I spent 3 nights in the cozy cacti container with my dog and can't wait to return again. The cabin provides all of the comforts of home and the land surrounding the container home is absolutely gorgeous. The front porch is a perfect spot for bird watching and its an easy hike down to the water. If I were to create my own ideal getaway cabin, it would be just like this place. Its perfect!

This cabin was definitely cozy, but it fit our needs for a weekend away. The kitchen was good for making breakfast tacos, and the bed was very comfortable. The soaking tub was a great way to relax during the day. I’d definitely recommend it to any couples looking for a retreat.

The dome at North Star Cove was absolute perfection!! Our family (my husband & our 2 daughters) had an absolute blast and enjoyed getting away & immersing ourselves in nature! The fold out couch in the living room worked great for our 2 elementary aged kids. Plenty of linens and blankets and pillows. The bathroom and shower & kitchen were very nice! Air conditioners worked very well, and there’s a standing fan as well. We built a campfire, stargazed, played horseshoes, made s'mores, used the tree swing, and just had an AMAZING time together as a family! The outhouse bathroom was in great condition as well. The town of Llano was SO cute! We enjoyed the famous Cooper’s BBQ. The drive alone to North Star Cove was just simply gorgeous! We definitely want to return one day, and we highly recommend North Star Cove to anyone wanting to unplug and get away either as a couple or as a family!!! The Llano hill country is good for the soul!

This is our second time staying at Dos Rios. We always have a great time. The tent had everything it needed but was a little dirtier inside than what I expected after staying in the Jupe properties but nothing that would deter us from coming back. The host is super friendly and helpful. We love the proximity to the river and neighboring towns.

We enjoyed our stay in the big cabin. It fit our family of 7 and we had plenty of things to do! This place was perfect for kids, even toddlers. We felt safe the entire time and the property manager was there if we needed anything. We’ll definitely come back, but with friends!!!

2 nights at North Star Cove

We stayed at Tentrr 5B. Great camping site. The river nearby is awesome/clean water and good fishing. Very remote and was quiet at night. Campsites are very close together so not really private. Hosts are nice. The bed was comfortable. Downside is the public restrooms and showers are absolutely disgusting/dirty. It’s worse than a nasty truck stop. I would not advise anyone much less a woman use them. Overall, though it’s a good place with great river access but if you’re looking for somewhere that you have a little privacy this is not it as there are RV’s/campsites stacked right on top of each other and people are everywhere. If you don’t want that then you should go somewhere else. Also the James River Icehouse is right across the road from the campground and it’s excellent!! Great burgers and people there are super friendly!!

Weekend Trip to North Star Cove

my partner and I's trip to the north star cove dome was exceptional. Rather difficult to find the location at night so try your best to arrive during day time hours. Joel was an excellent communicator and provided us with a gorgeous, secluded, and serene space to unwind and enjoy each other in. Everything was very clean and cozy. Truly such a fun experience and easily accessible for folks in san antonio/austin! Would absolutely reccomend! P.S. I also left a sentimental teddy bear behind at the Dome and Joel was kind enough to ship him back to me! Very kind host.

Wow! We stayed in the Vineyard cabin and it was beautiful! The cabin had everything we needed. The bathrooms, kitchen, linens, everything was spotless. The hot tub overlooking the creek was such an amazing touch. We were even able to go see the ponies! I would highly recommend and will definitely be back!!

Beautiful private-feeling cabin with a private AMAZING hot tub and all the necessary essentials!! This was a pleasure of a getaway!!! And as a beautiful bonus, we were able to pet and connect with the free-roaming miniature horses!! 10/10!!

First time staying here and was a great experience! Campground is well maintained and so many cool accommodations. The cabins were clean and had everything we needed for our stay, beds were comfy and cozy. Camp hosts were accommodating. We were able to have our dog off leash (being respectful of others of course) which was a huge plus for us as we walked up and down the river. Site bathrooms were heated, another big plus especially if we were to come back and tent camp. Can’t wait to book in the summer and take advantage of the rental kayaks and canoes!

Joel’s land was gorgeous! We were able to see some wildlife, have a campfire, and most importantly for me.. get to watch all the stars. It was great to relax under the stars and get away from all the distractions of the world. It was truly a starry trance, and it was the best peaceful getaway anyone could ask for. The Ranch is our place we like to go when we need to get away. It's raw and it's nice land to camp, explore and enjoy wildlife. We have a Wildlife Exemption on the property and enjoy managing native song birds. We keep a constant flow of bird seed located in feeders around the ranch, and we have seen all kinds of birds making this a great place for birders. The ranch has nice elevation changes with a wet weather creek that traverses the property. There are some trails to hike or mountain bike. The cabin is rustic without plumbing or electricity, but we enjoy it and it's fun to think it's everything we would need. This is off-grid living all the way, and we are constantly learning new and better ways to do things. The cabin is located on the very first spot we pitched a tent after purchasing the land, and we continue to make improvements as we go. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
