When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling.
Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood.
You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7.
Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more.
Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. Many people write that they’ve learned an enormous amount about themselves, about homesteading or permaculture, and about alternate ways of being.

We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin.
When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there.

When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling.
Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood.
You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7.
Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more.
Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin.
When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there.

We had a wonderful time staying at Private Glamping w/ Outdoor Shower at Private Glamper/HOT TUB/MNTN VIEWS. Our hosts were so kind and thoughtful, and the setup was excellent and had everything one needs for a very comfortable and memorable glamping experience. The hot tub was definitely a highlight for us. Despite a sudden cold front coming in, the camper was always at a comfortable temperature and we never felt cold at night, even with outside temperatures dropping below freezing. Thank you again to our generous hosts for a great stay in this little oasis in Bryson City. We look forward to visiting again.

The view is the star of the show. Add a hot tub and fire pit and that’s a bonus. Inside is very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen setup was adequate. It could use a toaster/counter top convection oven. The grill outside worked well however. Also the fridge was a good size for the 4 nights we stayed. Google maps ends short of your destination so getting there was a bit confusing. We were lucky Ravi was on sight to escort us. Hopefully better signage will be added. The road is a bit rough but manageable for the last 1/4 mile or so. Again, once there, it’s all about the view and the isolation. Shower was roomy and nice. The bed was huge and comfy. The geo-domes were close but it all felt private enough and our neighbors were quiet. It’s close to the Smokies which was our draw but not much else. Fine by us as we didn’t even leave the premises for a day and a half. Did I mention the view?

This place is absolutely beautiful. Waking up to a sunrise over Appalachia is worth it on its own. The dome is well maintained, clean, and the area is super quiet and safe. It's an amazing place to relax in the hot tub and stargaze, play some games at the outdoor table, or just sit by the fire pit to talk and enjoy the scenery. There are two fire pits - a private metal one on the deck and a large communal area between the domes. There's also hiking and walking trails a short drive away in the Smokies (like Mouse Creek Falls).
Ravi is super friendly and responsive to messages. We met him on our way out when he came up to do maintenance. He takes good care of this place.
There are a few turns that are hard to see, so definitely arrive when it's daylight. If you use Waze, keep going up and around after it thinks you've "arrived".

Weekend Trip to Private Glamper/HOT TUB/MNTN VIEWS
Picture this: Wake up in your cozy camper (very clean and comfortable bed) and hop in the hot tub (extra towels included), take a hot outdoor shower surrounded by fall leaves and head down into Bryson City for some coffee and breakfast. After that, spend the day hiking in the Smokeys, come back into town to explore some shops and breweries, then head back to your cozy trailer for a fire and to soak some more in the hot tub.
That was our exact experience- even though it was about 50 degrees and raining by the evening, that actually made everything even more fun, hot tub included.
This site is so unique, convenient, and well designed. You can tell the host takes pride in making it a perfect stay for everyone, with attention to detail (like putting out a Halloween themed basket with Kurig pods). She even refunded money for firewood we didn’t use.
One note: the hot tub was set at 95 when we arrived, and after a few hours was only 97 even though we set it to 104. It took overnight to get up to temperature, but after that it stayed hot and we got plenty of use out of it.

We loved this awesome cozy trailer. Everything was super clean and well laid out. Lots of thoughtful notes around the camper explaining various things about the camper. The hot tub was nice and hot and also very clean. Same goes for the outdoor shower. This was a delightful private retreat that we would come back to anytime!

We loved our stay at Contrast Cove! This was our anniversary getaway, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The views were absolutely stunning — especially from the private deck where we could just relax and soak in the beauty of the mountains. At night, it was peaceful and quiet, with nothing but the sounds of nature around us and the stars in the sky.
The dome itself was incredible. The bed was massive and super soft, and the whole space stayed cool — which was a lifesaver on a hot summer day. Every amenity worked flawlessly: the sink, shower, toilet, and air conditioning were all clean and functional. The bathroom was also well-stocked and well-maintained.
While the hot tub didn’t get very hot (more lukewarm than anything), everything else made up for that tenfold. Honestly, we’d give the experience a 10 out of 10 — and would absolutely come back in the future.
Special thanks to Ravi, who was an amazing host. He made us feel safe, welcome, and taken care of the whole time.
🌙 Pro Tip: Do not try to arrive at night. The road up the mountain is pitch black with no guard rails — definitely better to get there during daylight for a safer trip.

