Tri Mountain View Campground is located in the Northeast corner of Tennessee in the town of Shady Valley. With an elevation of 2,800 feet, Shady Valley is the second highest town in Tennessee. It is just 26 miles from the Bristol Raceway and the Bristol Caverns. It is just a 15 minute drive to Backbone rock and a short drive to the Appalachian Trail. The property was a Dairy Farm and went out of business in the late 90’s and since then there has been over 3,000 trees planted. Some of these trees include the rare Butternut and Hazelnut, but mostly White Pine, Walnut and Oaks. The property has approximately 1,000 feet of fishing on Beaver dam creek, so we recommend bringing waders. There is also a shower house, washer and dryer.

10/9/2024 NOTICE: We had some damage to our road due to Hurricane Helene that made it impassable. It has since been repaired and is opened to traffic. There are still some remaining rough areas, but the road is easily passable by passenger vehicles and RV's up to 28ft. Our site was once part of a much larger farm growing tobacco and raising cattle and other farm animals. The existing tobacco barn was built in the early 1960's. The concrete pad used for RV camping was used to store silage for the cows. The non-potable water source is a mountain spring that has been used on the farm since the 1930's. While many tobacco barns in the area have been torn down for their rusted tin roofing and rustic siding, we have worked to restore the barn and preserve its history.

My goal is always to maximize privacy and I’ve worked hard to create guest seclusion and minimize visibility from the other dome. With that, the domes are separated by 150 feet but are connected via a staircase that has been built into the mountain. If another couple is staying in the other dome during your stay, it is likely that you may hear them during your stay. Finally, our ideal location and close proximity to Blowing Rock is a direct result of our proximity to NC 321. Guests should be aware that they may hear road noise. STEEP MOUNTAIN DRIVEWAY: Please note that the driveway to the TreePod is a mountain road that is ONLY accessible by AWD or 4x4. If you are not comfortable driving on gravel mountain roads, or do not have a 4x4 or AWD, you’re welcome to park at a dedicated space at the top of the driveway and take a 450’ hike to the dome. WINTER WEATHER: In the event of a winter weather during your stay you will be required to park at the top of the driveway regardless of what type of vehicle you arrive in. This does involve a short 350’ walk from that location to the GeoDome door. In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. HEATING/COOLING: The Treepod includes both heating and cooling as well as several space heaters and electric blankets. While we make every attempt to create a comfortable environment the domes are not insulated in the same way your home may be and does not heat and cool like a conventional home or apartment. We’ll provide the heated blankets, please bring plenty of warm clothing in the winter. PARKING: Parking is FREE and on Premises but we are only able to accommodate ONE vehicle during your stay. Gusher Knob is a 220+ acre forested mountain near Spruce Pine, NC. One of the campsites has a 12 x 12 raised platform for your tent (we don't recommend pitching a tent anywhere other than the platform), picnic table, fire pit, and a hook to hold a lantern. This first campsite on the property has a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A second campsite is more primitive (no picnic table or platform yet) is in a forested section with access to the Toe River. It is available now, but improvements are planned such as building a platform, adding a picnic bench and expanding the current fire pit. Please stay on the trails and the campsite areas as the surrounding land is private and monitored. Cell coverage is ok. Nearby hiking, climbing, and fly fishing are a few activities you will enjoy when visiting this lovely area of western NC. One campsite is a short 7-minute easy hike along a well-marked clear trail from the parking spot. The trail is non-technical and will mostly accommodate camping gear with wheels, such as a cooler. The other campsite takes a little longer hike to reach (10-minutes). Since it's situated in the woods, please be aware that you may encounter any number of nature's residents such as deer, squirrels, box turtles, wild turkeys, and bears. Please do not feed them and make sure to protect any food items appropriately. None of the natural residents has any interest in you personally, but they are known to be drawn to available food items.

James landed on the property in 2009, built a small dairy barn and milked 3 cows for a couple years before building the two cabins. In 2015 he was joined by Sofi, originally from Sweden and together they have three daughters. Together they manage a botanically interesting hobby hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water" Orchard House was built entirely by James from the block up to the roof, averaging 1 hour/day for 3 years or 1,000 hours. Guests can check how much power they have on the generator under the kitchen countertop by hitting the display button. Electric should be sufficient but glampers will do are responsible for using the electricity responsibly so as to not drain the battery completely. There is a microwave for cooking, a charcoal grill on the deck (charcoal and grill necessities included) and a fire ring for open flame cooking. There is a hammock provided for warmer days! Please note that when temperatures dip into the teens and the single digits make sure to bring warm clothing as dome can still get a bit chilly on those nights. Also note that there is a hand washing station outside of the dome next to the port a potty however when temperatures dip into the teens and single digits the water can freeze up in the hand washing station. We do also provide hand sanitizer as a back up. The outdoor shower is only open typically from April through October. In addition, the only form of heat is a wood burning stove with starters and wood provided, so it will be your responsibility to make sure that the stove keeps burning with wood as to keep the dome warm. This most likely will entail getting up at least once a night to stoke/put wood on the fire. On very hot summer days the dome can get very warm inside. We have a high powered fan and black out curtains to help but it still can get very warm. Best to utilize the outdoor space in the late morning/early afternoon hours or use this time to explore the area. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING! Also, there may be some bugs that you see. Especially stink bugs in September and October. We do our best to keep bugs out, yet this is a Glamping experience which is between camping and a typical Airbnb experience so please plan/pack/expect accordingly. Thanks!

Super unique little yurt camp out in the NC Blue Ridge. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an easy glamping experience that's a very affordable way to stay in the area really nearby Little Switzerland, Linville, Grandfather mountain, etc..The property itself still feels remote as it is situated on the side of a nearby mountain. That being said, be prepared to drive carefully on the property, especially if you have a smaller car, as the drive is a bit rugged. Very doable even in our little hybrid 2 seater, but take your time in inclement weather (even in early December, we still had a lovely time, and enjoyed the tranquility). Would totally return if we come back through the area!

This campground was very easy to find and right off Rt. 26. Probably the quickest access we've ever had. The temps got cold, and David was great about warning that my water hose might freeze up. It was pretty quiet at the campground, I never got the chance to speak with any of the other campers. We were there visiting relatives for Thanksgiving and this fit the bill perfectly.

We traveled as a family of 4 and two dogs and we had a wonderful time at Ocean Blue cabin. Exceptional host and cabin was amazing. We had everything and more to has such a great time. Hiking trail on the property was perfect for our young kids. We took it twice and met friendly cows on top of the hill. Hot tub was a perfect spot for after hike and evening watching the stars! We will definitely come back and bring friends with us!

The Artist Studio was the perfect spot to stay on a solo road trip from Eastern Virginia to Nashville. The property was stunning and the studio was clean & cozy. Weekend Trip to TangleWood Creekside Campsites

All of us absolutely loved TangleWood. We'll definitely stay again. The property was beautiful, safe, clean, quiet and VAST. Blair recommended a perfect site with privacy and the stream wrapping around it: Buckeye Bank. We had a tent, truck and and a small camper van. There was plenty of room. Driving in along the stream to our spot were a few other cool options for stays (mini homes, safari tents). The sites are well spread out and the pora-johns (about one per 2 sites) were immaculate. We went on 2 hikes on their enormous property. Our dogs played in the stream together right beside our campfire. The stars were magnificent. We'd love to come back again.

This was the perfect spot for us. A group of long time friends wanting to spend time together. Have some comforts that make it easier then camping but still enjoy the outside was a perfect fit. The tent was incredible and the location was secluded. Definitely hope to make it back here in the future.
