I loved that it is a smaller rv/campground. I travel in a Class B RV and the site was a good size with nice desert landscaping in between sites. Electric worked flawlessly and the pea gravel really keeps the dust down, it’s also a great location to Terlingua Ghost town and awesome views of the Chisos Mountains. Elena was great at communicating with me. I will back again some day and stay at Jo mommas!

I loved staying at Hobo Hacienda though It is a bit of a drive but it is totally worth it(no 4WD required). My group had what felt like the whole desert to ourselves and enjoyed some rare quiet and solitude that is hard to find in the NP this time of year. The night sky was amazing and the sunrise over the chisos mountains was unforgettable. Will definitely stay again

This was the perfect place for us! The ladies at the store were helpful and kind. We had an amazing time during our stay, seeing the stars with very little light pollution, enjoying a campfire, and the solitude. Our dogs loved being free, free to roam a bit as well. The location was perfect for checking out the neighboring town of Terlingua. We love art and spent the day exploring the different art studios. The next day we made the short drive a bit further to explore Big Bend National Park. If you like camping in more rural places and exploring off the beaten trail this place is absolutely perfect. It had the essentials, bathroom and water, well kept, without the crowds of traditional state park camping. We will definitely be back!

I had been researching Big Bend and Terlingua for months but I knew I didn’t want to be around people while camping. I wanted to be undeniably isolated and Hobo Hacienda was the perfect spot. Not a single neighbor or light or speck of noise as far as the senses could see. Highly recommend to those who understand the primal benefits of pure solitude on a moonless night and waking up with a silent mind.

We had such a blast out here, and it seems to be all we have been talking about the past couple days. We love primitive camping, but this was the most magical high desert campin' spot. We kept warm with the fire, and loved all the art, the land, and the whole setup and vibe. We want to come back again and hang out for a while and live like hobos at the hacienda. We took some photos that we'd love to share with the host somehow as well. Thanks a TON for the one night we had here, and I guarantee you it won't be our last!

Lots of space, workers always friendly RV sites Have water and electricity and it’s perfect! We moved from the front area site 11 to back area site 15 for more privacy away from traffic and site 15 is next to shade area/ picnic table that we were able to enjoy. They did have traffic from workers going to the stalls behind us but less than store customers traffic which was better. Highly recommend this area. No cell service here but they do have wifi access for guests if needed. We use our Starlink so can’t rate reception of the WiFi.

Me and my fiancé stayed for three nights at Hobo Hacienda and we absolutely loved it!
It’s very remote, quiet and located in a beautiful spot with scenic mountain views about an hour away from the main town in Terlingua. It’s also a perfect spot for stargazing.
On the site is a cozy half shed filled with all kinds of cool antique art, giving lots of personality to the place. There is also a big metal boxed filled with A LOT more supplies than we expected, including a grill, propane cans, fire starters, utensils, etc.
There is also a sink to the shed connected to a large plastic container full of water as well as a toilet and refillable shower.
It’s very easy to find the site and Google Maps will lead you right to it. However, the road to the site is quite rough and bumpy on the way there so I would highly recommend driving through it with a high clearance vehicle.
There is also some cell signal there but it’s only enough to send texts and streaming some music, which was good enough for us.
Mr. Jimmy was also a great host. He was very responsive and helpful. He even checked up on us and recommended some stores and restaurants in Terlingua to go to.
Overall we had a great experience and we definitely want to come back soon!

It's a very cool place. The road to get there is doable, but it's quite a ways down a rough road. If you're going to camp and planning on staying at camp for a while I would highly recommend it. It's a neat place with a great view and good privacy.
If you plan on being in and out of camp though it's not a smooth ride, so keep that in mind.
I'd go back.

With pets
We've stayed here twice and will likely be back. Total darkness. Better stargazing than we have experienced in Marfa, Alpine, Marathon, etc. The campsite is remote but there is a market about 15 minutes away off highway. Large flowing creek about a mile or so down the road.
