We love the window-covered walls! It's like being in a tree house... on the ground:) Outside is an acre of flat, wooded, and grassy yard for exploring plus a fire pit and plenty of seating. We leave you all of the things you need for a great fire!! There is a chance that guests will be staying next door at the antique cabin while you occupy the tiny house. On the other side of the cabin, there is a family favorite guaranteed-catch trout farm - but, occasionally, you may smell the fish!
The space
Our tiny house is one 528 sf open room with a fully-equipped kitchen, table for four, and bar for two. In the living area, there is a sectional sofa for reading, watching Roku TV or movies, or playing board games. For sleeping, there is a built-in king-sized bed and a single bed (both are super comfy). There is also a full private bathroom with a shower accessible from the living area. The tiny house is also equipped with great Wifi. Our property is treated but since it's in the woods there is a chance you could see a bug or two!
Guest access
Guests can find this property easily off the main road. The lot is flat so even in the wintertime, there should be no problems accessing the property.
You will have access to this entire property including all amenities with the exception of a log cabin that’s located 35 yards to the right of the cabin. This is rented out separately so there’s a chance you may bump into some of our other guests but don’t worry, there’s plenty of space for everyone! If you’d like to rent out this second space to accommodate larger groups, let us know.
Other things to note
Our cabin and tiny house are centrally located to just about everything in the area. The following towns or communities are just a 10-minute drive: Banner Elk, Valle Crucis and Boone. There is great access to fishing on the Watauga River, hiking and views of Grandfather Mountain, zip-lining and snow tubing at Seven Devils, skiing at Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain or Appalachian Ski Mountain. A full-service grocery store is only five minutes away. Also within a five-minute drive are restaurants, bars, coffee shop, day spa, hair salon, vineyard, hiking trails, park and playground, Watauga River fly-fishing and a guaranteed-catch trout farm. Due to Hurricane Helene, we’ve made some changes. Our main buildings, including the lobby and dining area, were lost, so check-in and check-out are now self-service. For questions, visit our onsite Food Trailer, which serves breakfast and dinner from the Two Guys and a Taco trailer, offering both tacos and the Alpine Inn menu all day from 7am to 7pm unless business is too slow.
With no lobby or reception desk, online reservations are encouraged. We appreciate your patience as we rebuild and continue providing a peaceful retreat between Asheville and Boone, perfect for exploring Mount Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, and more.
We have a large covered picnic table, gas grill, charcoal grill, swing, and chairs, all available for guests to use at no extra charge. On many nights, we start a fire in our propane firepit and invite everyone to join us. It usually starts at dusk and ends around 10:30pm. There’s a comfortable cushioned swing and chairs. It’s a great place to sit and enjoy an evening fire in the mountains.
Inside the guest lounge, there’s a television with wifi reception, games, books, and a telescope. There’s also a Crane Combo vending machine with many snack options including an assortment of cold drinks. You will also find your coffee fix in the mornings with the airpot coffee dispenser free of charge.

Fantastic location with an incredible view of the mountains, like camping but with all the modern comforts you’d need. Excellent kitchen and eating area, huge deck to sit outside on and a very nice bathroom. We did 3 days here and did not see one other person or car drive by - this place is PRIVATE. Great location as it’s close to Linville Gorge, caverns, Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway you name it.
