Come stay in our sweet semi off grid cabin just between Austin and Marble Falls Tx. Near beautiful Lake Travis.
Upon arrival you can park in the flat dirt driveway in front of the boat. The trail up to the cabin begins right there.
There’s a short somewhat steep hike from the parking area by the road up to the cabin. Again the trail is steep and approximately 30 yards long. Keep this in mind because your belongings will have to be carried up the trail. If you have 4x4 you can drive up top closer to the cabin. This is a glamping experience and you will need sleeping pads, bags and pillows. We do not provide bedding. The cabin sleeps 4. 2 on the futon and 2 (preferably kids sized humans) up in the loft. There is electricity but no running water, so bring water. There a/c heat and a mini fridge/freezer. Also a sweet vintage hifi system with a good vinyl collection. It also had Bluetooth capability.
Turkey Bend recreation area on Lake Travis it’s just a couple of miles down the road. Marble Falls and Austin are both about the same distance away approximately 17 miles. Hidden Falls adventure Park is approximately 7 miles away. Lago Vista Texas is the closest city with restaurants and gas stations and grocery stores. This property is on a dirt road and light pollution in minimal so this is a great place to stargaze! The parking area is also dirt and somewhat uneven. We have installed very powerful window style AC units. In general, the AC unit can cool 15 degrees off of the outside temp. If the outdoor temp reaches 100 during the peak of the day, it might be 85 in your tent. At night a d in the morning, when the outside air temp cools to the low 70s, your tent can be very cool.
What’s the difference between our 4 tents?
At Talula Mesa we offer 4 glamping tents, each 100 to 300 ft apart for privacy, all with great views of the hill country. Three tents are large (Grand), and one is small (Mini). The 3 Grand tents are nearly identical, with slightly varying decor. The main difference is in the tents’ locations on our property and corresponding view.
- The Grand Aztec: Provides the most open view of the lake and hill country. Located central on the property near the main fire pit and common areas.
- The Grand Arrow: Also has a lake view, but with more trees, less open than the Grand Aztec. Located closer to the entrance of our property, farther from the common areas. Adirondack chairs and a hammock area is just out back (lakeside).
- The Grand Tesoro: Private hill country view across the properties ravine. Located closest to the bathhouse, very central on our property. Also near the common areas. A private chiminea fire area under a grove of trees is nearby.
The price for Grand tents is based on double or triple occupancy. A fourth guest is welcome for an additional fee ($50/nt), which you’ll see at booking.
The Mini Aztec: Located between the Grand Aztec and Grand Arrow tents, with a private view of the lake and hills, and a private chiminea area. For younger children (age 8+) who want to sleep in the mini tent, we recommend the Grand Arrow for the parents because the mini is within view of the Grand Arrow porch.
The Grand Tents have a maximum occupancy of 3 guests. We may allow for a fourth guest upon request for an additional fee ($50/nt).
Guest access
You'll have access to the entire 15 acres, including some walking/hiking trails. You cannot enter other guests' tents (without invitation, of course).

This was our second time booking and it won’t be our last. It’s the perfect spot for me, my husband, and our dogs. It felt secluded, clean, well-maintained, and exactly what we needed to recharge. We even spotted what I think were gazelles! I always love seeing the wildlife out here. Highly recommend this place!!

Group trip
The tent was perfect for our family of 4! We only stayed one night, so we didn't need much room. He offered an extra tent for the kids if we needed extra room (which we didn't). He had a heater and portable AC which was very helpful at night to sleep comfortably. Bed, cots, and sheets were sturdy and comfortable. We enjoyed the hammock and the grill. He provided firewood, and I also loved that there was heavy duty hose with a sprayer attachment close by for washing.
He met us at the site when we arrived and explained how everything worked. The composting toilet was on site, but the was a pretty good sized rip in the covering, so not very private. But he told us about the actual bathroom just a few minutes walk away, so that was nice to use. There's also very long walking trails in the back that my daughter loved! We found a few ponds and also a windmill.
Overall, I would recommend this spot for anyone who wants to enjoy a camping experience without all the setup. It was only 15 minutes away from an HEB, so grabbing dinner supplies was super convenient. We would definitely return!

Weekend Trip to Hill Country Glamping Photo Safari
The Hideout is a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of nature. Cozy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Everything is clean, modern and comfortable. A great spot for stargazing! The wildflowers were blooming and beautiful. The river access area is incredible but you definitely need a 4x4 to navigate the area. I highly recommend this place!

Loved this glamping spot. The tent was gorgeous and secluded. It was a quick drive to get to the river where we sat on the bank as our dog splashed around in the river. Lots of cool wildlife is here (be careful while driving, as some tend to run out of trees across the roads occasionally!)

This place was so great in every way - the deck was perfect for coffee, a cocktail, and a dip in the hot tub. Jessica was so responsive and helpful, the trail on the property was awesome and we explored all over. There was so much attention to detail here and it’s an outstanding place to stay. So eclectic. Still close to everything, but sitting on the deck was quiet and full of nature. Even enjoyed peeping some chicks with the chickens that were roaming around 🥰

Weekend Trip to Hi-Line Resort
Wonderful place run by wonderful people. Cabin was right on the edge of the lake and parking is right by the cabin. The location itself is pretty secluded which is nice but not too far from town to try the blueberry pancakes at The Dam Grill if a storm ruins your morning plans.

I enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay at HiLine Resort. Very pleasant lakeside cabin with great view of the lake. Nice picnic table seating lakeside with small charcoal grill. Pleasant restaurant and very friendly owners. Basic accommodations, not fancy but very adequate and clean.

When we arrived they met us at the entrance and guided us to our site then took time to explain the property and area. They had the tents set up how we requested for our largish group. Appreciated the high pressure hose for cleaning and the misting system through the trees to cool us down. Despite the noise of the rush of cars from the nearby road, the stars were bright and the space was ideal for our group with 2 young kids and a large dog.

We really enjoyed our stay. The car noise the others have commented about wasn't too bad. Loved the wild turkey sounds with the cows and the donkey. There was a lot of gun shots going off in the distance. Obviously they can't control that, but it went on till real late. Like after midnight.
