A quiet ranch in the Texas Hill Country, where the views go for miles and the fire's always ready. Sprague Ranch sits about 28 minutes from Lampasas — far enough out that the night sky actually looks like a night sky. You'll have access to the cabin, the trails, the pond, and the firepit. No crowds, no light pollution, no agenda. Just land, sky, and quiet. What's on the ranch: -Mesquite firepit with cooking swing-grate. Real wood-fired cooking over open flame. Mesquite is stocked and ready. There's a propane grill too if you'd rather keep it easy. -Hiking trails across the property. Wander north to the pond, walk the ridgelines, or just find a quiet spot and sit. The trails are yours. -A pond full of bluegill. Fishing is good year-round (catch and release). Bring your own gear. -Hill Country views in every direction. Sunrise on the porch, sunset over the hills, stars in between. -Dark skies. No city glow out here. Bring a blanket and look up. The cabin itself: Charming, warm, and built for actually relaxing. Two queen beds, one full, one twin — sleeps up to 7. Cozy interiors with that real cabin feel. Starlink WiFi if you need it, total disconnection if you don't. Best for: -Stargazers and astrophotographers — the skies out here are unreal -Families wanting kids to see real country -Couples looking for a quiet weekend with a proper fire -Anglers, hikers, and anyone who'd rather hear crickets than traffic A few honest notes about ranch life: -We're on a rainwater collection system — please be mindful with water. Out here, every drop counts. -Septic system — please use only the provided toilet paper. -No smoking on the property. Texas is dry and a neighbor's welder once started a 600-acre fire that took a week to put out. We take this seriously. -No firearms. Liability rules, even out here. -Our neighbor's German Shepherd, Tucker, sometimes wanders over to say hi. He's friendly and listens well if you'd rather he head home. -Drinking water comes from the filtered pitcher in the fridge. -Closest town for groceries is Lampasas (~28 min) — stock up before you arrive. Come for the fire, stay for the stars. — JoshSprague Ranch sits about 28 minutes from Lampasas — far enough out that the night sky actually looks like a night sky.
