It also was the camping site for laborers building the Old Train Tunnel that now houses millions of Mexican Free Tailed Bats. Sitting on the edge of the valley, you can watch the beautiful Sunsets and watch the bats emerge! We had a great time camping here - Janine and Juan are amazing hosts and we loved chatting with them. Our dog had a blast running around with Rocky too!! The view is even better in person and there’s lots to do in the area. Definitely get a burger at the Alamo Springs Cafe down the street and check out Old Tunnel State Park (both are walking distance away). We’ll be back!!

We stayed in the garden shed on a night when some big storms rolled through. Some issues arose, but we had a conversation about it and the hosts were very responsive. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Proximity to the Alamo Springs Cafe is a nice benefit!

This place is great. It's within walking distance to the cafe, which has great food, and the state park. We picked the campsite with the privacy fence. The view off the back of the site was definitely a looker. The hosts informed us that you can see the bats leave the cave at the state park, but we already had tickets to the bat viewing. The best part of the entire campsite was actually the view of the stars. There is pretty much zero ambient light out there, and you can see the Milky Way!!!! This was by far my favorite part! I camped in a hammock and had zero issues with bugs (it's October, and the temperature dropped to 51°, so take that with a grain of salt). Every site apparently has poles for hanging hammocks, which was perfect for me. I definitely recommend this place! If you're lucky, Rocky the mutt will Come visit you! He's so soft and friendly 😍😍

Awesome, family-friendly stay! All the creature comforts you need (plus even more than we are used to- a warm shower, towels and bedding provided, a well-stocked kitchen!) Campground is a short walk to the beautiful Guadalupe River! We had 7 kids across 3 tipis and everyone had a blast! The kids could roam safely around the campground games and grassy area while we cooked and relaxed. We can’t wait to go back!

I love the surrounding area, feels like you’re in the middle of no where. The trailer has everything we needed. We just wished that the hot water worked a little better since we love hot showers. Ace was very nice and responsive. We would definitely come back for the fire pit.
