“Fritz’s land is such a wonderful experience. Just the drive to the cabin gave us a surreal overlanding feel with fun river crossings—perfect even for beginners. The kids loved every bit of the trip. While we chose the cabin for access to hot water and power, we all ended up tent camping and had an awesome time. The land, the people, and the animals were all amazing. We can’t wait to visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable getaway.

Fritz's LAF Ranch is a truly beautiful piece of Texas. We went there with our dog to have some solitude in nature and just enjoy the outdoors and our expectations were exceeded. The ranch feels like a place removed from time, as you are several miles off the paved road and surrounded by tall hills cut on the sides with dramatic sheer cliffs. We enjoyed hiking, swimming and all the traditional camping activities at the green cabin site, which has everything you need and nothing you don't. Fritz himself provided an outstanding stay with world class hospitality. We enjoyed the cheeseburgers that he made us, and he delivered a very generous portion of firewood to our site. The best part may have been the staggering amount of space we had access to and allowing our dog to run around free of any constraints. We hope to return to the Ranch one day soon!

1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. Another my brother likes that has a cypress tree submerged you can sit on he calls the 1000 waterfalls 3. big pond Please note all pictures taken on and of the ranch remain the property of the LAF ranch and are to be used for personal or promotional purposes only. The site sits near the junction of Bailey Creek and the South Llano River. The land is managed for bird watching and plant diversity and boast and astonishing variety of plant species. The Painted Bunting and the Black-throated Sparrow almost always available for view here. Hill Terrace Cabins One and Three began their existence as Depression era Girls Scout cabins. Humans have been on the site and estimated 7,000 years now and there is strong sense of peace and continuity in the land and waters here. An historical marker on site relates a famous shoot-out between The Texas Rangers and the infamous Potter gang. The wells are shallow, spring fed, and sweet with limestone, so bring your favorite tea or coffee. And a hat! The river is flowing well, but burn bans may be in effect.

We love camping, RVing, and the outdoors and wanted to give families the same adventure we have had in the Texas Hill Country with the comfort of home. Nestled in the Texas Hill Country is A Peace of Heaven. Come relax, swim, bird watch, hike, play volleyball, ping pong, build a fire and roast marshmallows. We offer catch-and-release fishing in our springs or go horseback riding nearby. Enjoy tubing down the Frio River in Concan. and don't forget to catch the Frio Bat Flight. We have 3 fully equipped log cabins that sleep up to 7 persons each. 2 separate bedrooms & a day bed in the living room.
