Great place. Timed it at the end of October and had the tenting area to ourselves. The people running it are fantastic brought us our wood via golf cart and even helped us out with a jump the next morning for the car. We will definitely be back. A++

I loved staying at Black Bear! Linda was super kind and very attentive. As a solo female camper, I felt very safe at their property. Definitely will be back and would recommend to others!

Host and staff are very nice. The place is clean, flushable toilets are great. The outdoor shower were nice to have (with hot water). The bugs (nat flys) are abundant, but the fire smoke helped with that. Close to swimming and hiking. Great place!

Site 5 - Tent camping in the mountains

The resort is beautiful staff and owners are great. I expected to be able to roam the property but was forbidden to go and look at a campsite I had rented for the day after my cabin. They wouldn’t let me. What they did allow was to let me spend 135 on a cabin and 30 on a campsite just to leave the next day due to boredom. Take the resort name off because that’s not what it is.

Chuck's dog with short legs, walked slowly all the way to my tent in the upper camping area to greet me, two times: first, soon after my arrival and next, soon before my departure. I miss that dog whose name is CHLOE.

Beautiful place! Stayed at site 2 with an 11 and 14 year old. The kids loved the creek. This campground is pretty awesome! The lady in charge, Charles, and the chef were incredibly helpful! Camp was very close to hiking trails and there is a very laid-back atmosphere. I would recommend this place!

So, the BB Resort is definitely out of the way and I think borders Cherokee Forest land. I was on the property for two nights, the upper tenting area. Unfortunately for me, rain seems to follow me. That upper area can get a little soupy with a lot of rain but it was also really peaceful - I had it all to myself. There is a little creek / stream running along one side. Not sure which # site I had but it was the next to last on the left. Good ground cover. Moss, which helped in keeping my tent mostly dry at the bottom. Good tree coverage above but when it rains so hard... The further into the upper field you go, the weaker the wifi signal gets if you need it. However, the deck area in the back of the restaurant, which unfortunately I didn't partake in, was nice and also a large covered porch. The lower camp has some hammock sites and all kinds of little cabin bldgs, not to mention beach tent sites. A bit of everything. I wouldn't try driving anything too big from Hampton to the site - road is kind of narrow and swith-backy in spots, but I'm a wuss. Good experience except for my self-inflicted mountain rain-storms.

Wonderful time visiting the campsite! Great accommodations, flexible check in hours, and wonderful hosts. If looking for a spot along the Appalachian trail or just a getaway, highly recommend! The road to the site is narrow and winding, so proceed with caution.

Black Bear Resort is a fantastic place to stay for one or more nights. We visited in early March and were the only guests. The owner gave us a very warm welcome. The location is stunning, and the shower facilities were excellent. The trail to Laurel Falls is absolutely worth exploring. The campsite is situated next to the Appalachian Trail, offering great opportunities for hiking along it. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the resort. The place has a great vibe, the hosts were nice and accommodating. I came last minute and they were easy to work with. I caught trout in the stream right outside the place and it is a short walk to Laurel Falls.

We lived camping here! There’s a slight drop off that a creek runs through that you have to be aware of especially if you have kids. But it was peaceful to hear the water and fire in the night. It rained both nights we were there so it was very muddy! Overall very nice place!

Site 3 - Tent camping in the mountains

This was an excellent campsite, beautiful and affordable. Check-in was was easy and everyone working at the resort was very friendly. We were shown right to our site, which was well-maintained and not far from the main buildings. The showers, bathrooms, and other amenities were in great shape. We would definitely recommend!!

Very interesting place, especially how eclectic it is and that they've created so many interesting camping sites from recycled pieces. The bathroom and showers were neat and clean. Personally, I didn't feel as safe as I have in other camps (solo female traveler). This could have been just me, and I realize this is a risk you take in such facilities, however, I just didn't feel much assurance from the owner after expressing a concern.

This is a diamond..but not in the rough!! Off the beaton path, the road to this beautiful, quaint camping area is a drivers dream. The is snuggled in fantastic location with streams, colorful foliage this time of year, the couple that owns and operates this gem are womderful and helpful. They were sweet to my young dog. Very much enjoyed and making plans to go again. wasnt far from Roan mtn which we we had planned a hike .

100% would camp here again. The whole campsite was beautiful, well maintained, and clean. Travis and Linda were extremely nice and helpful. The bathrooms were campsite bathrooms - nothing fancy but did the job. There’s no sinks in the toilet area, just one big one outside for hand washing and dish washing. They were not kidding on the listing about not having service, you can use the Wi-Fi but it is only near the office. Our site was pretty flat so that made setting the tent up easy. We brought our dog with us on her first camping trip - she also had a blast too. I would happily camp here again. There are picnic table/benches at every site. Didn’t use the showers but they seemed fine. They had hot water but they’re basically outdoor showers with a stall so I didn’t use it because it was too cold but I’m sure they’d be fine when it’s nice out.

Dog’s first camping trip

I LOVED this campsite. Travis and Linda were so sweet and helpful. The campsites are a bit close together but thankfully for us they weren’t super busy while we were there. The toilets and showers (didn’t use them, too cold and they’re essentially outdoor showers in a stall) were decently close even at the furthest campsite. We brought our dog with us and she had fun too - just had to keep her leashed and clean up after her. There were picnic tables at every campsite. There was a sink for dish washing which is also where you had to wash your hands for the bathroom. They are not kidding in the listing about not having cell phone service. You can walk down to near the office area and use the Wi-Fi though if you need to. It was beautiful and clean and I would happily call there again.

Amazing place and location. The bathroom and showers were amazing! Easy to connect to WIFi and charge our phones while camping. Linda the host greeted us and made us feel at home. I feel very secure at the campground because it is at the end of the property, not facing the street. Our party hiked t the 1.4-mile waterfall and all of us love it! There are so many other activities to do nearby that we did not have time. We definitely come back next year! Hidden Gem!
