Farther down the road is the famous Blue Bell creamery in Brenham. The tour and ice cream are well worth the trip. On the property are miles of Jeep trails excellent for off road and 4WD vehicles. Guests might prefer hiking along these trails or strike out on foot trails and game trails. Thanks to the hunters who have come for the deer and feral hogs over the years there are numerous observation structures for viewing wildlife up close, or just enjoying the solitude of the deep woods. The Morris Manor and Retreat

Our property is meant to be calming, fun and relaxing. Camping with class is what we like to say. We are constantly upgrading our areas and property to be safe and entertaining. Our pond is charming and the focal point of the camping adventure. We have a paddle boat and an electric john boat to toodle around in. Want to go fishing? The pond is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and perch. There is also a small island we call “Angel Island” that you can fish from or just sit on the deck with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view. There is a riding/walking trail that is approximately 0.7 miles in distance and basically encompasses the perimeter of the back area. Walking is common, bikes are welcome and small 4 wheelers are also welcome. No side by sides please. You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites. However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers. Come see us and enjoy time away from the fast paced city! You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree. You may also see some deer, rabbits, squirrels and even armadillos. We are rustic but classy. Time to get away and relax! This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. There is a store with a bar and grill next door where you can dance and sing karaoke. The Freedom Ranch Cafe down PR 57 has some of the best home-cooked meals around. Try their fried catfish for starters! Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)! If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste.
