on a 350 acre working cattle ranch with a quarter mile of river frontage!
The Comanche were quite active up and down this part of the Brazos when the earliest settlers arrived around 1850, until the Comanches' eventual conquest by the Texas Rangers and their Colt pistols around 1870; we have found lots of flint and some arrowheads on high places here. Going further back in history, the Fuller's Folly River Ranch has an abundance of petrified wood, they say that if you have fossilized sea shells you were under water, but if you have petrified wood you had land creatures. We had a wonderful stay at Friends in RV Spaces, definitelyexcellent value for money. Even though we were travelling in a campervan without hookups, the site had everything we needed. The facilities were clean and well maintained, and the WiFi near the little red building was fast and reliable. After spending time in the big cities of Texas, it was such a refreshing change to relax in a peaceful, green space with dark night skies and true country quiet.
Sam greeted us on arrival and was very welcoming. He showed us around the farm and was interesting to chat with. If you’re looking for a safe, quiet, and friendly place to stay near Fort Worth, we’d highly recommend it.

My family and I had a great weekend camping at site 15. Everything was clearly marked and well maintained. This site is pretty private although 14 is somewhat nearby. Also has a walking trail going through the back of it but no big deal.
Also had the pleasure of meeting Walt on our way to have brunch which was pretty cool.
Sherry was our waitress at the winery for brunch and she was exceptional, she also took the time to give us a lot of background on the ranch which was great. My family and I will definitely be back!

The host of the property was very nice, called to help me get to the property, even had offered brunch the next morning, this hospitality is extremely rare in my book, but that’s just the host, let me talk about the site, I chose original tent site 7, it was nice, had a tree in the center and somewhat tucked into the trees, gave just the right amount of a hideaway and open valley that I absolutely loved it. I absolutely love how the site was well maintained, this means not only do the campers have respect for the property, but the host does too. I would definitely consider coming back again. Maybe with a bigger tent because I managed to grab the smallest one I own. The property might be a bit out there, but the scenic drive is a win.

The whole property is great to get away from everything. It was our first time camping with a travel trailer and Top of dam was a great location. Plenty of room, great scenery. We rode bikes on all the trails and all the sites were secluded and roomy. It was cold and windy but we made the most of it. We are planning on returning with a bigger group to enjoy it again and utilize more of the amenities.

I loved fishing on Susan’s land. Beautiful day in late December, caught lots of fish. Spend the day kayaking around looking for the ultimate big bass. Finally, caught the big one right before I packed up. My two dogs had the best time running and swimming for hours. I was able to meet Susan and her husband, super nice people. I would highly recommend this place.

This was our third time camping at 4R, and it’s honestly becoming one of our favorite traditions. The campgrounds are always clean, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. My kids love exploring the area — hiking the trails, walking the hills, and finding new little spots each time we come.
Evenings are our favorite part. Sitting around the campfire, making s’mores, and playing games in the tent once the sun goes down always ends up being the highlight of the trip. It’s such a great mix of quiet, nature, and time together without distractions.
Every visit has been consistently great, and this one was no different. If you’re looking for an easy, kid-friendly camping spot with gorgeous views, space to explore, and a warm, relaxing atmosphere, 4R Ranch is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be back.
