Our grandparents moved to the farm on Little Crow Creek on September 27, 1927 from up in Sinking Cove. They had six children with our dad, Charlie Jr., being one of them. Charlie Stubblefield Sr. was a very interesting man with a wide curiosity in just about anything that had to do with history, Indian artifacts, Civil War, fossils, oral history, religion and more. Therefore, the small museum on the property next to the pavilion is dedicated to our grandfather. Charlie Sr. and our grandmother served as Justices of the Peace for over 30 years. Further, our grandmother was the backbone of the family, and was a gracious lady with a special personality to handle the rigors of the day; we miss them both very much. The area has many interesting stories and legacies of characters of yesterday and today. We had talked about moving to the woods for years, but finally decided to turn our dreams into reality. After hiking through what felt like every property for sale over 100 acres in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we finally found the perfect spot. Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name. We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley. Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. We only stayed one night at the tent but loved every minute! Grant called before we arrived to give us directions to the site so we would be prepared when we arrived in the dark. Everything was easy to find, just as he said. The trampoline was more comfortable than we expected! Bring extra towels in case of condensation. The area under the trampoline was perfect for food prep and hanging out. Above all, the waterfall was BEAUTIFUL! The short “hike” from the tent to the falls was easy for us and our German Shepherd to navigate. We had a wonderful time- can’t wait to return!

Loved our time at Solace Farm! A very peaceful property with a wonderful agricultural operation going on. You can tell the family pours their hearts into what they do! We booked a "Junior Farm Tour" and enjoyed our time walking around the farm with the kids as we learned about the animals, gardens, etc. The Meadow Site has a great sunset view - secluded and peaceful!

Big Mouth is my favorite campground! Chris, the owner makes you feel so welcome. He’s so accommodating. He’s always around to make sure everyone is safe. The place is beautiful, with rolling hills all around your flat camper camping space. I drive a 22’ Sprinter. I got to use the electric hook ups for the first time! There’s plenty’s of non electric spots where you can stay and save a little money too! Or go booshy and stay in a tiny tiny cabin with heat and AC. There’s a nice bathhouse where you can also buy ice. There’s two suites above the bathhouse with their own showers and kitchenettes! The suites are very nice! My friend stayed in one this weekend and I stayed right outside in my camper. Our other friends stayed in a tent beside me. 3 different ways of staying all within 20 feet of each other with a campfire and chairs between us. Or get a whole bigger cabin to yourself! Did I mention Chris is a wonderful host? The caverns is great too! Everyone here is so nice. Be sure to pack out what you pack in and go a step further and pick up any trash you may see. I’ve maybe picked up the smallest of pieces walking to and from the caverns. There’s a nice lit path from Big Mouth to the caverns. Give yourself 15 minutes for the walk. There’s security at every gate. They are very nice and keep us safe. Or there’s shuttles, just call chris to ask about what the best shuttle service is that weekend. LOVED this campsite! As soon as we showed up we added another night lol We have been on the road for about 2 weeks and it was one of my favorite stops. We’re traveling in a 23ft converted school bus and had zero problems finding the property and picking a spot. The property is beautiful and comes with some great amenities including water fill up :) would for sure stay again!

This space was absolutely perfect for hosting my friends and I for tent camping! The ability to put food in their fridge was big help. The site is close to beautiful waterfall hiking trails (less than 10 minutes away from trailheads) so we didn't have to go far to enjoy nature. The port-a-potty/shower facilities are nothing fancy but available and for a night, were perfectly sufficient. Would recommend and utilize again!

My dog and I stayed in our camper at this campground. It was a perfect location within walking distance of the Caverns venue. The power hook-up for the camper was great, and the bathrooms had clean, warm water for showers. Couldn't have asked for much more!

Off the beaten path and just a few miles from the state park. Open field area, we had our pick of any site with a fire ring. We enjoyed a fire each night and were present for the Beaver Moon. Outdoor shower with hot water was appreciated after we used up all our fresh water.

A charming little cabin on a beautiful property! I stayed here with my three dogs, and they loved having the space to roam freely. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and the modern bathroom was a nice touch. Both the main room and the bathroom have their own window unit. Keith was wonderful to chat with, a friendly and welcoming host.

This campsite was a peaceful gem tucked around a quiet pond, offering a great sense of privacy with only a few neighboring sites. The gravel pad was flat and dry, making setup easy and comfortable. Having firewood available was super convenient—though it was a bit damp from being stored under a tarp, it still saved the hassle of bringing our own. The outhouse was impressively clean, but the door could use a little adjustment since it only opened a quarter turn. The host Randy was responsive and helpful throughout our stay, which made everything run smoothly. The real highlight was the fishing! The pond was full of life, and I caught a massive 20" largemouth bass—definitely a memorable moment. I released it so someone else can enjoy the thrill too. Whether you're here to relax, fish, or just enjoy a quiet night under the stars, this site delivers. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a laid-back, nature-filled escape.
