to camping so having a bed and toilet was quite the treat. First night got down to 45 and there was a small propane heater we used to heat the tent before bed and when we woke up so we were quite warm. The land and area are beautiful and we enjoyed the plentiful stars. Blue quartz winery/brewery was truly at the end of the road and we had a fabulous evening with more views there after hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Definitely would recommend the stay to others and hope to come back soon!
