With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

3 nights at NEW RIVER REDEMPTION

We stayed during a snow fall, so we did not get the full river experience- but even in November the view is beautiful. The little cabin was just enough for my young family of 4 and our dog. Host made it super simple and had everything we would need and made sure to check on us via messages to make sure the heater was sufficient (which it definitely was).

Had a blast staying in this tiny cabin! Super private and peaceful and had lots of room for our pup to run around. The creek nearby is super fun to explore. We were even visited by a very sweet horse that lives on the property! Will definitely be booking again.

3 nights at A Tiny A-Frame 15 acres creek front

We stayed at the A-frame cabin for three nights and had a great time. The spot is tucked nicely into the woods, far enough from the main road to feel private. There’s a small road off to the right, but the sound of the creek next to the cabin easily masks any passing cars. The place had everything we needed. There’s a full setup for cooking, a fridge and freezer, and a futon. The futon mattress is a little thin though, and you can feel the frame underneath. I brought a tri-fold memory foam topper, which fixed that completely. When the futon is extended, you can fit a twin mattress on the floor beside it, but that’s about the max you’ll get in there comfortably. The outhouse was surprisingly nice, with no strong odor. The whole property feels peaceful and remote, nestled in the western part of North Carolina. The internet handled work calls fine, and if you need faster speeds, the local library in town has solid high-speed access. Everyone we met was friendly. Dennis and Ashley were great hosts and stayed in touch the whole time. We’ll definitely be coming back. It’s the perfect home base for hiking around western North Carolina.

We really enjoyed our stay at Camp Karuga! The property is beautiful, and the cabin and facilities were very clean. The lofted sleeping area was a bit close to the ceiling, making getting in and out a bit challenging, but there was room to spread out once up there, and the sound of the babbling stream outside was very peaceful. There’s also enough room on the main floor that you could sleep there if you prefer. The swing and firepit were great cozy touches that we enjoyed using. Kathy was very responsive to our texts, and CJ and Quint (the dogs) were welcoming and attentive! Overall a great stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. The place was beautiful, cozy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing time. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made our experience even better. One of the highlights was the creek right next to the property—it added such a peaceful and special touch to the stay. Highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to Plumtree Campground Tents & Cabins

Plumtree Campground was a great experience for my family. We stayed in the primitive cabin and it was much roomier than the pictures make it look. Also a lovely view of the mountains from our porch. There is a nice little playground that my daughters loved and even a hiking trail on the grounds. On our second night there was live music which made the experience even more special. The owners and managers were wonderfully nice and helpful. It’s a clean environment and very family friendly. We will definitely be going back!

We loved staying here! Connie and Ashley were so welcoming and made our stay a delight. The Wagon was being remodeled so they moved us to Pondside which was so cute and comfy to stay in. What a beautiful farm, so glad they are sharing it. Can’t wait to come back!

We brought our two dogs to this lovely forest getaway. There was a road nearby but it was not too loud or disruptive. We felt tucked away in nature. The little AFrame was perfect for the 4 of us and they even provided lots of firewood. We had fun cooking over the fire, resting by the creek, and walking through the land.

I most appreciated the peacefulness and tranquility of being surrounded by nature. It was so nice to only hear the creek next door and see no one other than a deer and rabbit. Everything was thought of and provided and the entire place was clean and comfortable - even the porta-potty! Can’t wait to go back for another retreat! The accommodations were exactly as described, the grill was great, and the whole experience was just lovely. Favorite thing was listening to the rain on the metal porch roof laying in the hammock with my dog 💖

Gorgeous tiny house and property! We were 3 violinists touring with a Symphony Orchestra, and stayed at the tiny house for 2 nights between concerts. We fell in love with it! The nature around is absolutely beautiful and the view of the stars at night is so clear! Everything we needed was there: BBQ, microwave, pan, utensils, mugs, even a hammock! The double bed and the extra cot Natalie brought for us were very comfortable. The temperature in the house was perfect. Everything is very clean and well taken care of. Natalie is a wonderful host who takes great care of her guests and replies very quickly to messages.

Weekend Trip to Camp Karuga

Kathy was extremely courteous. Bathrooms were very clean, especially considering this is an outdoors/camping venue. The hot water heater wasn't working in the shower house, but Kathy offered to let me shower in her guest room. Wish I had more time to stay, I would like to hike the trail, and possibly try the horseback ride. Hope to come back in couple months for a long weekend.

We had a great time staying here. The space was quaint and peaceful, it had all the basic needs. I was surprised at the comforts it offered in such a small space for cooking and relaxing. The stream was peaceful, and the stars at night were absolutely amazing.

4 nights at Meadowsweet Gardens

Wizard of Oz cabin was exactly what we needed for a camping getaway with all the amenities you’d need - a warm shower, fire pit, charcoal stove and a clean space with all the basics you need. The cabin was super cute, clean, simple and offered all the right supplies needed for our 5 day camping trip: paper plates, washing tub, sheets, blankets, and lanterns. The location is near new river and we kayaked one day along the river. It’s also close to the blue ridge parkway. The place is right off the road which I didn’t know but the traffic wasn’t terrible. And the place does have a small trail down to a stream with mossy forest floor and ferns. And at night there were lots of fireflies - very magical. I’d definitely book this place again.
