No frills car camping, highly recommended! Johnâs land is beautiful and has many sites to choose from with flat places for tents, fire ring, tables and chairs. John is friendly and so are his dogs. Heâs done a lot of DIY projects like an outdoor shower, bucket flush toilet, disc golf holes (bring your own discs) and has a few campers, a dump truck and other equipment on site that might not feel like pure nature but it didnât bother me. If you want a true âpristine natural areaâ look elsewhere but for weekend car campers itâs a great place. Firewood available on site. 15 mins from downtown.

John was an amazing host and a great guy! This was my first time solo camping as a college student and he went above and beyond with making me feel welcomed on his beautiful property. From the extensive care he puts into this place to his friendly demeanor he was one of the best hosts Iâve ever had ! All the sites he offered were well maintained and you could tell he truly cared for preserving the nature here. He went as far as to check on me here in there while also giving me space to be secluded in my own little world of nature. Also only being 15 mins away from the city of San Marcos was a definite plus. I canât write everything good I wanna say but not one negative or complaint from my side everything about this place is amazing!

3 nights at Twisted Oaks...
We had such a great stay! John was extremely helpful during our time on this beautiful property, and so were his two sweet dogs who came to say hello! Such a peaceful and quiet spot to spend a long weekend at. Highly recommend staying here! Thank you so much John!

Weekend Trip to Riverfront Vintage Argosy
We had a great stay at Julia's vintage Argosy trailer! Host was very communicative & responsive, the land & river are beautiful, and the trailer is just so cute & cozy (and comfortably slept 3 adults). We walked down to the general store to buy some firewood - if we've had more time, we would have stayed to enjoy the live music (not audible from the trailer location; we still had a peaceful night with our fire under the stars) and food trailer. This spot was great, we'll definitely keep it in mind for future trips :)

Twisted x brewing is literally right next door; it was great to hop over there for a few beers then walk 20 yards back to our RV spot.
We didn't really explore the ranch much (it was right before Christmas) but the grounds and RV spots were nice!
