2 nights at The Retreat @ Borah Farm

We enjoyed the peaceful and quietness of the pond site. the vast property is a great place to walk and explore. We foraged for wild Blackberry's for a tasty cobbler. The horses on the property are friendly and a very nice addition. Our miniature schnauzer and we enjoyed getting acquainted with the horses and they followed us around while we foraged and explored the property. We will be back!

Best campsite I’ve found! Llamas are really sweet and the site is well taken care of. There are dogs/cats that roam the property, so make sure you don’t leave any trash out. Great site, easy check in.

Had a great time! The animals are adorable! The trails are fantastic full of berries to pick! Hosts were very accommodating and gave us a tour! We will definitely be back. The house dogs were the best part for us. They treat you like family!

Weekend Trip to Llama Land Ranch

Our small Girl Scout troop really enjoyed a laid back first time tent camping experience here at Llamaland Ranch. We opted for the pavilion site so we had access to running water, electric outlets, a really nice grill, and a small mini fridge. It was the perfect set up and for an experienced camper like myself it really felt like glamping. Judy and her son were very helpful and friendly. They provided plenty of feed for us to feed the Llamas and we didn't have any issues with them. The llamas were very gentle and curious. They came and went several times during our stay to visit us and other people in the other campsites. It was a beautiful place and I plan to come back out with family and friends in the future!

We tent camped at Wayne’s Land and had an absolute blast. Beautiful views of the lake, great amenities in the kayaks and swimming dock. There are definitely alligators in the waters, but nothing really bothered us the whole time we were there. Only downside, I would say, is that the fire pit doesn’t have a grill, so you have to get creative with any cooking.

I thoroughly enjoyed camping in my RV in site 1. Being surrounded by woods and the countryside location, allowed me to recharge through nature. The hosts even fixed me up with kindling in the fire pit so I could enjoy a campfire at night. What a thoughtful touch!

We had an absolute blast at Llama land! Site 1 was perfect for our littles, we had full access to the llamas but a nice fence to keep kiddos and animals separate. Lots of friendly cats and dogs on property, which the kiddos also loved. The pond was a hit for fishing, bathrooms were as clean as you'd expect for a campsite maybe even cleaner than I expected, and the property was gorgeous. Judy was one of the friendliest and most helpful property owners I've dealt with, and you can tell her and her crew love what they do. We will absolutely be back!

Very hospitable hosts. Clean sites, well maintained. A couple of upgrades would be welcomed. Possibly a different latch on the outhouse. The lock would occasionally get stuck while inside. And also maybe a solar powered light. Solar panel on the roof and light on the ceiling that’s motion activated. Gaming shed was cool. Maybe add a basketball hoop. Next time will check out one of the vacation rentals. They looked really nice.

Judy was a very accommodating host. We got in pretty late and she showed us around our campsite. The land was very green and well kept and the trees were massive. The campsites were very well set up very nicely with swings, fire pits, and rocking chairs. The dog and cats roaming around were super friendly. The llamas were pretty cool and they love the food. You have to bribe them with food to get them interact with you though, but they are very chill. The bathroom was very clean and nice and had running water. I wish I could’ve found the creek but I couldn’t find the trail to it. Overall great experience!

My second time out to the location. Grass was a little longer this time but it didn't take away from my ability to setup camp, make a good meal, and relax enjoying the outdoors. Though every place in Texas has them, I didn't run into any ant hills where I setup.

The host is outstanding and you have the option to camp right with the llamas or in one of serveral spots fenced off while still allowing you to feed them if you choose. I stayed at site 5, that had plenty of amenities and space for my camp setup.

We keep well landscaped. Our pond is fully stockedwith catfish, bass and brim. There is also a secluded boat ramp less than a mile from us that connects directly to cedar creek lake. We are also a short 5.4 miles away from the legendary Kemp Calaboose where Bonnie Parker, from the infamous Bonnie and Clyde, was jailed after robbing a local store in Mabank. The car got stuck in the mud while trying to flee, resulting in the theft of three cars and two mules before Bonnie and their accomplice were captured and jailed until Clyde broke them out!! The last 7 acres is a pathway heavily treed on both sides you may explore or ride 4 wheeler golf carts. We have a burn pit with seating that's being turned into a fire pit for bonfires and were happy to build a bonfire when requested! We are continuing to build on the property will soon add a shower and bathroom option not available yet. We do have a 1120 sq ft pavilion that's getting decorative touches now. It has tables/benches and several games. The pavilion itself is also available to rent for events if you're interested. We get wildlife from birds to frongs turtles and deer we do not promote or allow deer hunting on our property. Very beautiful flowers trees garden. Water feature in the making. The neighbors have livestock that visit the fence line daily. They also have fresh eggs for sale upon request. We have a seasonal garden that may be available depending on the time of years. We get lots of wildlife! A group of 12-15 deer visit daily we feedthem like pets, so we choose not to hunt them. We alsohave cranes, hawks, turtles, red billed ducks and several other type of wildlife , as our land backs up to a nature preserve. . We do warn about the occasional snakes, spiders and scorpions as we are in the country. We'll do all we can to accommodate wants and needs to make it the most memorable stay, all you have to do is ask!!!

Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe. There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know? Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids. About the Bees Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away. Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies. Verizon, ATT users have cell coverage here, no signal for T-Mobile users. LGBTQ+ friendly.

Originally, the circuit judge would convene on the first Monday of each month, attracting locals who came to conduct business, stock their pantries, and witness court proceedings, including the occasional hanging. One notable case involved a man executed for stealing a wagon of goods, and he is buried facing south in Hillcrest Cemetery, near the First Monday grounds. As the event grew, vendors began bringing their own goods, produce, and livestock to sell or trade, creating a vibrant marketplace just off the west side of the courthouse square. The trading of wild horses, rounded up from the surrounding region, became a significant part of the local economy and culture. By 1965, the First Monday Trade Days had outgrown its original location in the Town Square, prompting the City of Canton to purchase six acres just two blocks north of the courthouse to accommodate the expanding event. While it initially took place only on the first Monday of each month, the event has since transformed into a four-day extravaganza, running from Thursday to Sunday.