5 nights at Friendship Falls Campground
This tiny home is a perfect getaway! Looks exactly like photos. Tucked away at quiet campground, which is sufficient in itself, but it’s also close to some overlooks on the foothills parkway and 30 min or so from Great Smokies main entrances, Gatlinburg and other attractions. Will was responsive. Definitely recommend booking! :)

3 nights at Glamping Domes & A-Frame
This remote dome has it all, spectacular view (even laying in the bed) every were, hot tub, grill, and very nicely furnished. The location was very close to the rafting we did on pigeon river. Highly recommend!

A little difficult to find, but Ravi called us and helped us find the camp, and sent pictures of where to turn. But once we arrived, everything was enjoyable! Beds and couches were comfy, amenities were great! Shower water was nice and hot, and we were safe from the rain!

Weekend Trip to Glamping Domes & A-Frame
Ravi has a beautiful lot with excellent views. The dome was super clean with all the amenities you could ask for. We didn't leave the entire weekend. Just bring groceries. There is a nice wall unit that keeps the temp comfortable, PLUS an extra heater and fan. I'd definitely return.

Weekend Trip to Nantahala: Cabins & Campsites
Incredible views from a hot tub. Need I say more? This is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to disconnect from the rest of the world. The charming little cabin is just the right size for a couple or small family. Unbeatable year round views from that hot tub, I mean. You can’t beat it. We can’t wait to come back in the summertime and enjoy it again. Thanks for a wonderful break from our routine. We’ll be back for sure!

We stayed in the Contrast Cove dome in Hartford, Tennessee for 5 nights for NYE and after with our three boys (5, 5, and 7) and had a fabulous time! Our friends rented the dome next to it (Forest Fairy) for a few days and it was great to have everyone so close.
I will start with my favorite part of the dome - the view! It was AMAZING. You can see mountains for miles. We even got snow so looking out to the snow cap mountains was very surreal for this southern girl. You do have a neighbor but we couldn’t even see the house and never heard anyone. We felt very secluded and the privacy was very nice.
The dome itself was very cozy. We had snow and I believe one night it dropped down to 17 degrees but it was always nice and warm inside. There are heated blankets you can use as well. The kitchen had everything we needed and the induction stove, fridge, and dishwasher really made it beyond a “glamping” experience. The shower was always nice, clean and warm. There was plenty of storage as well.
The enormous deck was perfect for our boys to run around and play. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub and the fire pit on the deck.
We made two trips to Gatlinburg while at the dome and it was pretty close. It was about 50 minutes away and pretty convenient to the dome’s location.
Ravi, the host, quickly responded and helped with anything we needed throughout the trip. We will absolutely stay here again. Our boys called it “the igloo” and said they wanted to stay a million days. <3

2 nights at Private Glamper/HOT TUB/MNTN VIEWS
For my birthday this year my boyfriend & I were going to go primitive camping 1 hour from where we live. Spots were filling quick so I browsed online for hours. I accidentally came across this listing & fell in love instantly.
My 1 hour away camping trip with no running water or power quickly turned into a 3.5 hour away camping trip with a camper, hot tub, mountain views & ALL the fancy necessities a house provides. After my boyfriend & I both had a super tough week, I surprised my boyfriend with this upgraded camping trip & little did I know it fit right into his plan.
I got to say "Yes" to my boyfriend right by the bonfire pit, surrounded by the mountains, & a sky full of stars.
About the site: I don't feel like the listing photos really give the site justice. I arrived late after the sun went down & so the mountain view the next morning blew us away. It is absolutely breathtaking.
My time spent here couldnt have been spent any better. My boyfriend & I checked in as a couple dating, & checked out as engaged. I hope to get to continue to come back to this same spot as its now our special place. I was able to make so many irreplaceable memories here & got to spend quality time with the person I love & I could never be more thankful for coming across this site & having this opportunity. ♡ If you're reading my review to see if you should book it, I hope you do. & if you do, I hope it brings just as many smiles, laughs and comfort as it brought us.
