This Tipi resort in New Braunfels, TX offers eight cabins at on a glamping campsite in Texas. From the outside, they look like real Tipis and the interiors are a comfortable and modern cabin with sleeping for up to 6 guests! Each is fully furnished and air-conditioned. They all have a kitchenette with a sink, a small dorm-sized fridge, a 2 burner stove, and a large toaster oven. Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare.
The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable.
We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm.
We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025.
If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

-"The Bunkhouse" is still comfortable with a King Size bed (we can also convert to 2 singles if needed). This unit has a seperate living space with a mini-fridge and microwave, but no bathroom in the unit. We have an outdoor shower and poolside bathroom for use.
-We also have 2 campsites on the open space for tent setup and camping under the stars. (no outdoor fires allowed) Access to the outdoor shower and pool bathroom.
-The pool area is a shared space during your stay.
Our property is mostly wooded, so please don’t be surprised by the occasional critters.

The water level in photos are accurate. The water level has dropped 12 feet since March 2023, to rebuild the dam that created our lake. There is a certain flow requirement downstream from our property, so we maintain a minimum flow and consistent level/depth regardless of rainfall.
Depth varies from 4 feet at our stairs to 10+ feet in the middle of the channel. Additionally, there's no boat traffic, so it's ideal for kayaking and fishing year round.
Water flow slows in warmer seasons, and plumes of button moss intermittently float up from the bottom, collecting at water's edge. We still swim among the button moss, but it may not be ideal for some. Unfortunately, there's no way to predict when it will emerge and how long it stays.

This Tipi resort in New Braunfels, TX offers eight cabins at on a glamping campsite in Texas. From the outside, they look like real Tipis and the interiors are a comfortable and modern cabin with sleeping for up to 6 guests! Each is fully furnished and air-conditioned. They all have a kitchenette with a sink, a small dorm-sized fridge, a 2 burner stove, and a large toaster oven. Heavily wooded acreage with goats, horses and donkeys. There is no light pollution and if there are no clouds you can see the stars very clearly. We have a ton of wild birds. Owls and Cara Cara are common. There are deer, feral hog and two resident packs of coyote. We also have ring tail cats, which are nocturnal and rare.
The best seasons are October 1st thru the end of April. It gets VERY hot and dry in the summer and can just be miserable.
We have a shared bathroom and an outdoor shower and tub. If you are a single woman or a family with children, we don't take other bookings while you are visiting the farm. You will have the place to yourselves. The only exception being my family and I, if we are working or staying over at the farm.
We should have a second bunkhouse up and running by fall of 2025.
If you are tent camping, you may camp anywhere on the property but there are certain spaces that may make curious horses your roomies.

-"The Bunkhouse" is still comfortable with a King Size bed (we can also convert to 2 singles if needed). This unit has a seperate living space with a mini-fridge and microwave, but no bathroom in the unit. We have an outdoor shower and poolside bathroom for use.
-We also have 2 campsites on the open space for tent setup and camping under the stars. (no outdoor fires allowed) Access to the outdoor shower and pool bathroom.
-The pool area is a shared space during your stay.
Our property is mostly wooded, so please don’t be surprised by the occasional critters.

The water level in photos are accurate. The water level has dropped 12 feet since March 2023, to rebuild the dam that created our lake. There is a certain flow requirement downstream from our property, so we maintain a minimum flow and consistent level/depth regardless of rainfall.
Depth varies from 4 feet at our stairs to 10+ feet in the middle of the channel. Additionally, there's no boat traffic, so it's ideal for kayaking and fishing year round.
Water flow slows in warmer seasons, and plumes of button moss intermittently float up from the bottom, collecting at water's edge. We still swim among the button moss, but it may not be ideal for some. Unfortunately, there's no way to predict when it will emerge and how long it stays.

1 night at Sparrow Bend River Retreat
We loved staying at the Scamp! It’s so adorable and it was equip with everything we could have needed. The host provided very detailed directions and there are labels all over making it easy to find things.
The little porch built off of it is a perfect place to view the stars and the beautiful river. There are many birds, deer, and we even had an armadillo walk right by. The dogs around the area can be pretty vocal, but inside the camper we barley heard them.
Would definitely come and stay again! Thank you Angela!!

The host was wonderful to work with. They responded quickly, were clear about their usual policies, and made an exception to help us out. Their flexibility and communication made our stay start off smoothly, and we really appreciated the extra effort. Highly recommend.

