We are 10 minutes from the Potomac River, 10 minutes from Opequon Creek, 20 from Antietam Creek and 30 minutes from the Shenandoah River. Harper's Ferry is 30 minutes way and downtown Historic Shepherdstown is just down the road.
We are also close to several state parks.
- What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ?
The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it).
- CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees.
- SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to.
- RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response.

- Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

Brand new custom high end "glamping" cabin nestled along the Cacapon River. Cacapon River is one of the cleanest rivers in West Virginia. The name Cacapon was given by the native americans for the healing aspects of the water. The cabin is located on the famous Riverdale Farm property that was home of Captain David Pugh. Captain Pugh was the last person to sign succession papers to make West Virginia a state. As we say, " West Virginia started here". There is also a firepit with Adirondack chairs, a gas grill, lounge chairs and indoor and outdoor games for your enjoyment.

The cabin was very well heated for hours in 30 degree and below weather. Well stocked with supplies, and Matt was helpful in providing freshly chopped firewood, lighter, and a grill! A big supply of drinking water and coffee. Had a great time having a bonfire the whole night. Porta potty was pretty decent too. Matt seemed like a cool host in general, and gave us great suggestions for hiking! Would recommend to anyone and I would probably hang out with him if he invited us.

We had an incredible stay during our family trip. We originally booked for two nights but ended up extending another day because we didn’t want to leave. We came as a family of four with two little kids, and this place exceeded all our expectations.
The property is beautiful with incredible views and great amenities, you really don’t need to leave. Our kids especially loved the arcade, the pumpkin carving, and the zip line.
The tiny home was spotless, well kept, and the welcome basket with snacks, wine, and s’mores kit was such a nice touch. We had the pleasure of the owners who were warm and hospitable. Their recommendation to visit the Farmers Daughter shop was spot-on, the burgers, sausages, and steak were fantastic.
Quiet, relaxing, and perfect for families or couples. We’re already planning our next trip. Highly recommend, 5 stars!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kale’s Cottage. We found it clean, comfortable and well-appointed. The kitchen has all the basics which allowed us to eat all of our meals in the tiny house. We made a fire one evening and enjoyed s’mores. The host is delightful, attentive, responsive and kind. We have already booked another visit.

The perfect spot for a getaway! The hosts have thought of everything to make this spot comfortable and easy to be in. I felt relaxed right away. We loved our stay at Gracie’s Place. It’s a rustic and romantic cabin tucked in the woods, perfect for a quiet weekend escape. The host was incredibly thoughtful—he had everything we needed ready for us, including paper towels, water, firewood, and even a wine bottle opener.
The cabin itself was cozy and charming. The bed was very comfy and the personal balcony gave us a sense of tranquility, surrounded by nature. It felt peaceful and remote while still being close enough to town and stores for quick trips.
The only drawback is there’s a house nearby with a partial view into the curtainless window which took away a bit of our privacy. Still, the atmosphere was romantic and relaxing overall and we’d absolutely recommend this stay.

We had such a wonderful stay at Matt’s cabin! It perfectly blends the charm of the outdoors with the comfort of essential amenities. The setting was peaceful and secluded, surrounded by trees and nature sounds. The owner’s house was close behind but we didn’t hear any noise and everything still felt very private. He made sure we had everything we needed and showed us where to get firewood. We loved sipping coffee on the porch in the morning and stargazing by the fire at night. Even though it felt “off the grid,” everything was clean, comfortable, and easy to use — from the bathroom setup in the parking area and outdoor kitchen, to the heat/AC and hot shower! You can tell Matt put a lot of care into making guests feel welcome and at home. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway that offers both rustic charm and a touch of glamping, this cabin is it. We can’t wait to come back!

My friend and I, both in our late 60's, had the best couple of days at Hillarys place. Walking around the grounds was just so peaceful and relaxing. This was our 2nd visit, the 1st time we stayed in the Tiny Tree house, it was so much fun...a real nature adventure, but the steps are a bit much for us now. This time we stayed in the Cosmic Cottage, it was perfect! I liked that we could unload our stuff right at the door then park close by. I especially liked that the cottage has electric, it made making coffee and heating food a luxury. The bed in both places is wood pallets on the floor topped with a futon mattress, each time I brought a 4" foam to put over it...so we were very comfortable. There's only one bed so you have to be very good friends...like us, since childhood🙂 We also enjoyed fires in the nice, big firepit in back. We went to nearby Sheppherdstown and Harpers Ferry too. I highly recommend this place for a peaceful getaway and we will definitely be returning...we'd like to try the giant tent next time.

Loved staying at this little slice of heaven. Our host Matt was so accommodating and provided us with firewood and great vibes! He was great with our dog too. The cabin we stayed in was perfect - the bed was lofted with plenty of storage underneath for camp stuff. The shower had a skylight and hot water! And our view was fantastic, as the cabin is lofted up with big windows so all you can see are trees when you’re in bed. Had ac and heat, as well as a big jug of water. We will definitely be coming back, this was the perfect escape from the city. Fire pit was great too!

Hook's Hideaway is still our favorite weekend getaway. Waking up and drinking coffee with a river front view is amazing whether you're on the covered balcony or inside with the floor to ceiling windows in the living room. Just enough creature comforts inside for her and rustic enough outside around the fire pit for me. Richie and Rae are both great, responsive hosts that always make sure our stay is memorable. Love this place!

Matt's place is super cozy, clean, and well supplied. There's a little fire ring just outside the cabin, and the port-a-john is just a brief walk down the hill next to the parking pad. He has a countertop grill just outside the cabin that was perfect for cooking up meals.
The bed was comfortable and it was lovely to wake up with views of the trees. Matt was a warm and welcoming host and very easy to communicate with. Great spot for thru hikers, or a quick visit to the Harper's Ferry area.

Weekend Trip to Riverdale Farm
This place gets all the stars and all the rating points. The place itself is cute and cozy and also very comfortable. The host has thought of so many things to make it wonderful between the two different fire pit options, the hot tub, a telescope for star gazing, and snacks/treats for us to enjoy. It's so calm and peaceful out here. You're surrounded by trees that a trip at any time of year is awesome.
