Private, peaceful and secluded. We purchased the 5.3 acres as a forest back in 2007. We cut down a little bit of the forest to build our house. Native Americans once lived here. Sometimes you can find arrowheads. Some of the forest burned down in the great Bastrop wildfire in 2011, but it has grown back. Mobile phones work well here. Strong signal. Learn more about this land: Lost Pines Camping is located on a gravel dead-end road. We are in a pine forest with some oaks and have a two-acre lake on the property that is good for swimming. Bastrop and Buescher State Parks are nearby and easy to access through back roads. Blackberries can be picked for a month or so in springtime. Downtown Bastrop and Downtown Smithville are both a ten-minute drive away. The bathroom is a 2 minute walk from the tent site. With a surveyor's wheel it is 334 feet walk through the forest.

Craig was a fantastic host, and his assistant Matt was so kind and helpful! We really enjoyed the property, it was breathtaking with all the pine trees around! The fact that my dog was allowed to roam and explore really took the stress of keeping her leashed off me so I could finally relax as well….probably the best thing about the trip! Our stay at this Hipcamp was truly special. The location is wonderfully remote, far from the noise and distractions of everyday life, and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Watching the sunrise each morning was magical, with colors spilling across the open landscape that made the early wake-up completely worth it. We loved how peaceful it was, with only the sound of cows moving in the distance adding to the rustic charm. One of our favorite surprises was being greeted by the sweetest dogs who seemed to have made it their job to welcome us. They visited us throughout our stay, making the experience feel even more homey and heartwarming. The area nearby was full of hidden gems, and we spent time exploring several antique shops that we absolutely loved. Our host was wonderful and gave us excellent recommendations for places to visit and things to do. Their kindness and hospitality made us feel completely at ease. If you are looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature, with a touch of small-town charm and genuine warmth, this is the perfect spot. We are already looking forward to coming back soon!

Great little spot to lay your head. Cool system of interconnected trails that leads down to the lake. There was a large amount of pine needles everywhere that make for a little extra cushion while sleeping. Bathroom was clean and well maintained.

Great spot for family camping. The property is easy to access (we have a fwd minivan) and there are plenty of places to set up a tent. There is a nice field in the front and trees to the rear of the property. There are plenty of stores within a 15 minute drive in case you forgot any supplies. Kristie was very accommodating and answered all of my questions before the trip. Highly recommend you check this spot out! We are definitely coming back!

Loved the privacy of the RV area and the woods were beautiful. Older trailer with a lot of love put into it, the window unit was a trouper and it was pretty comfortable once it got going. The area surrounding was very comfortable to walk around, the paths were very state-park-esque, and it was a really nice surprise to find a seating area in the woods. It was a bit of a bummer that it took all night for the fridge to get cold enough to cool our drinks, and that the lake was right in front of the house. Overall, it was a great stay and would love to stay again!

Weekend Trip to Stunning Dome Retreat w/Hot Tub

This was our first time using HipCamp, and what an incredible experience! Zvi and Thunder (the resident longhorn on site) were extremely responsive hosts and made sure we had everything that we needed for the duration of our stay. The geodesic dome was beautifully decorated with a sophisticated touch, impeccably clean, and incredibly comfortable. The location was private and peaceful—a perfect getaway from the city. We loved how secluded it felt despite being a short 20 minute drive from Bastrop. One of our favorite parts was waking up to a beautiful sunrise, with the option to open the curtains and let the morning light pour in. At night, the views of the sky were absolutely stunning—perfect for stargazing and soaking in the beauty of the quiet countryside. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to unwind and recharge.

Hollie & Davey's ranch was perfect for me. Beautiful property, and you're camping in nature, not a busy KOA park. Secluded and very peaceful. Easy to go get supplies in Giddings. This was a motocamping trip for me and there are great motorcycle roads all over the area. I will definitely be back.

We loved camping on AJs land. It is primitive camping so don't expect any frills. There is so much green space to spread out. There was one other family camping, but we found our own site to set up. We landed under some trees that provided the right amount of shade from the sun. We loved that they have a communal area by the water with hammocks already set up. It was so peaceful to swing by the water and read. We will definitely visit again.

Beautiful spot nestled in the pines! We loved staying at Craig’s place. Great accessibility for bikers and park goers, and a wonderful place to start our ride to Buescher SP. Our only regret is not going for a swim!