2 nights at HomeAway Ranch & Wildlife Preserve
I stayed in the Lindavista Cabin and the pictures don't do it justice. The inside of the cabin is completely styled in luxury country chic. You'll find a giant LCD television in the living area, stainless steel appliances, lcd-enabled mirrors in the two full bathrooms with wraparound glass showers (one on each floor), a huge two-person jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom upstairs, remote controlled air conditioners and fans on each floor, a private balcony off of the master bathroom, and a fully enclosed sunroom off the master bedroom that could also be used as an additional bedroom for more guests. Even the kitchen faucet has an LED light that shines from the water to let you know whether the water is hot or cold. There's a comfortable little porch at the door of the cabin, and I was visited by an entire group of 9 or 10 adorable goats a couple of times each day! The cabins on this property are spaced pretty close together, but the owners did an excellent job of arranging them so that the cabins do not directly look into each other, a relief since there are no curtains in any of the many windows of this cabin. There was a small hiccup on check-in time (Hipcamp said 2pm but the owners told me 3pm not long before I arrived), but otherwise I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing, peaceful, and luxurious stay.

We had a wonderful stay in Marlena’s airstream! It was so peaceful and quiet and even more private than we anticipated. The airstream is very cozy and quaint and it was the perfect nature getaway we needed. Highly recommend!!

2 nights at Sparrow Bend River Retreat
My fiance and I enjoyed our two night stay at the Scamp! The Scamp is located on a beautiful camping resort on the Medina River!
The Scamp is tucked away underneath Juniper trees away from the other campers and we enjoyed the privacy. The Scamp had everything we needed for cooking, dish washing, and coffee in the morning.
The Scamp was clean and comfortable for the two of us. The outdoor refrigerator could have been cleaner and the outdoor furniture appeared to be dog friendly, but this didn’t lessen the enjoyment of our stay.
Restroom and shower facilities are a very short walk from the scamp and were clean.
Short walk down to the beautiful Medina River where we enjoyed a float on our SUP and a swim in the crystal clesr water. You can rent tubes and kayaks if needed.
Firewood was available to purchase conveniently on Cash app or Venmo, however we did camp during a Red Flag warning so we couldn’t have a camp fire. (County order and not Sparrow Bend Resort rule)
Charcoal grill and charcoal provided for grilling and propane stove in the Scamp.
We would highly recommend The Scamp for a couples getaway!

Amazing setup! Camper had all we needed to be comfortable. The site was spacious and visual seclusion from the owner’s property. Expansive firepit, hammock, twinkle lights and two picnic tables. Our family of 3 had a great time- there was a small bunk bed perfect for our daughter while we enjoyed the main bed. Would recommend!

Weekend Trip to The Juniper Ranch & Retreat
The host is very nice and willing to help and lend information whenever necessary. Very nice get away from the rest of the world, you might be lucky to see some deer on our path like we did. Fire pit, grill, kitchenette, wifi, hot tub are good bonuses. We already want to come back!

I absolutely loved this camper! Private location, very well stocked, and the little deck with the comfy furniture was perfect first thing in the morning. I have watched deer while sipping coffee, lazed on the couch under the umbrella enjoying a nice breeze, and cooled my feet in the river in the late morning. It was the relaxation I needed with just the right amount of space.
Alright TLDR is over so here is the breakdown.
Pros:
~VERY WELL STOCKED for the most part (dishes, tea pots, towels, washcloths, even a outside sink for room to wash dishes, ect.)
~ gas stove (just remember to turn it on)
~ fantastic distance from the river
~ beautiful views (especially nighttime for stargazing)
~ Comfy furniture! Legit wanted to nap outside in good breeze.
~ Privacy! I could only see one cabin unless I went to the main camp grounds.
~ Public area's are also well stocked and taken care of
Cons:
~Only one pot to cook on. There was a griddle as well but I didn't test it. Absolutely would have grilled outside if there wasn't a burn ban.
~ The path to the restrooms wasn't well lit but you're out in nature get a headlamp.
~ One of the showers uses the hooked latch that kept slipping if the door was bumped. There was twine to help hold it in place but please someone get that fixed with a more secure latch.

Weekend Trip to Sparrow Bend River Retreat
We had such a lovely stay! The campsite had everything we needed — cookware, fridge, clean showers and bathrooms, and beautiful views all around. We arrived late at night during a storm, so a small light or sign would’ve made finding our way easier, and a wagon for our gear was not available as mentioned. Not taking any points off though — it’s a great, family and dog-friendly spot, and we can’t wait to come back for a longer stay with our dog next time!

This was an awesome experience for our young grandchildren. They learned so much about the animals and loved their first ever horse ride. There was a nice playground, hills and rocks. Things we don’t have at home. I would definitely do it again.

It was a quiet and pleasant stay. We stayed in the 2 person bunkhouse which was very cozy. The farm had some very friendly horses, goats and donkeys that we could feed treats to.
The kitchen in the farmhouse was also well stocked with utensils, coffee, and seasonings.
The pool was very refreshing in the hot sun.
The host was also extremely helpful in calling us and providing all details and responding to our texts during the stay.
