Looking for a personal retreat or get away ? Escape to our beautiful, RUSTIC 32 acre wild homestead / farm. A lovely balance between wild and tame.
We are 10 minutes from the Potomac River, 10 minutes from Opequon Creek, 20 from Antietam Creek and 30 minutes from the Shenandoah River. Harper's Ferry is 30 minutes way and downtown Historic Shepherdstown is just down the road.
We are also close to several state parks.
- What do we mean by "RUSTIC" ?
The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, slowing down and re-connecting with the land. Simply put, this is CAMPING .... not glamping. (Our Cosmic Cottage is also rustic, despite the amenities that come with it).
- CAMPSITES and TREEHOUSE - No electricity or wifi on the land. Campsites and TREEHOUSE are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site and get any closer because of the trees.
- SHOWER and PORTA POTTY - roughly a 5 minute or less walk from sites to shower and / or porta potty. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. The shower has hot and cold running water . You can drive to the shower if you need to.
- RESPONSE TIME - This is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we so do not always have our phones on us. We will make every effort to respond to you within a few hours. Please be patient and you will receive a response.

- Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (heads up.. the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods).

We have rolling pasture, old wood forest, streams and two ponds on our property. Beautiful tranquil views everywhere.
We have a small pond with all kinds of frogs, spring peepers. We also have a larger pond that has catch and release fishing.
Lots of hiking trails in the area with spectacular views.
There is a country store here in Fort Valley with gas and a deli.

Weekend Trip to Fairy Glen Farm
Loved spending a glamping weekend at Sue’s! It’s nestled in the middle of many hiking trails, the Woodstock tower, and wineries. The yurt itself is incredibly comfortable, and the A/C unit is a dream. Sue met us at arrival and was super friendly and walked us through all the supplies they had available to make the camping weekend perfect.

What a wonderful place! Sue and John were above and beyond...super kind and made sure we had everything we could possibly need. The bed and tent are super cozy and comfy and the land it is on is beautiful. Being able to use the creek and pond really made our weekend spectacular! Hillary's land on a hot, dry September afternoon filled us with joy. We explored the meadow trails. We sniffed the varieties of herbs. We embraced the Mother Tree. This is a meditative place and a true sanctuary. Bell Tent is a grand place to sleep, everything we could want — clear directions, well-kept facilities, and privacy to UNWIND.

We stayed in the Bell Tent. It was very comfortable and our child really enjoyed its proximity to the Sacred Circle. I did need earplugs because of the train, nearby cows (bulls?) , shooting practice nearby(?), small planes, and a surprising number of middle of the night howling dogs/coyotes(?). Hillary was very pleasant and welcoming and the property had a number of hidden and whimsical spots for meditation, walking, and herb identification. Everyone in my family said they'd love to come back. We had a wonderful stay. I also loved the wind chimes!

We had a wonderful time at John and Suzanne's. The space was well stocked and the A/C made the glamping great even on a 90+ degree day. There were beautiful spots to sit by the creek and enjoy nature. Highly recommended!

The trickle of the freshwater creek, the flitter of the redwing blackbird and the cardinal pair over the small pond, the rhythmic croaks of the bullfrogs, the chatter of the chickens on the hillside, and the utter quiet of just before dawn proved to be a welcome backdrop for our family’s 4th of July weekend. Our hosts’ genuine graciousness came naturally to them. Their intentional crafting of Fairy Glen Farm—a place apart—is noticeable in a multitude of ways and is sure to sustain them and many future guests.

We had an amazing time visiting John and Suzanne's slice of paradise on Fairy Glen Farm! After turning at the sign for the property it was a straight shot and easy to locate. The campsite itself is wonderful and looks exactly as advertised, with all possible amenities for cooking and cleaning up, and firewood as far as the eye can see. Sue came down to greet us shortly after arrival and is super kind and welcoming so you better be nice to her! We were also lucky to be the guinea pigs for the new portable air conditioning unit inside the tent and it kept us very cool and comfortable throughout the night. Catch up on your reading, cook some tasty food, share great conversation around the firepit, or take a much needed nap in the hammock! Highly recommend this spot for a peaceful getaway, especially if you have a dog who will both enjoy and behave themselves off-leash.

Weekend Trip to Fairy Glen Farm
My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at this glamping spot in the Shenandoah. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by stunning natural views, creating the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The amenities truly made the experience even more enjoyable. The heated tent kept us warm and cozy, even on a chilly night, and the outhouse bathroom was clean and convenient. The entire setup, from the firepit to the rustic wooden furniture, made it feel like a perfect blend of comfort and outdoor adventure.
One of the highlights was how close it was to a local winery, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful afternoon sipping wine with a gorgeous backdrop. Whether we were relaxing in the tent, sitting by the fire, or taking in the quiet beauty of the surrounding forest, this trip was exactly what we needed.
If you’re looking for a romantic, cozy, and well-equipped camping getaway in the Shenandoah, I highly recommend this spot. We’ll definitely be coming back. The host went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we need as well as recommending all the stuff to see and do nearby!

Weekend Trip to Fairy Glen Farm
Fairy Glen was an amazing getaway and such a relaxing night. Lots of property to walk around and explore, all the amenities needed to cook meals and start a fire, and the bed and tent setup were all well thought out.
Suzanne was very friendly, came over to give me a quick intro and breakdown of everything and was available if I needed anything. Their house was fairly nearby and within sight which I thought was great b/c it felt safe being there if I needed anything.
Great stay and would recommend to anyone!
