My pups and I couldn’t have been happier with our stay! The experience exceeded my expectations. We loved how much thought and consideration the hosts put into everything. The description was accurate and informative and the host was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the private river access. It was peaceful and rejuvenating; we will definitely stay here again! My dogs didn’t want to leave. We saw a few snakes, carp, raccoon and deer by the river but bugs were not an issue. Cell service (T-Mobile) was a little spotty at the river, not bad though. The outdoor shower was nice to be able to clean up after playing in the river with my dogs. Definitely check out the little farm stand while you’re there! There were fresh eggs and jellies for sale when we were there.

Had a great weekend! Hot showers, clean porta potty, and plenty of firewood for us to use! Owner was super helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed the fresh eggs they sold that we cooked for breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Weekend Trip to Haven Retreat Lake & Woods Camping

This is my second time hosting a retreat at the McDonald farm, I’ve never felt more comfortable with a host. Samantha goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is amazing. This weekend it was raining when we arrived and Samantha shuttled some of the guest over to us so their cars wouldn’t get stuck and helped them with their luggage. The other host upon arrival was extremely helpful as well and eased any concern I had with the weather before I even had to ask. I’m so grateful for their kindness and Samantha’s quick and easy communication. The land is so beautiful and literally my favorite spot out of Georgetown and other surrounding areas. I will never not go back to the McDonald farm, I can’t wait til next time !

Gorgeous place! We got to see some beautiful wildlife and heard coyotes aplenty. Every evening we watched the sunset from the deck. It was very peaceful.

Weekend Trip to Big Rocks on the Brazos

We loved McDonald's Farm! Beautiful space with infinite firewood and it was so fun visiting the different animals. The roosters can be a bit loud at any time of night but not a deal breaker depending on which site you're at. There is a two lane road nearby that you can hear but you get used to it! The host met us when we got there and gave us a thorough run down of the place and was readily available via text if we had questions

This place is right on the river, it's really peaceful and quiet. It was nice to wake up to the scenery. I would definitely recommend this place to people.

This is our second time here, it's a slice of heaven. Animals, gorgeous water, great space. Our kids LOVE it.

This is a very cool glamping destination! My family of 5 + 2 dogs loved staying out at Stacie & Jeremy’s location. The river access is within the gated neighborhood and we went there 4 times to play. Took advantage of the proximity to Colorado Bend St Park too. Very responsive owner though we didn’t have any issues. We’ve done a lot of camping and glamping over the years, this one ranks near the top.

Weekend Trip to KW Equine Sanctuary and Ranch

Amazing experience camping amongst the horses and other animals. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. I hope to be able to go back again soon.

2 nights at McDonald Farm

Absolutely fantastic stay at the farm. Our host was a total dream: super flexible, kind, gracious, had recommendations and tons of hospitality. They offer a little coffee bar in the garage accompanied by an amazing stand alone camp stove (which came in INCREDIBLE handy for the wind circumstances we had this weekend) and a gorgeous quaint seating area to eat and enjoy company. The animals were a lovely addition that our kiddo loved, the showers were absolutely perfect (incredibly clean, roomy, and efficient), and we got a personal escort to the river that had tons of community chairs, hammocks, and bubbles and nets for little ones to play with. This was an excellent spend of our dollar, and we highly recommend. Communication was always super prompt and top tier. As a strictly state park girly before, this experience blew me out of the water. 11/10!

Absolutely loved our camp experience on the farm! Samantha and RJ are so kind and accommodating. Listening to the river flow under a starry sky while sitting around a campfire is just magic. We loved seeing the pigs and chickens and we just had to hop on the seesaw! The setup to buy fresh eggs, jelly and jam, salsa and peppers is the cutest. I immediately got my hands on the last jar of salsa and boy was it the spicy deliciousness I was hoping for! Thanks for sharing your beautiful property, we will definitely be back!

McDonald Farm

We are now offering daytime river access to the San Gabriel River! This is a secluded, hike to spot for fishing, swimming, grilling, picnicing, and hanging out during the day. Access to our river site is included in your camping fee, or we offer day passes for non-campers! There is no overnight camping on the San Gabriel River. All camping is at the main farm area and campers are able to come and go from the river site as they please. McDonald Farm sits in the historic farming community of Jonah, TX between Georgetown and Taylor on scenic Highway 29. McDonald Farm is named after the patriarch of the family, J.H. Mcdonald, who first acquired the property in 1911. The farm sits on the bank of the San Gabriel River and features a lush canopy of huge pecan trees, sprawling corn fields, prairie, and forest. We are a working farm! We primarily grow corn, but we also have livestock on the property. During daytime hours, you will likely see a variety of farm chores being completed. We are only 7 miles from the Georgetown, TX historical district and square. Some say it’s the most beautiful town square in all of Texas. Enjoy shopping, dining, and festivals! We are 13 miles from Granger Lake, which offers boating and bass fishing opportunities. Highway 29 and the many quaint and scenic country roads that intersect it is popular with cyclists wanting to go for longer rides and enjoy the sights of central Texas and the many historical farms in the area. There is excellent bird-watching and wildlife-viewing opportunities on the property. We frequently see white-tailed deer, as well as other wildlife and many species of birds. There is road noise. Highway 29 can be busy at times, despite being a two-lane road. We also have neighbors, so we request quiet hours after 10 pm Sunday - Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. Ask us about pasture-raised eggs, naturally-raised produce, and baked goods!

There is also a native sweat lodge built that only requires blankets to cover it. This site is closest to the outhouse. If you like to be further away from the hustle and bustle and appreciate more primitive camping, try the CEDAR CREEK Site at the back of the property. This site is near the (seasonal) bubbling creek, under the shade of the Juniper trees. There is a 10x 6ft shade tent with table and optional extension cord for use. (Request power upon booking) If you like a little more action in your campouts we do occasional music events on site. Ask about those dates when booking. We have a water hose for potable water on property and an open air private outhouse in the trees. We have a strict trash Pack in/pack out all trash and pet waste policy. Leave sites better then you found them and don't cut down anything that is growing. No burn bans if you use the rocked pits and put the fire out before you leave/sleep.
