My son and I had a great time camping here! John and Nugget were wonderful hosts - very friendly, welcoming and helpful. John helped guide us to a spot that had enough vertical clearance for our RTT and helped us get our “camp kitchen” setup. It’s a beautiful property - we didn’t get to explore as much as we would have liked because it rained but we will definitely be back!

John’s place is in a great location—15 min to San Marcos and 35 min to Wimberley. He’s a quirky San Marcos local; super nice guy and very accommodating. The neighbors have farm animals and we enjoyed watching/listening to them. There’s only 1 spot that will fit an RV or bus, which is right on the fence line next to the neighbors. We enjoyed our stay.

John was very friendly and provided us with extra water. We were tent camping and NONE of the RV parks near San Marcos allow tents. John's place is primitive camping about 8 miles northwest of San Marcos which is okay.

Very cute, updated, retro Airstream with all the creature comforts of home, and then some! Lovely hot tub and outdoor shower among a beautiful landscaped yard. Nice get away!

John is very friendly and accommodating. The campground is on his property in a very wooded area with many deer and other animals. It is very peaceful and gets cool at night. It was very easy to get to the location and there is a church 5 minutes down the road. 10/10.

My wife and I loved camping on John’s land. We stayed at site 3 which is nicely shaded and close to an outhouse. It’s quiet and peaceful. It’s a little over a hour south of Austin. There are disc golf baskets around the property, which we took full advantage of. For anyone who is planning on visiting San Marcos to go to The Flying Armadillo Disc Golf course- John’s property is minutes away. John is incredibly responsive, helpful, and mindful of his guest’s experience. We’ll certainly be back for more camping adventures.

John and Nugget were excellent hosts. Property was well suited for our large group, and John made sure we were taken care of. Had a blast sitting round the fire at night and hanging out. Will have to come back and try the trampoline!

No frills car camping, highly recommended! John’s land is beautiful and has many sites to choose from with flat places for tents, fire ring, tables and chairs. John is friendly and so are his dogs. He’s done a lot of DIY projects like an outdoor shower, bucket flush toilet, disc golf holes (bring your own discs) and has a few campers, a dump truck and other equipment on site that might not feel like pure nature but it didn’t bother me. If you want a true “pristine natural area” look elsewhere but for weekend car campers it’s a great place. Firewood available on site. 15 mins from downtown.

John was an amazing host and a great guy! This was my first time solo camping as a college student and he went above and beyond with making me feel welcomed on his beautiful property. From the extensive care he puts into this place to his friendly demeanor he was one of the best hosts I’ve ever had ! All the sites he offered were well maintained and you could tell he truly cared for preserving the nature here. He went as far as to check on me here in there while also giving me space to be secluded in my own little world of nature. Also only being 15 mins away from the city of San Marcos was a definite plus. I can’t write everything good I wanna say but not one negative or complaint from my side everything about this place is amazing!

4 nights at Cozy Cactus Airstream with Hot Tub
We had the best time. Two adults (one over six feet tall) fit in here just fine. The bed was very comfortable, with lots of pillow preference options. The outdoor shower was stellar, with really nice shampoo and body wash products. The hot tub was awesome. Snacks and caffeinated beverages and water provided. All in all, a top stay.

Weekend Trip to Cozy Cactus Airstream with Hot Tub
Despite this fantastic little camper being in a backyard, I got all the peace and solitude I wanted. It's ridiculously close to some amazing restaurants, bars and a cute little park.
I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. The outdoor shower was HEAVEN. I absolutely enjoyed my time here.
*I'd like to note that the bed is not a twin. It looked like it in the pics but it's large and fantastic

We loved staying in the cozy cactus airstream! Adrienne has gone out of their way to update the airstream to fit modern comfort. The outdoor shower was our favorite amenity, nothing beats showing with the sun shining on you! The hot tub was an added bonus :)
