Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it.  DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.  Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here.  Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away.  This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet.  About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. Campers will have access to a private composting toilet, fire pit, and picnic table.  We offer two different campsites on the property, so note that you may see or hear other campers on the grounds during your stay.  What to bring Your tent and camping equipment Potable water and/or water filtration and purification equipment Fire starting equipment if needed, assuming there is no local fire ban in place Pets are welcome During warm months, a swim suit to enjoy the river! Additional details to note There are grill grates provided but campers should bring their own camping stoves and cooking supplies if they need more than just a grill grate.  No WiFi is provided, and there is limited reception for some cellular carriers.

Looking for an affordable place to park your car, camper-van, or tent in Blacksburg? That's us! We are located 20 minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia tech but with a country atmosphere and a view of the New River. Our home is also home to three cats, a dog (who is fenced and quiet), chickens, and two peacocks. We would prefer you not bring an animal of your own unless it is leased at all times and well-trained. We have a picnic table and a fire pit. We also have an electric hookup and a trash can on the front porch for your use. Our home and campsite have a river view, BUT NO river access. Please do not cross onto our neighbors' property! However, if you want to access the river, the New River Junction is .5 miles down the road and has tube rentals from late spring to early fall! Our home is easy to find, turn from Price's Fork rd onto McCoy rd and follow it to the end (approx 7 miles). Turn right at the stop sign, and we are to the left of Big Falls in .3 miles. Our house is visible from the road and has a trampoline and chickens roaming. Be aware, there is limited cell service and NO easily accessible bathroom. Pee jars and camp toilets welcome. You can use our toilet inside if we are home. There is also a train a couple of times a day. We think it's pretty quiet, but you be the judge! Happy camping!

The property is 4.66 acres at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, only 1 mile from the largest recreation area (Doughton Park) on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Longbottom Leaves is a working permaculture homestead. We have two creeks, a (swimming) pond, an off-grid house, a cob pizza oven, a fruit-and-nut orchard, a huge vegetable garden, and over three acres of forest with walking trails through them. We are only 4 miles from Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. Hiking and fishing are fantastic in both Doughton Park and Stone Mountain SP, and Stone Mountain also has rock climbing routes. In addition, we are less than a 30-minute drive from about a dozen or so vineyards. Elkin NC is about 40 minutes east, Wilkesboro NC is about 40 minutes south, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is 20 minutes away. We--Emma and Jonathon--live in an off-grid cabin on the property. Located in the tranquil, natural woodlands of our historic family farm. There are 30 acres of hiking trails with remnants of what once was an 80 acre old fashioned family tobacco farm. There are plenty of level areas covered in lush grass and surrounded by trees as old as dirt! The Honeymoon Sweet provides an indoor experience. It was built by my Uncle Frank who cut the wood off the land and milled it into the lumber he needed to make this unique, rustic space. There is a rock fire pit with lots of easily accessible firewood. You can hang out and enjoy mother nature or visit one of the many local tourist attractions like Pilot Mountain State Park, historic Mt Airy with it's charming small town hospitality, Hanging Rock State Park in the Sauratown Mountains affords breathtaking views, hiking trails, waterfalls and fishing. If you are a history buff, we are just a short drive to Bethania a National Historic Landmark, Historic Bethabara founded by Moravians in 1753 or step back to the 18th century at Old Salem home of the famous Winkler Bakery and Salem Tavern that provided lodging for George Washington in 1791.

The farm is set on an 8 acre farm in a tranquil valley 10 minutes north of charming Lansing, NC and 1 mile south of the Virginia border. The property is set back from the main road, providing privacy and tranquility. Since this is a working farm, the owner and farm helpers may be present tending the sheep, renovating one of the old outbuildings, tending the flower farm, or just mowing the lawn. There is a designated RV spot with gravel pad and hookups to septic, electricity, and water in front of the barn. Guests have access to the lower area of the property including the flower farm and open fields but do not have access to the upper part of the property including the main house without permission from the owner. We are at 3000 feet elevation and rely on mountain breezes and fans to keep cool in the summer. The climate here is very nice in the summer, wonderful in fall and spring with crisp nights, and cold in the winter with more snow than most parts of the South.

We both garden and write (travel- and sustainability-type stuff), and we are happy to share info about the property and stuff to do around the area.

Updated farmhouse on 30 acres with magnificent views! Evvie’s View is located on a working farm with chickens, a vegetable garden, and acres of white pine. Perfect spot for nature enthusiasts, plenty of hiking, kayaking, cycling, and sightseeing opportunities! The house sits off the road and is secluded, but has easy access and is conveniently located close to West Jefferson and Lansing. The new river is at the end of the road, and there are creeks on the property. Beautiful, peaceful stay surrounded by nature. The property has been lovingly cared for and farmed by the same family since 1802. We are excited to share this little piece of heaven with you!
