Ideal as a retreat for couples, writers, artists, nature lovers, hikers, bicyclists and wildlife enthusiasts. The tent offers a king-sized bed, outdoor fireplace, tent stove, upscale decor, full outdoor shower facility, composting toilet, separate pop-up private bathroom tent, and outdoor chaise lounge. Please note: there is not electricity on the site, although the outdoor bathroom has full plumbing. The site is 400 ft from the parking area and there are are six steps up a hill (see photos), so those that have mobility issues may not enjoy the stay. The driveway is rough, we're working on it. Located less than a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, this little hayfield is nestled just a skip away from Mabry Mill (the most photographed spot on the parkway), Villa Appalachia (quant Italian style winery), Chateau Morrisette (larger tourist winery), Nancy's Fudge (a little candy factory and shop), and hiking trails of varying lengths with epic views (Black Ridge Trail and Rock Castle Gorge Trail). Each of these are under 5 miles from our camp spot. Yet, if you are also hoping to hop out of your camper and WALK somewhere, there is a hike that leads you directly up to Chateau Morissette.The property itself is a hayfield that typically has a couple of cuttings each summer. There just happens to be a full hook up campsite located at the edge of the property that someone should be enjoying. The property owner (my dad, who is in his mid 70s and doesn't internet so well) lives in a log home that is across the field on the adjacent property. He is probably going to stop by to say hi. Our 65 acre farm is secluded and peaceful. We have a small pond with catfish, bluegill, large mouth bass (catch and release only) and a gentle creek. We have chickens, sheep, a pig, cows and diary goats. Enjoy a walk down to the pond and take a picture by the old farm house (from the early 1800's) or explore history in the cemetery. You could also take the kids for a hike in the forest and search for mushrooms. At the end of the day you can kick back by the fire pit, stargaze and make some s'mores. We've decided to keep the cabin open for the winter months (Dec. through March) but the bath house will not be open unless we have unseasonably warm temperatures. There will be outhouses for your use and we can provide drinking water if you need it.

We are close to the legendary Mayberry NC , also known as Mt Airy NC and many wineries and breweries in NC and VA. We will send an email with general information and links after you book.
For now we are only taking one booking at a time so you can choose your spot and have the whole place to yourself and your group up to 16 adults.
There are multiple tent sites as well as room for one or 2 small campers. You can set up your tent under the pavilion or on the band pavilion or string hammocks under the pavilion or from the trees.
