Anchorbase Retreat

4. Anchorbase Retreat

44mi from Midlothian · 1 site
Anchorbase Retreat is a quiet, low-density countryside camping experience located about one hour from Dallas / the DFW Metroplex. It’s close enough for an easy weekend escape, yet once you arrive, the setting feels distinctly rural—open land, fresh air, wide skies, and a slower pace of life. The retreat is hosted by a couple fondly called J & N, who grew up around rural farm life and big families that loved welcoming friends and travelers. After years of raising their kids in the city, returning to the countryside felt like coming home. Opening a small portion of the land for camping is their way of sharing the quiet, peace, and space they’ve always valued. Phase 1 offers a small number of semi-primitive glamping and camping sites, intentionally spaced for privacy and calm. This early phase focuses on a low-impact outdoor experience with thoughtful basics rather than resort-style amenities. Guests should expect a rustic stay designed for rest, simplicity, and connection with nature. Anchorbase Retreat sits on working agricultural land, and the surrounding countryside is part of the experience. You may see open pastures, wildlife, and hear natural country sounds. Some areas of the property offer views toward Cedar Creek Lake, making it a peaceful place to relax outdoors, enjoy sunsets, and stargaze. While the setting feels removed and quiet, the retreat is still conveniently located near local attractions and essentials, including King’s Creek Country Club, local restaurants and food spots, grocery stores, a nearby brewery, Zoofari, and Cedar Creek Lake recreation. Phase 1 is ideal for guests who enjoy nature, value quiet and privacy, and want to unplug without driving far from the city. Amenities will be added gradually in future phases, but this early stage is about starting small and enjoying the land as it is. Best suited for couples, solo travelers, and small groups seeking a calm, rustic countryside stay close to DFW.
