We have always enjoyed camping, scuba diving and travel... anything outdoors. We made a promise that If ever given the chance to share that joy with others we would and make it a great experience. We searched and searched looked at a lot of properties North of the Woodlands, to build our home. On a Saturday morning, my husband told me about a dream of 3 very tall and Magnificent Trees, soaring way up in the sky. A few days later we were walking through the forest looking at a 20 acre tract of land for sale with our realtor, I'm thinking, "oh how would we ever get this cleared, this is a lot of work" Then, up ahead was a clearing and right in the middle were 3 of the tallest, most magnificent Cedar trees. They were perfectly planted standing side by side. We both looked at each other and said," Oh this must be it". The rest is history. The Morris Manor and Retreat

Our property is meant to be calming, fun and relaxing. Camping with class is what we like to say. We are constantly upgrading our areas and property to be safe and entertaining. Our pond is charming and the focal point of the camping adventure. We have a paddle boat and an electric john boat to toodle around in. Want to go fishing? The pond is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and perch. There is also a small island we call “Angel Island” that you can fish from or just sit on the deck with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view. There is a riding/walking trail that is approximately 0.7 miles in distance and basically encompasses the perimeter of the back area. Walking is common, bikes are welcome and small 4 wheelers are also welcome. No side by sides please. You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites. However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers. Come see us and enjoy time away from the fast paced city! You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree. You may also see some deer, rabbits, squirrels and even armadillos. We are rustic but classy. Time to get away and relax! The Navasota River Ranch

The Navasota River Ranch is a 600 ac parcel of land bounded by more than a mile of the Navasota River on its west side and two tributary creeks on its north and southeast sides. The river bottom is wild and untamed, while the rest is rolling hills reminiscent of the prairie that once greeted settlers. Nearby is Bryan-College Station home of Texas A&M University To the west on Hwy 105 is Washington on the Brazos State Park. This is the location where delegates gathered to hastily draw up a declaration of independence before joining the Runaway Scrape to avoid capture and execution by the advancing Mexican Army. Farther down the road is the famous Blue Bell creamery in Brenham. The tour and ice cream are well worth the trip. On the property are miles of Jeep trails excellent for off road and 4WD vehicles. Guests might prefer hiking along these trails or strike out on foot trails and game trails. Thanks to the hunters who have come for the deer and feral hogs over the years there are numerous observation structures for viewing wildlife up close, or just enjoying the solitude of the deep woods. Three ponds offer bass and perch fishing from the bank or bring your own boat. And then there is the Navasota River...

The Dam Spot

Welcome to The Dam Spot, named so for it's location close to the Lake Somerville dam and for the beaver dam on the property! It's right on highway TX-36 about halfway between Houston and Austin, close to Brenham and College Station, just south of Somerville, and within just a few minutes of Lake Somerville by car. Right now, our property is set up for primitive camping only. Bring all your own supplies. There are plenty of areas for you to pick from to set up camp. Don't forget to bring your boat, jet skis, or kayaks too so you can head out for a day on the lake! The road noise from the highway can be a bit annoying, but lively chatter with friends and family next to a crackling campfire drowns that out some. See if you can catch a glimpse of Buck working on his beaver dam near the southeast corner of the property, or explore along the creek to the natural tree root bridge to walk over to the other side of the creek. If you want to get away for a day trip, head south over to Brenham where you can tour the Blue Bell ice cream factory or go east to College Station to visit Texas A&M and catch a game at Kyle Field. Of course, Lake Somerville is just a few minutes away, so bring your boat, jet skis, or kayaks for a day out on the water. We recently purchased this property after "the year of which we do not speak" for our own family getaways close to the lake and we're super grateful for the opportunity to share it with you. Blue Lagoon Pond & Cabin

This cedar cabin was built in the late 1950's and was the first building in Birch Creek Subdivision and was used as the real estate office when selling land for Subdivision. There is a store with a bar and grill next door where you can dance and sing karaoke. The Freedom Ranch Cafe down PR 57 has some of the best home-cooked meals around. Try their fried catfish for starters! Joy Moore bought this fixer-upper in 1986 when the oilfield went under, at a youngster in her early twenties and has owned ever since. Lake Somerville is known for the best fishing lake in Texas. Deer run plentiful on the property and will come up close and personal when fed corn. So, stop and pick up a sack or two of deer corn before arrival. Deer Life

A lot of trees, with some open areas. There are a lot of deer if you are up early in the morning. Also, sandy trails for walking around to see the wildlife. There is a small tank that sometimes in fall and spring have migrating ducks. A larger pond for fishing has catfish. We have horses that you are allowed to pet and brush if you make arrangements with the owners of the ranch first. We sell farm fresh eggs. Campfires allowed if we're not in a burn ban. Plenty of wood around, but may have to bring something to chop up the larger pieces. You will need to provide your own toilet facilities. There is no water, no electric, no internet, poor phone service. If you don't have a 4WD, we can still get you to your camping spot.

If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas! Check for local events happening all around such as Aggie Football Games, Snook ChiliFest, Market Days on the Square in Caldwell and much, much more!
